In Louisiana we start playing in the band in the 4th grade in school. When you get to Jr high your in a band with a 100 are so members .When you're in high school you have what we call the foundation. (New Orleans )St Augustine purple Knight Marching 100's!!!
Feeling like dominating the day. It's 9:20am on feb 27th 2018 and I just finished listening to SU dominate during my breakfast , now its time to dominate these classes. this one here always gets me going.
Southern, had to put Alcorn in their place due to Alcorn's insistence on playing regular songs and not marches. It was just like this Alcorn commentator stated on this video. Alcorn was trying to show SU they can handle them and weren't scared of them. I can respect that. Southern gone always show they play powerful, maintain balance, and sound well doing so. That's their strong point and they have decades of experience doing so thanks to Doc(Rip). That's the way he wanted his band to play and sound while still maintaining balance. It has been working for Southern for decades as well. Alcorn sound good and drill well. The commentator spoke honestly about how good and powerful Southern sound even though he's an Alcorn alum. That's honesty and respect in the best way.

U kno whats crazy that I found out I don't know about now but once upon a time people thought their band consists of baton rouge and new orleans, Louisiana kids but it didn't most of their recruitment comes from texas and Georgia
was true back in the day Melvin. then New Orleans became the recruiting grounds pre Katrina. the storm changed a lot of the dynamics in N.O so Southern has I think and I only think not 100 on this but I think they once again recruit from all over the US
