The whole theme and game gives me Ghostbusters vibes. Maybe Lego wanted to expand the Ghostbusters theme, but the rightholders doesn't?
And the train with the moving wings gives me Back to the future Time Train vibes.

I LOVE this series of sets! I really love all the transformation features and the App integration looks like a lot of fun! I agree on the boxes though. Not because the design is bad or unattractive but because it just doesn't do the sets themselves justice. You really have to look at the back of the box to get a sense of just how cool the actual toy is.

It's an interesting theme and I guess it's good they keep experimenting but at the same time a lot of these themes don't take off I guess we will see
Another wave is coming out in 2020, but idk after that
i wish they bring back the knight's theme though :(
They exparament a bit with themes like ninjago' chima and nexo knights but ninjago was probley the onely one that realy took off. The main problem is licenced themes taking up so much space. With all the movies coming out know Lego keeps trying to make money off of what is popular for kids based off what they allready know rather then brainstorming as much as they used to.
That train track piece at the end is great for getting your trains onto your track with zero fuss. I love it!
If Lego EVER decide to do a "The Real Ghostbusters" theme, these sets would be perfect for it, or even the Ghostbusters set we have now!

Wow love the look of the Lego Hidden Side sets they look awesome. Especially this train I love how they don’t use the pin for the train wheels any more it’s great and much better. I'm loving these sets, I have got the cemetery and lab done, 3/4 done on the school, shrimp shack and boat up next. Loving the new characters but the best of the sets is the school ( so well designed) just as a build.

Thanks for showing me this. Sadface it doesnt come with a track look but seems pretty cool. I will be trying to get this set and convince a friend to build it for me. No one has done a verbal instruction manual yet, so untill then i will offer food n favors to friends to help me build. the struggles of a blind lego fan.,.

Black train doors! It's been ages since I've seen those, definately gonna check those out on B&P later. I'm also a bit concerned about those new wheel assemblies and the weight they can carry without deforming.
Thanks for sharing this. I'm really surprised by how little the set controls the scene. I thought a selling point was that you had to use the set itself to get more control in the game. OK Looking train, but think the other set will leave this one behind, especially the boat and bus!

So far so good for this game. I think although the sets will carry the product the game (if good) will contribute to the playability and value of the idea, but hidden sides is fresh and a good idea, I honestly wish there were a few more kids than the main 2 because I have already got dozens of them but that's my only negative.
Bricks n' Cider 100% agree with you, the sets are really well designed and actually pretty fun to sit and play with. But the two main characters was very cool the first time you got them but now they cinda eh, but overall a great theme.

That brand new slope piece at the end of the track before Newbury Station sort of reminds me of and gives me the vibes of the Ice Lake scene from The Polar Express
definitely make a hidden side area In your city somewhere, it'd be cool to see all the sets together
I could see it being a side of the city that's very old and abandoned. Cause from station, it seems to look like that.
Jang has said that his "top side" city is for his own creations and he is trying to move it to be 100% MOCs, there is a possibility that he would make a hidden side area underneath his city.

This theme is intriguing. It's a bit more compatible with general city sets than the old monster fighters theme was, and I like that. Hopefully it finds more success than its predecessor!

A couple examples are the Hogwarts express, the lone ranger theme train, and that train from toy story 3. And if I am correct, I there was one with monster fighters theme.
Wow this set is going to be my next set I buy If it has a deal on black Friday at my city toy stores like smyths and Toymaster
There's some great builds and interesting ideas in this theme. It'll be interesting to see how well it sells though on the whole. It's very niche.

I really like the design of the sets and their boxes, even though the boxes are little bit similar on all the sets.
It would be interesting to see this app idea used in a police or fire themed set. Using the app to detect criminal activity or fire hazzards.

It is smart of Lego to try and get a platform on smartphones since that's sadly where kids play mainly today. Hopefully they will manage to stay relevant. As an adult I want Lego to stick around now that I can afford it!
Hope Lego makes more train stuff now with the new pieces, like in the olden days when you could buy cars and locos seperate.
I noticed Mrs. Santos' hairpiece is the banshee hair from the cmf series!
I'm an AFOL(although only recently got back into lego due to my son), and my son is into Lego too, My Sons favourite minifigures is series 14 the monsters, and Weve been trying to hunt down the Monster Hunter theme sets, so Hidden Sides is another win with my Son, I've got to say I really like them too, we've got him the graveyard so far and he enjoyed the game, even myself as a 32 year old enjoyed playing the game although it is very basic.
If you modify the build, do those changes show in the app, or does it just show an image of the official set?
Looks like a fun little set with good playbility. Really appreciate the new rail and wheel piece too. Train wise..... naah.

Not sure if I'll buy the sets but the theme looks really good, great prints for some minifigs as well. And if you're looking for graffiti stickers, Friends sets have these sometimes like the latest restaurant.
This set has a Real Ghostbusters vibe. I could see displaying it by my Ecto-1.
The new powered up will make it easier to motorize the loco. And I see you at least have turning trucks for the wheels just add some magnet coulplers.
I need the green wings for my custom Cthulhu figures. The rest goes straight to my Lego bits box or is used as base for mocs
I like this series, something different however I have yet to pick up a set yet
At the very least, you get a new train that's not too expensive and it's got a few cool features you don't see on any other train set, so I guess it's not too bad.

A way you could introduce into your LEGO city is (in my opinion) by adding a abandoned area of the city that seems to be shut off by police barricades.
That stair style was used in the Doctor Who set but more separated
The the new ramp piece is usefull for setting things on your layout
