He's clearly taking the piss half the time in a very English way, and it's tragic how people outside the UK misread that humour.

They may well be accused of it because of such songs as Nancy Boy and many more. Brian usually has been quite outspoken about gay rights issues so I am curious what is his stance on the situation in Russia.

However, since you are so media-driven and haven't got a clue: Placebo are extremely popular in Russia, even people born in the beginning of 2000 know who they are. Don't put labels on people just because of what their government does. Stop listening to CNN and get a life.
