- The block I made is 4"x4" with a off center hole. The wedge is something that you will need to make for the specs to your hole placement and hold size.

Awesome, cant believe i haven't seen this securing trick before.. Really useful
Great project. :) Started out american, and finished english. ;)
I know it's an old video but it would be even better with two of the square blocks, spread the load a bit.
Made your bench dog system also, but with a loose stainless steel dog.
Works perfect
Awesome!
The BEST method by far. Old school is superior. Ya done good.
Sharp looking pieces too.
Great system. Kudos for linking to sources as well!
for people who are looking to replicate this, the square and wedge dimensions are related to the distance between dog holes.
Alan Fisher Could you specify the relationship for us? I'm planning on using this system...
Hi, I´m also interested. Thank you
No, you don't really need to make it specific to the distance between dog holes.
Make a square that's 8" by 8". Place the hole so it's 1" from one edge, and 3" from an adjacent edge.
Make the wedge so it goes from less than 1" to at more than 2" in width. You can now use the system on any bench that has a hole distance up to 9" apart, which should cover pretty much all benches. If you need more, make the wedge piece longer.
Very clever, nice job on the finished design. Thanks for sharing.
Idea is good only if you are sanding or shaving. But if you want to clamp down something you then want the dog clamp.
Great idea and good job on the video. I've been pricing dog hole clamps and the prices always ruin my day. This is such a simple and inexpensive (free!) solution to holding stuff!
Wow. This is amazing. I made a way uglier version out of scrap I found on the floor and it works great. Liked and subscribed :D
love this idea. I will me making some today, BRAVO!
Thank you! I don’t have a vise and this works well!
Is it my imagination or at 3:10 you all of a sudden turned into a British fella I’m totally confused. Nice work on the wedge mate
Mind bogglingly simple, thanks a million for sharing! - Are both pieces angled, something like 5°? What's the use of the big hole in the wedge piece?
I know I'm a bit late to the party but I reckon it's just to make it easier to pull out, hold, and hang up somewhere
Very nice idea! Great video and thanks for sharing!
Great Idea. Thanks from north Germany.
Awesome idea!
What type of wood are you using and the finish, I like the look but I am new to woodworking and can't distinguish wood types and finishes? Thanks
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing!!
Great idea, I love it, You have a new subscriber :)
Nice idea sir! What did you use for making a dog holes?
I use a plunge router with an 3/4 up-spiral bit to make dog holes. Works well, and it’s quick.
@@andypeterson9630 thank you so much for your reply
Super Idee 👌👌👌

10/10
Project 10 out 10. Presentation Crappy 1 out of 10.
great idea, but am i losing my shit? Did he speak without an accent for the first 3/4 of the video and then with an accent for the last 30 seconds? Sorry, first time here!
Yes that seems to be correct. In the last statement he decided to mimic an English accent. Society deems it ok to be racist to English culture. Not convinced?... well why wasn't it a Pakistani or Chinese accent? Because that would be racist?
@@Jddjdurjf I gave you a thumbs up because I am assuming that you are being ironic. I guess you'd have a point even if you were serious.
Caught it right away, weird
@@Jddjdurjf Why would you even say something so fucking stupid?
no, he definitely spoke with an American accent at the start
Ten minutes ago I almost lost the will to live while watching an excruciating version of this trick in this video czcams.com/video/6pyQCzmZmr0/video.html
Thank goodness I hit your link though, as your version was orders of magnitude better. I had not even thought of using a dog hole sized peg in the locking board for instance, and you took it up a couple of levels by offsetting the peg to give you distance options, and making it nice and wide effectively triangulating the clamping system. It didn't hurt that you made such a nice job of the parts either. Very nice work, and I picked up some very useful tips.
Can’t take seriously a MAN who wears his hat backwards.
Jeez Louise! Why use 10 words when 800 will do? Sorry but, you talk too much about anything except what you’re supposed to.
