Top Cold Places in Philippines |

- Cold places are hard to come by here in the Philippines, which is a tropical country. However, there are a few of those towns, nestled high up in the mountains that can give you that “cold weather” that you want. Here are some cold places that, in my opinion, qualify as retirement places too!
3:00 Baguio City, Benguet
4:35 Tagaytay, Cavite
5:50 Balamban, Cebu
6:50 Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidenntal
7:40 Malaybalay, Bukidnon

Finally someone talks about the cool places in the Philippines
My wife and I moved to the Philippines 4 years ago and found our paradise west of Tagaytay, near Alfonso. We seldom have to use our AC's and enjoy sitting outside among our tropical plants and listening to the birds and insects. I highly recommend living in this area.

What a wonderful video you made. Thank you for your clear & easy to follow recommendations. I think you read my mind. :) Having been to many hot locations in The Philippines, my next trip will definitely be to more temperate locations & I am thinking Balamban or Malaybalay.
One of the things that I noticed about getting to high up to cooler places is that the humidity can cause mold issues and metal roofs can sweat if you don't have proper ventilation.
Always wondered about what were the high altitude cooler places to live in the Phillipines. Thanks for providing this content.

Very nice, informative video. I love mountains, but was born in San Antonio, Texas. I’m used to hot temperatures, but when my pond plants dried up and died WHILE FLOATING IN WATER during a drought, it was time to move to cooler, non drought Arkansas.

Thanks I was considering retiring on Thailand or Philippines but after a week of vacationing in St. Maarten I'm reminded of how much I hate heat and sweating all the time. This is what I'm looking for cooler options in the Philippines

OTher than the wet, raining season, the Philippines has the EXACT same weather as Flordia. I'm from Florida and have been to the Philippines dozens of times. Moving to Baguio in 2024. Looking forward to it. Great video.

Nice video and very informative. I knew already about Tagaytay and Baguio but not the other three places, salamat for sharing. How about San Fernando...La Union near Baguio, is it also cooler there?
san fernando is already in lowland so its very hot. average temp is around 28-32 degrees celcius. so if you're from Baguio and want to go tona beach then san fernando is the place. only 1.5 hours away
Your namesake - Eden, Toril, Davao City, elevation is 817 meters, 25 minutes from Gaisano mall, hospitals; and 45 minutes from downtown Davao City, the safest city in the country where you find S&R, a Costco equivalent, two SM malls, top-rated hospitals and restaurants.

My family and I live in Antipolo - at altitude (around 800m above sea-level). There is no need for air-con. I even found myself being cold in the the winter months. We came here from Hong Kong, where the heat and humidity can be quite oppressive. Incidentally, I am British and my wife is a Filipina. Our kids are a mish-mash!
Perhaps you mean 800 feet. Antipolo is about 250m high. But yes, the evenings there are very pleasant

Thank you for bringing Balamban to my attention! I am moving to the Philippines from the United States after I find the right comfortable location. It is so great that you live there, so I value your perspective. Are there apartments or houses for rent in the mountain areas around Balamban? And what do apartments or houses rent for in and around Balamban? Hopefully, I can find something in the cooler area for less than $400/mo. (USD). I believe there are apartments in the city for as little as $150/mo. :)

I am thinking of the Philippines for retirement. But it will take 9-10 years to build enofe savings to have the passive income(modest to moderate, not rich) but I have been looking at city prices. It never occurred to me to check out the mountain towns. I would love to know the price ranges for home and cost of living difference. I guess that is my next research project. Thank you.

I am living in Cebu Philippines for about 80K per month for two of us. 80K is almost $1,500. My rent is 8K. My WiFi is 1K. My water in 300 pesos. My electric is 2K (I do not have air conditioner), but I pay 2K to park my car, I pay 2 pesos per km to drive my motorcycle and 15 pesos per km to drive my car. I budget 6K per week for food and that includes drinking water for two of us and about a third of that budget gets to extended family. Soon, I will have the a13 visa. My wife passed away and I remarried here. Being 72, I do not do that much here. You do need six months income for an emergency, say medical self insurance. I think there is more freedom in the Philippines flying under the radar than living in the US with its automated government in place. The cost of freedom, and depending on what you want for freedom, is that cost to just comfortably live and that for me is roughly 45% of what the cost is in the US. The doctors scare me. The bathrooms are clean. Lots of needy people here. A lot of management systems do not work well. Amazon delivers some products to the Philippines. The import fees will get your attention. The legal system is a façade. I am from Arizona. The humidity was a problem when I first got here ten years ago. I like the weather more now. But no one has robbed me or hurt me.

This is one place my husband and I are looking at to relocate. The other was Thailand but now that they will be taxing any incomes made from outside we changed our minds. Will the Philippines be doing the same thing?
