You gotta admire the little guy's industriousness and thoroughness and persistence.
And that of the mouse too.
Great. Now I need Matthias to do a video with plans for keeping coffee from being sprayed on my monitor.
dlwatib 9
make the maze huge please
Yeah, a big maze would be amazing!
yuge
a-maze-ing!
3 story maze with plexiglass in between stories. And made the hole to get out of the bucket either a trap or one-way exit.
Also no possibility to enter through the exit
Those mice are having so much fun with all these experiments 😂
I do agree I do love watching the mouse doing the maze!
Holy sht I thought those sunflower seeds were dead mice
Sammeeee
Same as me
Same🤤🤤
same i almost screamed
Evan Devin not me seen then like 100 times
You need a flap door over the exit, so the mouse needs to go through the trap to get back in.
good idea
And see if the high-value reward is worth it to the mouse to get dunked every time.
WITH A COUNTER ON IT TO SEE HOW MANY TIMES IN AND OUT!!!!
this would have been great with the sunflower seeds!
Surely a 3rd raspberry pi computer will be able to count.
That mouse has trained you well to provide peanut butter for him.
lecirconflex o
Lol
this mouse must be all "this is great! got a new house with peanut butter and a diving board!"
That computer setup tho
that-one-guy it's probably his old computer which he doesn't use in his room. Because that's his barn right? He may be having a modern PC in his room which he probably used to edit this video. I am just assuming this may not be the case and he could be actually poor but the chances of that seems slim to me.
He definitely has a modern computer inside the house. That's just the shack he has in the backyard dude.
Maybe he has a 90's computer in his house, who the f cares? lol
that-one-guy did I say it was bad? No so stop trying to be tuff fuk boi
Ghost Tech can it run arma 3 tho
Pretty clever mouse. I wonder if it can build a bandsaw?
We shall name it Field Moussias Wandel.
or Field Maussias Wandel. (maus = German for mouse. Pronounced just like mouse)
Cameron Gibbon cv
Jim Dockrell. not sure about a bandsaw but I think they can learn to use twigs as simple tools.
Jim Dockrell not sure bout dat
Very interesting, I never knew mice could learn so quickly, especially towards the end where it was traversing the maze without any issues!
Traversing throug holes in houses is much more of a maze, and they learn that quite well, unfortunately.
I think they use scent to help their memory to some degree as well. I reckon if one cleaned that maze perhaps. It might traverse it curiously once more as if to ascertain it is the same maze or not.
Helveteshit Possibly, I guess we tend to forget how much animals use scent to find their way around things... as humans scent senses aren't as strong.
its a good question - are they just tracing their smell? to an extent, yes. This is why neuroscientists (Richard Morris) developed the hidden platform water maze experiment. Mice (or usually rats) have are places in a pool of water where there is a hidden platform where they can rest. They can't follow scent or visual cues, it simply tests their luck and then on subsequent runs, their memory. The first time they'll swim about randomly a bit until they find the platform. The next time they do it they'll swim a bit more randomly but usually find the platform quicker. By the third or fourth time they usually head straight for the platform. Rodents learn quick.
It seems that it was better at remembering the right way out every next day/night. Could it be that it processes the informations at sleep like humans do? Everyone who has practised something over a long time, like playing a music instrument, knows this.
Its interestig that the mouse starts to remember the right way
They may also remember by following a scent.
very interesting
@@BillAnt point of the quotation marks?
They have no bladder control and they constantly leak urine. Their urine especially the male mouse house mouse and deer mouse uses it to mark its territory and to attract a mate . The urine has a very strong distinctive smell of ammonia. It’s highly dangerous and toxic to humans same with their droppings saliva and everything they touch particularly when it dries and becomes airborne. I only found this out because of a mouse infestation in my house . I knew nothing about mice. I didn’t know how dangerous to your health they are even deadly. I feel awful laying traps. I cried the other night when two were caught. They are so beautiful. Not a mark on them. They were killed outright and didn’t suffer. But it’s still horrible. My health has suffered dreadfully I’m already very sick and disabled. I’m moving out. But they are very smart and very cute. Funny to watch in these videos. This video is awesome and fun to watch. Mice are little hoarders and they take stuff back to their nest. The nest will be very close to the food source. They have to constantly gnaw on things to keep their teeth short. So they will chew through wood virtually anything they can even electrical cables which is very dangerous! They can live without water and they will absorb fluids from seeds nuts cereal you name it. They will eat soap and even glue or cardboard and paper. And shockingly eat each other! If they can’t find food that is. So they’re omnivores. Not sure why I gave you all this useless information. But they are fascinating I have to admit. So yes I’ve done my homework. I had to I guess 😉
@@PEACEinYESHUA-oj7vc1pk7w if tou think theyre cute and funny, you should get pet mice! They obviously dont pose any threat and are very smart and playful! You also seem to know a lot about them.
Matthias, the audio you did for this video is brilliant. Loved every minute :)
You should add a one way push door at the end of the maze so they don't enter that way
He should block off the exit completely and make the maze much bigger.
KrazyCam10
KrazyCam1
That mouse was scared of heights
Agreed, and put peanut butter inside of maze to see if it would jump from the bucket to go get it
Dude you could create a 5 million sub channel off the concept of screwing with this mouse... lol
mnelson10000 😂😂😂😂
🤔
mnelson10000 why don't you?
mnelson10000 sydu
Arman Khan Khan maybe because he doesnt have that mouse in any of his propeties.
I think you should build a bigger maze
ayogod Nation *N
His mice are dumb tho
This is actually very intresting!
By the end of the video, the mouse has doubled in weight from all that Peanut butter LOL
readyset and now it's diabetic
and will be suing him to pay for medical bills
Proportionally eating that much peanut butter and not drink there should be a close-up watching it.
She burned up more calories by moving and running lol
readyset
Need to rig the exit up with a mouse-a-pult. I mean they are field mice, send them home. It's the right thing to do.
Animal cruelty isn't funny
holnrew I enjoy it
Shane Chambers psychopath

I find these videos really relaxing to watch idk why
That mouse eat well..

**consumed food
*got fat
*filled his gullet
Boy Sik is the mouse a facial Razer?
That was really interesting to watch! Wife and I were only slightly creeped out by the amount of mice and bugs in your shed...
It's a rural setting
Peter Brown welcome to Canada
Peter Brown hey Pete big fan man!

And that my children is how a mouse becomes fat.
Malachum93 cooooolll
Lol
No but he's working out a lot
Malachum93 wy
Malachum93 lol
i cant tell how much i am thankful to you for this amazing work
I come back to this video all the time! So interesting and entertaining!
Wow, wild mice are a lot smarter than lab mice. My mom is a research professor at the University of Maryland school of medicine in the department of anaesthesiology and the mice used for behaviour study are really dumb. These mice seem to have adapted to their surroundings much faster than trained or lab mice. I guess evolutionary development in biology is making an effective change in mice, making them smarter or used to the catch eat and escape tactic of that specific trap and surrounding.
Or the trap is just faulty...
there are special lab mice bred to be genitically identical. Good for repeatability, but, could be that these mice are not as smart as the ones that have to survive challenging circumstances
so your mum experiments on animals .....
the boss Yea, pretty much, that's kinda her job, write thousands of pages of weird crap I don't understand and experiment on animals
Anna Chen You must be proud that your Mom has the job that I once dreamed of, but I ended up being a CZcamsr
Anna Chen x to get to grips the UK and Ireland 5 the mm 😠😠 😠 😠
im gonna call him "Peanut"
Peterson Tampus is that 707 from Mystic Messanger?
Peterson Tampus hey seven ^^

Adrian Aryo Frizzzy or girl :p
Peterson Tampus CANNIBALISM!! HE'S EATING HIMSELF BUT BUTTERYFIED
I love you for being so nice to the animal! Instead of keeping it trapped you just lure it to your experiment and it can just go away again! Great work! 😄
So cool! I love it! Its interesting to watch the mouse reach the peanut butter. He even uses his tail! Please make more of these! They are great! And the music is so fitting and hilarious! Thank you!
I love how the rat seems so happy to play in your trap, you should've made it more complicated
Stupid Salad Where's the rat though
Stupid Salad uhh i think you mean mice
@Golden, I think you mean mouse...
Stupid Salad lol one time I was fishing and there was the most tiniest, cutest little mouse in the boat. My cousin said,"Look,a rat!"lol she was 13 at the time, she'd known the difference.
The Official dude he wasn't trying to be mean so stop trying to offend people for no reason you jerk
You should have change the maze while it was stashing the seeds somewhere else so then it would come back and the mouse would be very confused
i'll learn pretty quick what he needs is a bigger maze i wonder how big of a maze can you make before the mouse ends up being lost inside...
takumi168
They will always find their way out though
Mouse is smarter than you think. Its a very quick learning creature, probably a better learner than dog i say.
No

DUDE!! your experiments are amazing
I swear i'm always nervous that you're going to make an actual inhumane mouse trap but the ones i've seen from you this far are fun and harmless.
On another note. You seem to be unintentionally creating super intelligent mice if one actually goes as far as to use the camera spot to get a birds eye point of view.
We might finally in the near future have Splinter! :D
That mouse is smart...
Weasle Cake it defenitly is
Thank you
Weasle Cake Nah, it just learned the layout after a good 5 hours.
Weasle Cake it is
No its not. Remembering and repeating is the lowest form of intelligence. And the mouse fell for the trap over and over again. It is not intelligent.
its really fascinating to see how the mouse's path evolves as he becomes more familiar with the maze. great job!
I throw my phone away when there's bug on screen.
Don't watch muh videos and don't scrubskribe
I close my eyes, i have actual phobia of bugs haha ;-;
Yazeed Abdulrahman A (Saudi) Alharbi I'm not gonna click it
Don't watch muh videos and don't scrubskribe you do?!And take it out right?!
You must have gotten probably 20phones a day then🙃
T I have to work at home and I’m not sure what I want you can I go get some stuff to go get it now I can bring you home if I can I go to buy one for me
Was amazed at how the mouse figured out the bucket that was amazing ! Very smart mousy!
put a flipping dor in the exit of the maze, so when the mouse are inside he can leave, but never come back through the exit. Happy new year.
The sound effects make this video.
You put so much effort into ur video, love u man
Very cool and great editing as well:) same goes for the other maze video of yours, I subbed:)
Pocono Joe .
you should make a litle house for him, he's so cute
LordWalras No.Burn it with fire.
ImTOREO -Armored Aces , WoT Blitz and more! i swear if you burn it with fire a bunch of mice will come and give birth in your bed.
hurt animal abusers paws Dude, I swear to god, you made me think there was a hair on my screen 😂😂😂
Tony 2015 if you try to burn me i will claw your eyes out and demand all my animal friends to do the same -_-
hurt animal abusers paws then we will burn everything you have..set them to ashes.
From marbles to mice running down a maze...
Force them to turn a hamster wheel and generate electricity, and make them useful.
sasja de vries like a hamsterwheel powered door to get out? 🤔
That's a cool idea actually.
However I was thinking about running that Raspberry pi of 10 mice on hamsterwheels
sasja de vries I power my house with 250 mice on electric generating hamster wheels, very nice!
Lol chevy
It's bio energy, right?
Good for the ecology, right?
sasja de vries the hamster need to be fed (or stole your food) to stay alive, it is bio energy, but it's not effective and efficient enough
Got a RAT advertisement before coming here...
@Yazeed Abdulrahman A (Saudi) Alharbi what?
I enjoy watching the mousetrap maze it makes me very happy!
I know mice are categorised as vermin by many people for understandable reasons, but this is undeniably cute :)
Also, very interesting to see the learning process of the little critter, it really shows what and how it must be thinking. From short term panic and problem solving to long term: spending time and effort to use the opportunity to build up a strategic reserve in a safe spot. Well done industrious little mouse! Oh, and you too Matthias :)
I suppose you're slowly growing to like the mice now. You should give it a name and adopt it.
Love your wood work
Who knew these vids were really entertaining
It's interesting that when presented with immediate food (peanut butter) and storable food (seeds), the order of priority was:
1. Store easy seeds
2. Store hard to get seeds
3. Eat immediate food
Shows good instincts for storing food for later.
This mouse learns faster than I do 😅
PikaGirl679 me too xD
Y r u proud of that?
You would learn fasts as well if you could mark every corner of a maze with your piss and then actually differentiate between all the markings like they were drawn with a glow in the dark pen. This is very normal task for rodents even in the wild, it requires very little in brain function.
Manintoga il do that everyday when i explore new aread
PikaGirl679
Cant wait to see more of your videos a big maze would be amazing
when other people have a mice problem they are devastated, but when you have a mice problem you are thrilled.
Smart mouse. He stripped and stored the sunflower seeds first, and THEN ate the peanut butter.
Got BROWNIES crawlin up in yo house!😂🐛🐝🐜🐞
enjoying this immensely
You're an amazing scientist
If you want to see some really puzzled mice, make a labyrinth that reconfigures. As in: one time the proper turn is left, another it is right.
Haha you really do want to piss off the animal rights activists, huh?
BigWonka He's feeding the mouse...
Not really. They "trigger" themselves on just about anything, but the world is not a "safe space"
Matthias Wandel Took the words right out of my mouth. I love these non-woodworkimg videos. They compliment nicely.
I think this mouse had the time of his life and a full stomach. He was more lucky than zebras in Afrika who get slaughtered by lions without human intervention.
BigWonka who the hell is going to get pissed off by a video of mice being fed? I don't see anybody angry in the comments.
Honestly, I think he's just having fun with that neat playground you made him.
Super fast learning curve on this mouse.
Really interesting and without torture! Good idea
Sunil Enurb its a mouse i dont care about tourture kill them
Ernest Hughes Yes cause out of the whole world humans are the best
Ernest Hughes but what if you were the mouse
orang wild I would rethink about life and how much of a asshole I was to humans.
He's feeding it free food.
The maze runner 4
hi
there is a 3?
Still better than the first 2
GnR 788 LoL
Sabari Nadh lol
The rat must be very happy for all that food
Josyanna Este that’s not a rat a rat is what u see on the streets
It's a mouse, a rat is much larger.
BROOKE MINAJ rats live in houses...
It’s a mouse are you stupid look at the VIDEO
*mouse
Why am I so satisfied with mouse videos?
Now we get to blame you for the new breed of super intelligent mice. :|
you need a flap door over the exit ,so the mouse neede to go through the trap to get back in
Nayam Rafique great idea
I must say you are very good at baiting. One might be so bold as to call you a master baiter.
Great example of an animal learning! In the end the mouse could traverse the maze without taking any wrong turns.
What a curious mouse!🐀

was waiting for that ermine to swoop in and have a wild kingdom moment.
This was filmed before the ermine (mostly filmed in November). Took me a long time to edit it.
Yeah, I thought he'd be at the exit saying "Come to papa...."
You should make a more difficult maze for the mouse. It's incredible how he remembers the maze so well that he never made a mistake going in and out of it after he figure out it the first few times
These videos have a lot of potential
Matthias, when did you become a behavioral psychologist of mice?
That's so cool how he learned to navigate the maze. I'd love to see you do this experiment again with an even larger maze and more experimental objects in the maze :)
that was really nice of you to feed that mouse
Lmao idk why I'm watching these videos but i can't stop
Make a bigger maze
RedditzReck wipe out for mouse
That mouse must be so fat now 😂
CatPulp 23 it takes 2 poops every 3 mins
Lol
is thicc now
Why is this so entertaining?
this is both torture and amazingness
That's a cute and industrious mouse. Too bad about what that trap is usually used for. I get mice in my workshop too, and I like it when they start sneaking out when I'm working after dark. It's nice to have the company, and they don't do any harm beyond leaving their little poops here and there.
I guess you have no insulation in the walls, no fabric anywhere? Cause they do destroy stuff.
+ Matthias Wandel: Yeah, you're right: no insulation in the walls. And come to think of it, I did have to make a mouse-proof paper towel dispenser, but that was a fun project. :-)
KarlBunker They do carry diseases though. A few years ago, 3 people died of hantavirus infection from mouse infested cabins at Yosemite
I used to put peanuts out for mine, then I found a whole bunch of them stored in the headstock of my woodlathe. No real problem having wildlife in the workshop and if you feed them maybe they wont feel the need to eat your books. :>)
That sounds quite bad! Isn't the chance higher to die in a traffic accident due to a drunk drinker than catching that disease? Or just walking outside and getting hit by a icicle in the head and die from it(seems to happen a few times a year). My point is everything more or less is out to get you and you're always playing with odds just stepping into the car every morning to get to work.
I had mice in my shop, I didn't find it entertaining. I made it my personal mission to feed them their last meal.
that's what I do in my shop too. This was in a shed
Is it still on your property, though?
I love this guys videos
I love it :)
I like your all works. Congratulations
This mouse is very grateful to you. With the training you have provided, it doubled it's IQ in 1 night.
It's...learning
Cookie Dookie Yup! When he said it was getting faster at the maze that he said to mouse get faster at becase it learn tha maze
Cookie Dookie yeah, hopefully the mouse can succeed!
Cookie Dookie
Yes.
Mouses learning very good.
Mäuse sind sehr lernfähig.
I don't think any of you understood the joke
Ryder
What joke? 😅😂
OMGG! Those bugs creeped the heck of me out! XD
That mouse learned that maze quickly, especially when he put seeds in it.
Figure out a way to get the mice to eat the bugs. It's time to get 'em into the debugging business.
Double Dare Fan you got me on this one
Matthias is going to find that mouse in a food coma somewhere. Hahaha.
After watching a few of your videos, I've noticed that the mouse is very determined to get every last piece of bait. I suppose with nothing but time to do so gathering the easy to get to stuff is more worthwhile than scavenging for more difficult food. However it is still interesting that it doesn't miss anything. It becomes aware of every last thing and gets all of it.
Hi,
Your woodworking skills are superb 😀
Rotate the trap to see how the mouse handles the new orientation.
Forever alone mouse.
Like me ., Hahaha.
funny 2007 meme
Birdy you are a bird?..
Birdy birdy
Birdy ,
I love that iron net in that maze
Well he certainly figured out the maze well enough. Neat video, thanks.
Presumably, your mousetrap maze tends to select for the most intelligent mice to be returned to the environment, so to replicate their genes.
Perhaps, come the day that mice threaten us with nuclear weapons that they themselves have developed, you will understand your folly.
;)
I think when the mice attack he would already be dead, We would probably all be dead by then. I'd be happy then. I don't want to live trough the attack of the mice
