You are great at fixing things and explaining how you solved the issue! Good video!!!
Kevin doing a great job if it can be repaired you can do it. Keep up the great videos waiting to see the big surprises you have coming.
Good video. I'm glad you got the water issues worked on.
Love the new content! Can't wait to see you get the house all renovated.
Bless your heart. You are such a hard worker. We have so much respect for you and Alicia. It’s a big project but we know it will be beautiful when y’all get it finished.
You need to try the Red store, walk in with any household problem and they can tell you exactly what you need. For the shutoff valves, they probably just need the nut tightened or the packing replaced. The Blue and Orange stores will sell you new valves, the Red store will save you money by telling you how to fix it without expensive parts. Red store as in ACE, the helpful hardware folks. They have saved me lots!
Kevin check the piping where the washing machine hookups are they might have a pin hole.
Thanks, we will!
Good job
I think you're going to need a whole house water filtration system installed pretty soon....And you are still paving new paths with the new/old house...Thanks for sharing..
Hopefully the well didn't collapse. If that is the case he will have to redrill another well
Sheetrock in the wash room soaked up the water from when it was leaking on the floor by the washer connection
Don’t forget to open valve on bottom of the water heater to get the sediment out.
The water heater is brand new and never been used! It also will not be staying in that location!
wow,,, that water leak followed y’all from the RV. Thank GOD that you have the skills to work them issues.
Love this new videos. The house in comeing a long. If you have a home you will have problems. But you stem to know with you doing. Love the so more of these videos soon. Have a great day!
Oh wow. Woweee. Make sure put new locks on all the doors. Safety issues .hopefully no more leaks..once done it will look magnificent...so happy for you all. kevin your Amazing.
Hard working man... .🫶🫶
Good luck. ❤
Dry cow patty’s are the best fertilizer you can have plus it’s safe for the environment. I grew up on a farm and my mother used to send me outside to go pick up dry cow patties for the yard and garden.
There's an abudance of those in the pasture behind our home!
Id go with a whole house water filter before it enters anywhere they are cheap and save a ton of headaches...love the vid seeing your new place and how awesome it will be in the future!!
Dang!!! I had forgotten how well water can corrode your pipes so much!! And cause so much work for you. Look forward to watching y’all get this beautiful home ready for move in. So excited for you and your family.
in the apartment we live now they installed a pipe that prevents us from sliding the filter in, we have to crunch it down in a corner and get ir around the pipe. we are sure the filter is not working as well as it should.
Saw the spider in the laundry room door frame…SELL THE HOUSE! 😂😂😂😂
Oh, and those valves that are on your faucets, don't go with the same type. Go with a ball valve, they are 100x better and last much longer
Water issues not to bad for a house that was empty for three years . Hum... Wonder if the slot for filter at the furnace was not being used not only because of the door jam but because there is a filter at the return instead. Everything is really coming together, I'm so excited for you guys. Stay well
Great video!!!!
Thank!
Sweating coppers not very hard make sure it's clean and plenty of flux and your heat in the right spot
You can get filters you cut to fit. Our air-conditioning service man says they are better for your system anyway. You could lay the filter inside with that type of filter. I love your new home. Enjoying watching you fix it up. I’m happy the children have a nice place to grow up close to their grandparents. Family is so important!
Thanks for that tip!
At some point probably had the water turned on with no heat. I would do an air pressure test on the entire plumbing system. I foresee some drywall work in your future and maybe a complete plumbing job.
You need to install a P trap in the master bath under the sink , whoever installed the sink drain used a flex drain pipe as a makeshift p trap😉 👍🏽
Thanks for that tip!
It is so heartwarming to see such a good man taking care of his family! Love you guys!
I would just replace all the faucets too
You sound just like me when it comes to your yard, Fertilize, grass seed and mow. Boy do I love to mow !!😂😊 Love your channel and boy what I love to win one of those beds !!!❤
Hey there, congrats on your new home.
If I were you, I would look up how to sanitize your jet tub. You will be discussed what comes out.
Kevin, put a junction box on the wall by the water heater, then from that box to your water tank. The dishwasher only receives hot water.
In the room where the washer and dryer is he can use junction boxes for the dryer receptacle and the 120v receptacle. The junction can't be hidden in the wall so after the splice he can use just
blank plates
Seems Kevin was getting the water supply mixed up with the washing machine. In my younger days I actually thought the dishwasher heated the cold water therefore u would run cold water to the one and only water inlet on the dishwasher. Yes sir, just hot water goes to the dishwasher. The drain will be easy because they make a drain fitting to hook the drain hose too. Just have to make sure the drain needs to be leaning towards the dishwasher. Some actually put that backwards
Hey man you should probably get septic pumped and checked since the house is that old. Better to do it now before you get that yard all pretty.
That was the last thing done before it was abandoned
Call a plumber asap I wonder if you need to replace the whole plumbing for the house
Kevin, always pressure test the system with air instead of water. I used a compressor and hook a airline to the outside facets and the blow air into the system. Recommend putting shut off valves on the hot water heater also safety straps and drain pan or blow off pipe with drain to the outside I r under the house. Place a extra jbox wired at the wall and the wire to it and the hot water heater.
At the well dig down to the t for the shop and put a valve on it with a valve box.
In the future look at putting in a cistern tank and store your water just in case you loose your power. We had one hooked up to a shallow well pump from Harbor Freight. 500gallon tank worked great and cut wear on our main pump.
Safe travels and roads, now house Brian and Cindy "xtreambydesign with passion "
The hot water heater is not staying in that location so it will all be done correctly when it gets moved to it's new home!
Hi Kevin my husband noticed you do not have a dryer vent in laundry room.
Stay tuned there are lots of things changing on this house!
We got a new Dishwasher from Lowe’s and paid like $125 for Install by Lowes. Installer took care of all the Plumbing to get it going. Not bad. 😊
Oh! Be sure to use extra wide gutters where that rain is pouring down. We had that issue and the narrow ones just didn't accommodate. Great video!
It’s quite apparent that you are a handy guy to have around…love the view you have and the sound of the rain is so relaxing! Our love to the rest of your family😊🙏❤️
While it was raining did you check the wall in the laudry room to see if the wall got wet because of the rain?
3 things. Btw still love your channel even though the content change. 1) Get plumbers to put ½" copper pipe fitting on the copper pipe so you can change the valve in the future yourself 2) buy a 4 inch square electrical box with a flat plate and just make a junction box for the water heater. Then just use the amount of wire you need. 3) maybe consider making a small shed over water well to prevent pressure switch from shorting out and possibly burn up your pump
You said you going to redo the plumbing in the rv. Guess now you get to redo the plumbing in the house and well.
Yes, we didn't realize we would end up doing plumbing and electrical work here, too! Ha!
What color are your kitchen cabinets? I see green, I see gray, I see tan/beige.
Master bathroom tub might just need an air vent added it could be draining slow from that if not its clogged
You should have watched a little longer and found out what I found!
Yeah I see that now LMFAO
Looks like you're missing the drain pipe for the dishwasher.
Don't worry that sink isin't staying in the house! We have big plans for the kitchen! We just needed to turn the water on and see what worked and what didn't!
Some folks that do their own plumbing... too many sharp angles in the plumbing etc. And wiring can be a nightnare!!
Chasing water leaks can be a huge headache.
Yes it can!
Shark bite fittings are your friend, highly recommend putting a master water valve in the house, the well water tank has been setting dry will have all kinds of debris scale & rust, check the septic you think the tub drain was nasty the septic will make that hair clog nothing
I love Sharkbite fittings. But if he decides to call the plumber he just needs to get the plumber to solder on copper fittings with ½ pipe thread so he can change the valve himself next time.
@@SickofPervs 100% agree just saying shark bite fittings work great
Are there any big box stores like Costco or BJs near u? It’s worth the membership! Good luck love the new home❤️
Kevin we have a way of describing the situation you're facing with your new place and the quality of workmanship that the previous owners did. Unfortunately I don't want to say it here. Keep up the good work and try to have patience 😂😂😂😂. Love your videos ❤
Thank you!
I know you replaced your awning lights went back trying to find video but couldn’t can you tell me where you got them
amzn.to/3VmeoTt
Just a heads up….rural properties should have the water quality checked regularly because you have cattle surrounding your property and you are running off a well. Years of cattle poop soaking into the ground and working its way into the water table can cause several kinds of contamination. Over the years, we have had multiple ecoli ratings. It’s a nice property.
Tighten the screw on the valve handle. That will pull the valve shut.
Tried it, some were also leaking out of the stem to the handle! There hasn't been water in the house for 3 years so just about everything had some sort of leak or drip on it!
Water leaks followed you!
Well we expected this, there hasn't been water on the property in 3 years!
You may want to change out that tub in your bathroom, yep, the jets are gonna be full of nasty sludge, from sitting so long! Good luck!! Love the house and the property! You will get everything fixed and then you will be able to enjoy your home. Even in a new home there will be problems. Love you guys!!
They have powder or liquid to put in the jet tubs to clean those valves. Now you may have to do it more than once. Also I use bleach to start with cleaning the valves. I will tell you it may take a little time. But before you do all that you want to put enough water in the tub to go over the jets and then see it you have any leaks. You may have to replace the hoses
I just bought some merch !!! Entered to win a new mattress ❤
Good Luck!
Yes Kevin, everything has gone up!
Water Heater: That 'Dresser Coupling Tee' on the Cold line will absolutely blow-off (separate) some day. Dresser Couplings cannot be installed in-line on a pipe that is free to move axially (parallel to its center-line). Question, is that standard 'white' PVC on the Hot line?
Jucuzzi: When you get that tub working you should circulate it with dilute clorox water to sterilize the internal piping and pump. Don't make it so strong that the off-gasing becomes a hazard.
The water heater is not staying there so it will all be changed!
Get the right tools and switch to PEX. It’s easy to work with. Also, less susceptible to freezing since it expands.
My knee jerk reaction is trash all of that and replace with properly installed lines. Water and electric, maybe time for a ditch witch.
Waiting for the septic tank review.
The septic system is actually pretty new and was pumped out before it was abandoned!
Easy solution for the air filter. Instead of a 20x25 get 2 10X25 4" filters. Put one in, slide it over and put the other one in.
Add duct cleaning to the list
You sure were busy, but you did a great job. It is a good thing that you are a handyman and can fix things. Can’t wait to see what is next!
looks like you have room for a part time camper :)
Maybe one day!
Yup! I started getting pin holes in my copper pipes. I started with the shark bite fixtures and very quick re-plumed the whole house with pex. Once the leaks start they just kept moving down the line. As far as sweating pipes goes use bread a temporary plug while you sweat in those joints.
Hmmmm, this reminds me of an RV Water Bay problem… 😢
Snake the drains to deal with hair & gunk?
Suggestion for short term HVAC filter - get one that you can cut to size and tack down in place with a fir strip or something. Nothing fancy but better than nothing.
Laughing at the door frame-filter fiasco! 😂
Still bothers me today!
I would put those wires into a shut-off switch on the wall, then run clean wires to the water heater. Allows you to shut it off right beside the heater if needed.
God Bless you! You are a handy fellow to have around! And that is literally priceless!
Definitely would chlorinate the well after not being used for 3 years
Not a bad idea!
Kevin, the hot water heater, did you flush the crap out of it yet.... oh, do i dare say, have you checked for lead pipes?
The water heater is not even hooked up and working at this point! It is also going to be moved to a different location!
Concerning your master bath jet tub...fill with hot water and bleach and turn on jets and let it run awhile. I am almost positive that there is mold and mildew built up on the water lines.
That is if you don't replace them altogether.
Ask me, I know from experience!
I think that is good idea. I know drain cleaner can't be used because it will kill the bacteria in the septic tank. I believe cholorx when dilute, for sure isn't as bad as caustic drain cleaner👍👍👍
Build a shelter of Well. Ans we put touch of bleach at times in ours.
Kevin, I have a plumber friend who puts his arm in a septic tank outflow to make sure it’s clear. Now that will make you throw up for sure, you go from Rv repairs to house repairs good luck my friend!
Hola👋 from New Mexico 🌶️...so glad you know how to fix things.❤...I love your new house and know it's going to be beautiful when your done....Poor Phil and his wet chair😮
Oh the fun of dealing with plumbing. I couldn't quite tell from the video but the rotted faucets that broke off looked like they could be suffering from electrolysis which easily happens with copper pipes/plumbing if you introduce other metals such as galvanized fittings with the copper. Ideally if you have room to do it a sliding door for the water heater closet would eliminate the door hitting the washing machine. I've done several houses like this over the years and it's always an adventure. (and lots of fun) Good luck, I enjoy watching your progress.
:(. Unfortunately I would rip all the plumbing out clear from the pump to where it all goes (yes expensive but piece of mind. Never know when or where your going to leak in a wall. And be even more expensive). I use red/blue pex with stainless steel clinch rings. And lead free brass fittings on everything.
Once it gets into the house I would put a 3 filter system on it.
You should just get an rv, a lot less maintenence .
WAIT! Never mind 🤣
Ha! Good one! Fool me once...
Nice to be fixing up a fixer-upper HOUSE... now consider if this project was an RV ....with all the water leaks, electrical shorts and goobers in the pipes..😂😂😂... You are way ahead $$$ and your HOUSE can be fixed and nice... whereas the RV would need to be replaced with you still losing money.❤
Someone else mentioned a junction box at the water heater, since the breaker is not in sight of the water heater, I would install a disconnect there and then to the water heater. When you looked under the sink in the master bath, you looked like you might be looking snakes!! or other surprises!! One other thing, make sure you run some bleach thru that tub jets!! With your find in the drain, it scary as to what you'll find in those!! Yes I agree on the prices at Lowes and Home Depot, picked up 2 - 8' lamps for my shop, WOW $19.95 each!!! Glad to see things coming together on the new home place!! you all stay safe!!
I'm guessing you are regretting that last statement in this video " I love the rain"
It needs to chill right now!
More Kiddos, more Alicia, Phil, LoLo!!! Just more more more!!! Love you people, highlight of my day, thank you!
Dishwasher only has a HW line.
Use cow manure , mix with water and use that on ur grass. Works amazing I found up here
If you still keep getting dirt come through the screen on the pipe in the well has rusted away depending on how far down it goes will determine how hard it is to fix it
Looks like the utility/washroom needs a ground fault installed.. maybe other areas too?
Kevin I wish I had your mind. U r awesome. Always thinking smarter, never working harder. And man enough to know when to ask for help. ❤ Learning from u. ✌️☺️
Looks like you traded one plumbing issue (in the RV) for another (in the house). :(
a while back you said if we ordered "make rv's great again" we would be entered in all give-aways for the whole year, is that still going on or has it all changed?
Yes, you are entered into every giveaway for the year, including the Brooklyn Bedding giveaway!
Ya'all doing alright over there. Looks like Lufkin has become a lake. Does your new home function as an ark too😅
Did they have a hard freeze that destroyed all these fixtures?
It's entirely possible, but there hasn't been water or electricity at the house in 3 years so who knows what happened
Looks like you need to put a whole house water filter on.
And your long journey begins! Can’t wait to see it all. And by the way, you didn’t do much of a job hiding what your “surprise” is next episode. Something that turns on a dime?
Almost as if it doesn't turn at all!
There is a possibility the well might need to be redone. If the well collapse due to rusty pipe you may need to dig new well. That is worse case scenario. I would add two water filters to the main line outside the house. The filters will trap most of the sediment. It's possible you will need to change filters every month. Here is the link of the filter.
You don't need the carbon filter. Buy 2 similar to this and use sediment filters
SimPure Whole House Water Filter Housing (DB10P), 10" x 4.5" Sediment Carbon Filter Universal Housing, Pre-Filtration System for Well and City Water, 1" NPT Port, Pressure Release
I am talking about putting 2 sediment filters to trap the "trash" before it comes in the house.
If you recall the sediment was plugging up all the faucets. I do agree he needs a water softener to control the hard water and the iron in well water
Please see my longer post above. You all are somewhat on the track, but he has to get the water tested first to determine exactly what filters and what settings need to be done. Water treatment is not a guessing game otherwise you throw unneeded money at a problem when specificity is more important.
Just so yall are aware, we will be getting the water tested and will likely be installing a water softener and RO system! We do already know there is a high salt level in the water! There will also be a big full house water filter system involved! But that's not something that happens overnight and we have to plan some other stuff out so we only spend money once!
I hope the well is ok. At my home we had to redrill another well... we hired a good company that went another 100 ft or so deeper than the old well to get pass the good sand in the acquifer . Old well water was slightly dark. New well water was beautiful 💧
Fertilizer- some of that comes from Ukraine, Russia, and the middle east. Good work on the leaks!
Maybe that's why it's so expensive!
I kinka wish I was there to help you... LOL I like doing that stuff.
