The pese with fuataimi certainly is an unique Samoan innovation; a platform for the fuataimi to show-off a little, to act the clown and to be serious all at once; acting out the song lyrics sung by the group to firstly acknowledge God, Samoan history and to convey a message and much more I should think. I'm not Samoan, don't know the language, but I'm a keen observer of Samoan culture and dance. And so I miss out on a lot and can only go by the ''externals'', so to speak - that's the way it goes.
