It's so funny. Many, many years ago I watched a video called something like "Top 10 DBZ soundtracks". The guy making the video put your Cell theme as number one and said something like "It's so good that, to this day, no one has been able to make a remix that's better than the original". Little did he know, it was already a remix

Oh shit! This has been a big mystery to me for years! I was there when Mike created the original P-Cell theme so when I realized this remix had like supplanted the original I needed to know who made it. In the other video you mention, I was the guy who made the forum post at the end where I had also found Bid for Power back in 2015. I believe I had also found the name ALX and found it to be a dead end, but here you are 9 years later! (and 23 years after you created it). Anyway great job on that remix. It has proven the test of time! I think I even mentioned it during a SSJ concert last year. Nice to meet you at last!
What I loved about your remix is that it reminded me of the Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2's sountrack, which was the first and last time they experimented with the sountrack so much. It was very electronic-industrial mixed with various synths, rocky metal, dnb and refined with some traditional asiatic instruments. Non arguably, the best sountrack collection to date out of all Dragon Ball anything.
That particular soundtrack had the likes of Hiromi Mizutani, Kenji Fujisawa, and Hideyuki Fukasawa working on it. (And somehow it's still only ever Yamamoto who got his game soundtrack projects released...)
@@shira158 Yea, poor credits are a thing on most of the internet for big series like this, which is why we have places like MobyGames, VGMdb and Kanzenshuu. (One thing I noticed about Yamamoto games is that up till RB2 his projects almost always got released standalone while the same wasn’t the case for just about anyone else who worked on a DB game.)

I searched everywhere for the original .wav version, and will post it if I can find it, but unfortunately so far I could only find a shortened version in lossless format. However I did at least find the original mp3 export. Sadly it's 128kbit/s, which was a common format back in 2001 because bandwidth was very limited, especially in Australia. But to my ears it still sounds better than the CZcams version. It's cool to know that the Faulconer Productions soundtrack had an impact on you as a composer, and even more so that you also know about the ghostwriters behind it. Used to listen to that whole soundtrack 9 years ago along with other material, but compared to then its problems are quite apparent to me now, so I don't really have it in any of my personal libraries along with the many that I've found over the years.
Yeah totally. I was always inspired by how well the music worked with the characters, story and action. The mixing is very "90's broadcast" style - everything back then was often quite compressed, and the upper mid frequencies were hyped and accentuated, which was a common mixing style that catered to the kind of crappy speakers most TVs had back then. Some of the orchestral / instrumental parts of the score definitely sound a bit dated by today's standards, but I still find the power of the synths and drum samples to be very impressive, and I think it stands up very well, especially as a score that supports and enhances the story throughout the show. Thank you brother. I've been listening to this song as long as it has been on the internet. I was working in a grocery store getting through school in my early 20s around 2002-2003 and this was one of the songs I burned to the CD in mp3 format. The CD has around 12 hours of random music on it so I had something to listen to while I worked. I got my copy of your song off of bear share or kazza back when that's how file sharing was done. I downloaded rips of all of Dragonball Z and GT series and also the movies that I could find and lots of music for the show and still have the 20 GB harddrive that I put all the files on. I like the Funi theme it get's the job done, but your vision and what you turned it into MADE it iconic to me. You Bro, create it a Masterpiece Dope and Epic Soundtrack Remix...Iconic DBZ Soundtrack Remix Ambience Indeed... In my eyes Cell it's one of the best Villans of the DBZ Series, and he's my personal favourite Villan. Cell was arguably the Z-Warrior's most difficult opponent and not just because he was strong but also because he was strategic (a rare trait for a Dragon Ball villain). He has the cells of all the Z-Warriors and their enemies (most predominantly Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Frieza) which he can use to his advantage both in fighting abilities and psychologically. Previous and following villains were quickly surpassed in the arcs that succeeded them but in the Majin Buu Saga no one matched let alone surpassed Cell till Majin Buu himself came. He even not only made Goku give up but is the only villain to successfully kill him. Cell is easily one of the more iconic Dragon Ball villains and his influence reflects that. Despite bein alive for only a couple years he led way for the Saiyans to surpass the SSJ wall and allowed Piccolo to become one with Kami. His defeat also allowed Mr. Satan to go from world champion to world's savior who later went from one-note gag to a greedy yet decent goofball (legit) hero. Dragon Ball is often perceived as super simplistic never taking any risks with it's story and characters but Cell is a surprisingly complex character. As already mentioned, he has the cells of all the Z-Warriors and as such he shows numerous personality traits of them such as Vegeta's ego, Piccolo's cunning, Frieza's faux politeness (without the sarcasm), Daimao's sadism, and the Saiyan's lust for a challenge. This also ends up being his downfall as he makes the same mistakes he criticized the Z-Warriors for making. ☯️✌️

I didn't grow up watching the American version of Dragon Ball Z, so Bruce Faulconer's soundtrack was unknown to me at the time, and yet I only needed to watch a couple of videos to fall in love with that version and realize how special it was. Some of those theme songs seem much better to me than the originals (Gohan Fights Frieza, Vegeta SSJ, Goku SSJ3). And as you say, all credit to Bruce Faulconer and the team involved behind that great soundtrack, but to be honest your version of the Perfect Cell theme is far superior to the original. It's amazing what a little free time and ingenuity can create. The funny thing is that the first time I heard the remix on CZcams I thought it was the original version, and when I heard the original version I was a little disappointed in comparison. "The exaggerated swagger of a perfect lifeform." The best comment I saw about your remix.

I grew up during the era that this remix was created and heard it through flash games before being formally introduced to the song via the curlyhairdude535 upload. It is insane to me to think we are all at once looking to our pasts multifold and finding things that made us happy like this badass remix. Thank you for helping set the stage of what would eventually just become 'early 2000s' extract in my mind. Also the bruce faulconer music for dragon ball is chefs kiss i agree.

You Bro, create it a Masterpiece Dope and Epic Soundtrack Remix...Iconic DBZ Soundtrack Remix Ambience Indeed... In my eyes Cell it's one of the best Villans of the DBZ Series, and he's my personal favourite Villan. Cell was arguably the Z-Warrior's most difficult opponent and not just because he was strong but also because he was strategic (a rare trait for a Dragon Ball villain). He has the cells of all the Z-Warriors and their enemies (most predominantly Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Frieza) which he can use to his advantage both in fighting abilities and psychologically. Previous and following villains were quickly surpassed in the arcs that succeeded them but in the Majin Buu Saga no one matched let alone surpassed Cell till Majin Buu himself came. He even not only made Goku give up but is the only villain to successfully kill him. Cell is easily one of the more iconic Dragon Ball villains and his influence reflects that. Despite bein alive for only a couple years he led way for the Saiyans to surpass the SSJ wall and allowed Piccolo to become one with Kami. His defeat also allowed Mr. Satan to go from world champion to world's savior who later went from one-note gag to a greedy yet decent goofball (legit) hero. Dragon Ball is often perceived as super simplistic never taking any risks with it's story and characters but Cell is a surprisingly complex character. As already mentioned, he has the cells of all the Z-Warriors and as such he shows numerous personality traits of them such as Vegeta's ego, Piccolo's cunning, Frieza's faux politeness (without the sarcasm), Daimao's sadism, and the Saiyan's lust for a challenge. This also ends up being his downfall as he makes the same mistakes he criticized the Z-Warriors for making. ☯️✌️

I didn't grow up watching the American version of Dragon Ball Z, so Bruce Faulconer's soundtrack was unknown to me at the time, and yet I only needed to watch a couple of videos to fall in love with that version and realize how special it was. Some of those theme songs seem much better to me than the originals (Gohan Fights Frieza, Vegeta SSJ, Goku SSJ3).
And as you say, all credit to Bruce Faulconer and the team involved behind that great soundtrack, but to be honest your version of the Perfect Cell theme is far superior to the original. It's amazing what a little free time and ingenuity can create.
The funny thing is that the first time I heard the remix on CZcams I thought it was the original version, and when I heard the original version I was a little disappointed in comparison.

I grew up during the era that this remix was created and heard it through flash games before being formally introduced to the song via the curlyhairdude535 upload. It is insane to me to think we are all at once looking to our pasts multifold and finding things that made us happy like this badass remix. Thank you for helping set the stage of what would eventually just become 'early 2000s' extract in my mind. Also the bruce faulconer music for dragon ball is chefs kiss i agree.
