  • Out in the barn on another hot humid day breaking out an old Co2 pistol of mine to revisit. My Gamo P-23 .177 lead bb and pellet air pistol. I got it in trade over 10 years ago and haven't shot it very much. Today I'll re-educate myself on it a little, run it over the chronograph with the lead bb's and pellets, and also try out a little accuracy testing target shooting. Basically just having a good time pulling it out of the cabinet to make a video to share about it. I'm glad I hung onto it all these years as it is really quite a fun and accurate little Co2 pistol.

    this is so good of a gun I've had mine for over 10 years now of course it's discontinued because it's very powerful or maybe I just got lucky. I never measured the feet per second however when I was younger and my teenage years I remember shooting through stop signs with BB'$.
    let me tell you it was a lot of fun and I was so surprised I don't know how powerful it's got to be to shoot through a stop sign it would blow through to inches of wood. I've been trying to find more to buy I can't find any I'm sad that it's discontinued talk about power I'm very happy with mine I keep it locked up in the closet it's an oldie but a goodie

      Yes it is a really fun and powerful little pistol for sure. I mentioned I got mine in trade and at the time I was doing the other guy a favor. Now many years later I think I got the better end of the deal, and like the pistol more now than when I got it. Oldie but goodie for sure.

    I ( had ) bought 5 of these back in 2001 from Walmart, they came in a black hard plastic case with snap locks and a carry handle, kinda like what you see a set of Whahl Hair Clippers in, with eggshell foam inside, I believe it was formed fitted for the gun and the tin of pellets. I know I gave 2 of them away, 1 got stolen and I'm not sure what happened to the other 2, I thought I kept them but they may have ended up getting stolen too. I'm trying to remember what I paid for each one. No I take that back, I bought a
    Gamo shadow 1000 break barrel
    .177 caliber pellet rifle from Walmart and the little manual that came inside the box had some Gamo Warranty information and I called the number and asked if they had a catalog and if I could get one sent to me. They sent me one, it is about an inch thick color glossy, photographic, detailed information on each gun, catalog. I ended up ordering the P-23's through the catalog. I still have the catalog some where put up back there in the spare bedroom. I Love those pistols. Like I said I don't know what happened to the other 2. Each one came with a tin of lead pellets, about 50, I think to the tin, may have been 250 but I want to say 50. Man I Been looking all over for one of these. I'll give you $75 for yours. If you want to part with it let me know, please.

      You could shoot lead pellets in them one at a time, single shot mode. I do remember that.

      @VipersVideos  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, your memory of the product case is exactly what mine has except mine had lead bbs/balls in a tin. Sorry to hear you no longer have one. If I ever loose interest and want to move on from it, I'll let you know. Thanks!

      I meant a tin of lead BB's, I don't know why I said pellets, probably because at the time I found your video I was surfing review videos early this morning, I probably watched 2 and a half hours worth. I ended up ordering 6 Co2 pistols today, this morning, one of which is a Gamo P-23, hot damn, I got lucky. It was 1 of only 2 that I could find anywhere on the internet this morning. Also some of the others are out of production also. I ordered a Daisy Powerline 408 or 4408, a Daisy Powerline 426, a Daisy Powerline 415 and a pair of Cybergun KWC IWI Jericho 941's. Yeah thank you for letting me know if you decide to let yours go please, I Appreciate it. Hopefully all my orders will get here and will be here by April 20th 2021. Thanks again dude, I enjoyed the video.

    I should have bought that model instead of the gamo C15 which I haven’t used ever since because of its falling magazine. P23 is more durable despite its budget price

    • @VipersVideos
      @VipersVideos  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, I didn't think to much of it before I got it in trade over a decade ago but I'm glad I got it and kept it. It is a lot nicer and more durable (as you mentioned) than you'd expect.

    My P23 has the plastic flat head screws on the handle. (I have never understood why any thing would have a flat head screw). Both have more or less stripped past turning. any other way to get the handle open to insert the CO2? thanks in advance.

    What happends if one uses steel BBs? - is it becasue the barrel is rifled?

    • @VipersVideos
      @VipersVideos  Před 4 lety +1

      Two things I'm aware of. #1.) Steel bb's are a slightly smaller diameter than the lead balls/bb's so they could have some feeding issues? #2.) Steel bb's wear out rifling in barrels faster than lead. As always YMMV.

    mine doe not say Lead BB's only it says BB's only,,,

    • @VipersVideos
      @VipersVideos  Před 3 lety

      Interesting... On the left side of the plastic magazine loading area mine states: "Use Lead BBs Only." Mine is a bit older, so maybe that's the case? Because of the rifled barrel I would only use lead bb's or pellets anyway, so it's not a problem for me.
