The challenge is always to balance size (comfort), capacity and shootability. i believe the Shield plus does a good job with that balance.
Thanks for the excellent head to head comparison of the top CCH’s. Makes me all the more satisfied and pleased with my Shield Plus purchase!!
Thanks for video between G19 and the plus. I currently use 19, was was looking for something smaller which I tired the G26 which I didn’t like. I believe this video will has me sold on the plus
Great review!! Thanks
Love the simple videos that cut through the hype. Just a bunch of similar guns with quick to identify differences and some minor differences that might be a big deal or might not be.
The best vid for shield plus by far!!!!
I owned the G43, Sig P365, original Shield and Shield 2.0 before settling on the Walther PPS M2 so I appreciate the comparison. The Shield Plus looks nice but man I love the Walther to much to make the switch for the time being.
Perfect for the long drive to work. Great review we know how much you two love your Shields.
i wish i had a "long" 11 min drive to work!
Thanks for another awesome video! Would love to see the 365xl vs shield+4"!
i like these size comparison videos
I think I'd really like the Shield Plus. My P365 is just a bit too small for my hands. I can shoot it OK but have never been able to get truly comfortable with it. I passed on the Shield last year because of the capacity. If I were buying this year, I think it would be this one. Just big enough to handle well with my long fingers but still conceals well.
My unloaded, cleaned, lightly oiled Shield Plus weights 20 3/8 oz with the 10 round mag in. 20 7/8 oz with the 13 round mag in. On my Chinese made Kitchen scales 🤔
Great comparison with all of these guns. The smaller shorter grip is good for some some people and not so much for others. I have larger hands so I sold my P365 and went with a slightly longer fatter grip. I can shoot those better. Not bashing the sig which is a awesome carry gun. I don’t see many comparisons to the glock G43X with the 15 round shield mags. I went to that and it fits my hand perfectly and is very accurate. And yes I had to put sights and the 2- 15 round shield mags but money is not a issue in getting a carry gun you feel comfortable shooting. Thanks for the review. I’ve held the shield plus and like all the other shield guns they are slightly larger but like you said they are a good shooting gun if you like a slightly larger grip. My next trip to the gun store maybe I’ll pick one up. Thanks
Great vid as always man, think you could compare the plus to the 26 gen 5 in the future? I know they're kind of different set-ups, but capacity is the same and it would be cool to see how they compare dimension wise having that same capacity. Much love & respect all the way from Puerto Rico ✌🏼
The shield plus is the perfect size and a decent price to boot. I’m sold
Agreed. They were over priced when they first came out ($550-600 for the base model), but I'm starting to see some of them at around $500 now. Sure they're larger and wider than the P365 and the Hellcat which provides the same capacity/slightly more rounds in a smaller package, but the extra size of the Shield Plus makes getting a good grip and controlling the recoil much easier. If I didn't own an OSP Hellcat or invest into so many upgrades for it already, I'd probably choose the Shield Plus between the two if Smith & Wesson releases an optics ready model.
Nice video, I really did want to see it next to M&P 9c subcompact
I have the M&P9 subcompact. It's shorter but thicker. Even though I am getting the shield I am keeping my subcompact b/c 1) I can use 17 round regular size mag 2) I can use a 15 round compact mag 3) I can use a 32 round mag which also fits into my Keltec sub2000 which is my SUV gun.
Good stuff.
The Shield plus is 20.2 oz per its website.
Yes, and that made this whole video not credible in the beginning.
Sig p365 is the smallest, lightest, & the grip shape is best to conceal carry.
I guess each person has a different experience. I don't find the hellcat or the p365 snappy. Yes a little more so than a g19 size gun, but to me not much. Where I did find the 9mm snappy is in the sccy ,the very small, diamond back db9 pistols , the keltec pf 9 were all what I consider snappy, though I still don't find them uncomfortable to shoot in anyway. I think sig, smith and wesson, springfield, ruger have done a great job making these micro 9 pistols very shootable.
Hellcat comes with a 13 rnd magazine that makes the handle same length as shield.
Your a bit off on the shield plus weight its heavier than the 17.9 you posted.
It seems to be about the size of an XDS, which is nice and all, but the comparisons with the Hellcat, P365, etc. are unfair IMO. Of course those guns are snappier. They are shorter all the way around, and while the difference is only a half-inch here or there, when you aren't overweight and don't wear oversized cargo pants all the time, the true micro-compact size of the Hellcat, etc. makes a big difference in being able to conceal.
Appreciate the video!! Quick question, what’s the height on the Shield EZ compared to the Shield Plus? B
I'm the last man alive with the first m&p full size
Hellcat 🎯❤
I don’t think they cerakoted the production models. Mine has a “normal” flat finish/appearance on the polymer lower.
The Ruger MAX-9 is a better bang for the money.
@@LK-gw6to
I feel the the Sheild Plus is way over priced for what you get. And it's heavy compared to the other pistols in the same class.
@@LK-gw6to
I had the 365. I didn't care for it much so I sold it. Right now I have been carrying to G43 with there 15 round flush fit mag. And thanks for sharing your views and thoughts. You make a lot of good points to consider.
@@LK-gw6to
I haven't had any issue with the magazine catch. But I might just order the upgrade kit anyway just to be on the safe side.
It’s less bang for less money
Wish you had used 12 rd. mag w/std. P 365. Good review !
What about the 43X MOS?
What’s the Revolver thing on the workbench? All the small/hi capacity guns...personal preference.not saving a few $ or any of that. 365 XL for me ,all daylong.
guns are not 1 size fits all. If it cc well with your body size and type of shirt you wear, then the gun is ideal for you. I have an athletic body, and i wear slim t-shirt most of the time. G42, G43, p365 is ideal for me. Love the shield plus, but it is on the bigger side.
How much is that?
I love my full size m&p but I'm a 365xl kinda guy 4 carry 🤷♂️
Unless I missed it, have you produced a vid on Sw M&P 2.0 subcompact yet? Very interested in yours and Mrs Hegshot's comments. Thank you for sharing and be safe.
I love my M&P subcompact. I also think I'm going to like the Performance Center Shield. I love Smith & Wesson
I really blame S&W for not adding a picatany rail on this one! The hellcat has it, and it is shorter!
Then buy a hellcat🤷 cc weapons aren't meant to have lights/lasers.... They are for concealment..... Defeats the purpose to add all that dumb shit to a pocket gun 🤦
I'm sure streamlight will have something similar to the TLR6 for the new shield and Ruger Max9 before too long.
@@tiansummers2110 For those of us who don´t want to buy a ton of weapons, a picattiny rail allows for a "holster to night-stand" type of gun, wich is great givien the high capacitiy of these little pistols!
Again get a gun that accommodates both.. You threw the shield under the bus and praised the HC for what.... You could've just got the 1 you want and said nothing.... Didn't your mother teach you if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything..... Its one of those kinda deals
@@tiansummers2110 Cry me a river!
Wanted to see the difference between Vp9sk
Nice comparison vid. I still think the P365 is better than the new shield. I wish the shield plus came with standard night sights. The Ruger Max 9 seems to be the best option if you’re looking for everything at a decent price.
I think S&W dropped the ball on the shield plus. Basic irons and no optics cut while the competition offers those features as standard. At least they fixed that terrible hinged trigger.
The P365 still fits in my pocket better and is a little lighter. All nice guns but no reason for me to change
@@robertwagner7367 , the Performance Center Shield + has optics availability & ported barrel option.
@@kensnyder2340 it also includes an upcharge. The optics ready model is also only available on the 4in gun and I am not a fan of ported pistols. They seem to want to nickel and dime us on features that the others have included on base models.
@@robertwagner7367 , that's true.
Been trying to find one of these at a good price for weeks......I will have one, but I am getting the PC version....your thoughts on the PC?
Bought the Performance Edition, 4 in barrel with optics and red dot... I absolutely LOVED it for 28 days... Until today the red dot stopped working, changed battery, still dead in the water.. On the bright side, I was able to put 200 rounds down range using just the fiber optics. The red dot can't be turned off or on.. It's always on...
I know this is a shield video, but how do you like the ruger max 9? I've been considering, but I've had some issues with their slide finishes in the past. No issues with Smith, sig, spreingfield etc. What are your thoughts?
If you buy the ruger just get the slide coated.
So I don’t understand. I live in CT and I can’t get more then 10 rounds mags. So I see it comes with a 13 round mag. I would like this gun so what do they do in a situation like that?
You would buy a state compliant model. It would include 10 round mags in place of the 13 round ones.
How ya get your guns so shiny..😅..great review thank you
Any issues with the mag release binding up for you at all? Mine seems to get stuck pretty easy.
If anyone else knows why this happens, please let me know as well. I'm having the same issue
@@JacksonWalter735 I contacted S&W and they are sending me a new mag release. Not sure it will work, seems like the tolerances are just a touch too tight. I did oil it up pretty heavy and that seems to help a little but you can still hear/feel the plastic rubbing in the handle.
Just picked up the Xds 9 mod 2 OSP. Tight little pistol
Show this with the 13 round mag, pretty sure the majority of people are going to be running it that way
Hellcat all the way.
so no 43x....
Where does it match up too a Taurus G2c ?
Taking notes ✍️ Message :) 🔫🎯🔫
so the shield plus is glossy black, not matte?
Mine is actually matte, not the glossy black. Looks better in matte imho.
Mine is like Steven's. It's matte. The lower is polymer of course. The slide is stainless steel. With what S&W calls armornite. Which is a really good looking finish!. Possibly better looking than what's on my Beretta 92fs.
Fix those glock 19 sights
Why is your Glock 19 rear sight pushed all the way to the right? I really hope that isn’t purposely to help you shoot straight 🤦🏻♂️
The 1/2 inch does not make much difference in the waist band 🙄🙄
the shield plus is a 13 + 1 round
So they're all about the same, just pick round count for the win
As Clint Smith has said nothing smaller than a Glock 19. Dress around the gun. Small enough to conceal big enough to fight with
Respectfully that doesn't work for everyone.
Clint Smith says a lot of stuff, doesn't mean it's right for everyone. People have different body types, different sized hands, different dress styles.
A Glock 19 is easy to conceal if you walk about in baggy clothes all of the time, but doesn't work so great if you dress up to not look like a hobo.
You can still setup a small pistol to use a 15 rd magazine if capacity is the concern.
@@DevDog67 very well said
