I do have a question. If I was to release music it will probably be through distrokid, because they upload music to all the stores at once, would there be 1 target to aim for in terms of lufs?
Native Gringo check out the video coming later this week. I explain this in detail :)
Awesome 👌🎶💪🔊

Your RMS after after the limiter has changed everything for me. I can finally settle on a mix that isn't perfect and be somewhat satisfied. This one of the most important mixing videos I've ever came across. I wish more mixers were as honest as you. Thank you, thank you and thank you. Devine is what your are dude. Peace!
This is a great explanation. Thank you for delivering quality content Sean! It's so helpful. I've been an active viewer for a while now. Maybe like 5 years. And I return these videos frequently to help my grow my engineering skills. You are appreciated!
I just started back with music production after a 10 year break. It’s almost like I’m starting over. Everything has changed so much. This video is 5 years old and I’m trying to learn from it.
Came back because I forget everything 😅
😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝
YOOO deadass thank you for explaining the difference between RMS and LUFS so clearly and detailed too in this video. Watched a lot videos about the two and never could wrap my head around it.
glad to hear it was helpful 🙌
Wow amazing can’t wait for the next videos on this subject.
Going back and learning a lot from last years videos! And as always - it's so inspiring! Thank's Sean!
glad to hear it :)
I’ve had these questions for a year or so now. Thank you !!!
Great video and very well explained. Well done and thanks for sharing!
dude great content and information, you broke this down really well and the track sounds dope!
Loudness is perceived. Very enlightening. Just the way that feeling warm or cool is arbitrary based on the relativity of our senses. Good lecture fam!
Your mastering tutorial with LPX plugins is one of my favourites. Thank you Sean.
appreciate you Mark!
Really helpful and down to earth video. Great delivery and explanation of LUFS in comparison to true peak and RMS.
Much appreciated!
Thanks man! Great work and very clear! Thanks thanks thanks! Greetings from Holland! Have a great day Sean!
Great explanation, too the point with no waffling around like some do.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge so succinctly - it helps a lot.
Super important. Thanks for the video man!
Thanks Sean, helping me build concept of RMS & True Peak & LUFS in logic & help how to use them.
Great to hear!
Great way to explain, never knew about the integrated levels!!
Glad it was helpful!
Your voice calms me.
I always use three loudness meters: RMS (usually for low frequencies, bass notes), LUFS_short for control mix with&without vocal, calibrated K12. And sometimes VU meter.
Студия звукозаписи Elegata Music fun yea
Very well explained!
thank you!
This was extremely helpful. Thanks for taking the time to explain!
🤜
I love how you have proper leveling of the video's audio as well. perfect level
A very succinct explanation. Thank you.
1:32 LUFS ( Loudness Unit Full Scale)
4:17 Loudness standard- Streaming platform
for those on the quest for the perfect signal, this is the total bonus unlockables, cheers!
The sound of the into is sick!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😱😱😱
Just popped by to say your explanation was ...
*Waggles eyebrows*
Divine.
And severely informative. Thank you.
glad it helped :) thanks!
Thanks Sean. An important topic that is confusing to many (ok, me at least).
I liked the whole video, of course, but the RMS and LUFS talk was a good refresher. Thank you.
:)
great video--thanks Sean
Great Video.. Thank you so much.. Very helpful!
really helpful video. thanks for the wisdom man
Thanks for this video I found it helpful, even though I’m just starting to understand what all this means and apply to this all my tracks, it’s great to have a guide and I just downloaded levels and Expose, to get my mixes ready for other streaming services like Spotify and sound cloud again, as I feel there at that professional stage before release
This was great and to the point. Thanks!
Just Subscribed, you are a great teacher man. Thank You
🙌🙏
Thank you for your explanation of LUFS :)
This was a very helpful video.Thank you.
Great! You are explained very understandable manner.
I am new to audio editing. I have a spec for loudness/peak. How to achieve this.
Loudness Guidelines:
All audio work must meet the following requirements
1. The targeted loudness should be -16 LUFS
2. Short form programming (Less than 60 sec) shouldn't exceed -14 LUFS
3. The True Peak Level shouldn't exceed -3 dB TP to prevent clipping when using lossy encoders
All measurements should be taken for the whole program
Awesome video man
Thank you so much for the needed tips bro, because I see a lot of youtube beats at -5 for LUFS and it hurts my ears lol.
Thanks for the valuable information!
This video is Great! Thanks for all the information.!
My pleasure Pablo!
Always a plus!
Right on Time ! 🙏🏾❤️
:)
Well explained, thanks for this man!
sure thing :)
love that bass tone in the intro, nicely saturated 😀
thanks :)
Love all your tutorials. Will you ever make a video giving tips on how to use a spectral analyzer for us engineers working in non studio areas?
thanks! I'll see what I can do :)
well done - good presentation style - articulate
Thanks for the kinds words 🙏
Dude this was a great great great explanation of the metering because I still struggle I am using a VUMT and I love it but I don’t think it has lufs
awesome video! thanks bro
Thnx a LOT Sean!
Great content👏🏻👍🏼🥂✨
Thank you for this. It was very helpful.
sure thing, glad to hear it
Thanks so much!!
thanks for that 🙏
Just what I needed.

Nice video, it's very clear!
Glad it was helpful!
you rule! thank you!!!!!
great video! thanks!
sure thing!
Thank you for this bro.
Any time 🙌
thanks man!
broooo epic beat!
nice info!
Hey Sean, really helpful video but one quick thing. I heard that Logic meters are not accurate as they weren't calibrated using the AES17 (Standard meter calibration). That's what happens as well with Voxengo SPAN, their RMS marks 3dbs less of what actually is. You can check if their calibration it's alright by playing a sinewave and check your meters. Your RMS has to be the same as your peak as a sinewave doesn't have a dynamic range. When doing that and loading Voxengo It told me that my RMS was 3dbs lower. What you can do in Voxengo its to use the DBFS+3 Metering. If you don't want to use another meter bear in mind that you have to add +3dbs of what your meter is telling you. Hope this helps!
very informative.
Thanks for the video, I've got a question: I'm trying to get all my CZcams recordings to a standard of -19 LUFS, but for some of them (since I used different recording settings), I'm unable to hit a higher true peak (for some the true peak is -1.5dB, for other recordings its -4dB). Now I'm not sure which parameter I should prioritize, should I increase my LUFS to get high true peaks, or leave the LUFS as it is, at expense of lower true peaks? Thanks.
Thank you brother
sure thing!
Thanks :)
All the way from the start,i can feel it in my heart like its gona be good coz its Sean Divine
🙏
Thanks to you man that we as amateur producers can learn a lot of things in this industry through your tutorial, learned a lot over the years but not so as i do now from your videos.
Hi Sean! Thnx for the clear video, really helpful. Question: what software brand are the Level Meter and the LUFS Meter you pull up at 0:13? Thnx!
Great vid thanks. Still not sure I understand what should I look for or what number to target the RMS for (when producing and mixing, not for mastering if it makes any sense)
Thank you for the insight. is -14 LUFS also the standard for streaming on CZcams and Facebook?
thanks for explanation
sure thing!
thank you
Hi, Sean!
As always, your tutorials are awesome! I just need to clarify something? If I have a -6dB headroom on my master output, and the mix should be at -12dB to -10dB RMS level while maintaining the peaks of -6dB to -3dB Peak level without clipping, is that situation good for a mix before sending it for mastering?
Thanks for the help.
Cheers,
Ivan
thanks Ivan! Yes, as long as you have 4-6 dB of peak headroom, that's usually more than enough (unless the mix is totally off)
I've been looking closely at the "TP" level and noticed they're equivalent.. Looking at my session they're not but will be at times during playback. Is this due to panning or plugins used on certain regions/tracks.. ?
I'm really enjoying the videos dude. One Q: So what's the difference between Peak and True Peak? I see there's the option in that level meter to have different levels. Thanks, Sean!
thanks Elliott! True peak is a more accurate peak reading that takes into account the conversion from digital to analog (which can result in overs that peak doesn't detect)
Could you go into detail about what frequencies constitutes “loudness.” like rms is affected more by bass.
Great video! Thanks a lot! But i have a question! Do you release a video about how to deliever your music to a target LUFS and RMS? If it`s there please link the video! Thanks!

This was very helpful, thanks!!
Nice
Good morning! Is the ozone plug in virtually the same as the multimeter and how do we use it?
good video
Man, thanks
THANKS
🙌
thank u
With so many meters available, which should we use when gain staging, mixing, etc?
I'm new to recording in DAW. One of the biggesat problem I have is when mixing down to 2 tracks and then export
it to itunes the levels of individual tracks are not level so the song sounds sound terrible. awahat am I doing wrong?
Great video on loud I a question what brand of plug-ins are you using, the true Peak RMS, AND LUFS
they're stock in logic
Thanks for this video. My Daw is Studio One 5. For gainstaging whant can we use? RMS? K20? k14? Thanks
Hello, thank you for video! I am not experienced and have this question, i made level for LUFS -14 but then in car fir example i listen my track and somebodys star on spotify, its feels my track less loud, why? What shoulx i do?
the -14 LUFS standard typically only comes in to play if the listener has "normalization" options active. If they are off, you're hearing the song at the levels it was delivered czcams.com/video/hb0t98EWkUk/video.html
Sean if we're aiming for a -16 LUFS mix, should we ignore the True Peak value as long it's not peaking? Also, what dynamic response level is good, I think it’s PLR / Crest factor, right? Thanks - R
Qual a quantidade de lufs que eu aplique na minha master que minha música fique boa em todas as plataformas digitais
Sem eu ta masterizando minha música para cada plataforma digital
So basically -1db peak is the new standard for delivering a record to Streaming Services?
essentially just below 0dB TRUE peak
Interesting video. I never heard of LUFS until I watched it. Ok. Question... If I have two identical speakers except one is rated at 100 RMS watts and the other is rated at 250 RMS watts, will there be a difference in LUFS? Thanks!
Pls give us the option to save offline
