I was hired after a 10 minute interview. Not only did they hire me on the spot but they processed my paperwork in 15 minutes. I went for the drug test 20 minutes later and started working the very next day. I was suspicious as HELL, but figured I'd work for a few weeks, get a couple of paychecks, then quit. I serendipitously met a friend in the lobby of one of these places who was also on unemployment. They used a fake name in the ad. My friend just quietly said, "We do NOT want to, we CANNOT work here." We physically fought with each other, shoulder checked each other by walking through doorways at the same time, shoved each other into walls, called each other names, threatened to murder each other, swore, openly interferred with and cheated on each other's typing tests including physically pulling each other scross the room and removing chairs. We also tried to fail the typing tests. I used random mixed case and inserted numbers for vowels like passwords and passed it! They just typed only vowels and spaces so slowly (because they chanted something like their high school pledge song inbetween fingerstrikes) that they only entered 1-3 taps before the end and they actually failed.
They still offered to hire both of us - on the spot and gave us each private 2nd interviews. Without asking permission, and while doing a decent Pinky Pie impression, I unwrapped the decorative presents their decorative X-mas tree because I *thought* they were all gifts for me. I was extremely disappointed they were empty and then rewrapped random office items inside the empty boxes (again without asking and just grabbing things, including tape, off desks) while making zero eye contact and mumbling, through my second interview. My friend violently shook the interview table durring his entire private interview. They should really have called the police on us! I demanded a six figure salary but they couldn't meet it. It was for a call center.
I just told unemployment they couldn't meet my base salary requirements. I think my friend told them they had a bunch of contradictory, serious medical issues (while shaking a conference table) and demanded a year of PTO upfront first before starting training and told unemployment they were unable to make accommodations for them.
The interviewer left the room and checked with supervisor to determine they couldn't meet each of our bizarre employment demands.
My friend was someone I knew from large get-togethers - like 40 to 60 or more people. I never had their phone number. Turned out we both played "Chaotic Good" characters in D&D but never in the same campaigns. We just both naturally just turned up the chaos with each other.
I have no idea how I kept a straight face durring that entire thing but we would have definately had the cops called on us if we acted that way at Wal-mart or the ER or just on a public sidewalk even as nicely dressed customers. It worries me to this day that they offerred both of us jobs.

All minimum wage (even though it’s extremely expensive “high end” bakery and the owners live in a giant fancy house) and one employee was told she was NOT allowed to take off to attend a family funeral, they make everyone work on family holidays like thanksgiving and Christmas 7 days a week, my bf who only applied and was hired to be a dishwasher - they made him do their plumbing (instead of hiring an actual plumber) and helping them create the complicated bakery items (while obviously not trained or compensated for it). I had an interview and halfway through she stopped asking questions and said "you know what, your resume is great. You're more than qualified and you seem like you have a good work ethic. I'm gonna go ahead and hire you." And I thoroughly enjoyed working there. My 2nd job was I had applied to be a nanny. I met with the mom of one of the families at Starbucks and we had a casual interview. She told me she'd call me by the end of the week because she had 2 more interviews lined up later in the week. She called me about 3 hours later saying she really liked me and wanted to hire me. I ended up working for her for over 2 years. She and her family became like a second family to me and even now that I'm married and have kids of my own, they are still such a special people to me. But I definitely followed my gut when I made the decisions to take those jobs. If you get a bad feeling, listen to your intuition.

I applied to a job online, was called an hour later and asked to come in for a 3PM interview that same day. My job interview was hellish. Even though I was super qualified for it, I was basically stripped of all confidence and dignity by the end of it, each question was basically posed as a “trap” of “this will prove to yourself you don’t have what it takes for this job.” I was interviewed by two managers back to back and the second manager was the scariest and most intense person I’ve ever met. Not to mention the way she handled telling me my hourly rate was lowkey boarder line illegal. So, after all this, and sitting through an interview that was set up to convince me why I didn’t want the job nor could I handle it (and a job interview I wanted to run out of by the halfway mark), THEY OFFERED THE JOB ON THE SPOT AS I SAT THERE. I had been so excited for the job before I walked into the building. It shocked me how much I immediately knew I didn’t want it. If I’m gonna feel this unwelcome during a job interview, I have no interest in being part of your staff.
Edit five months later: forgot to describe how she told me my hourly, she wrote it on the corner of her clipboard’s paper, ripped it off, folded it, handed it to me, and TOLD ME TO DESTROY IT. This was David’s Bridal in Burbank

I finally cried out to Jesus, and he heard my cry. When the bible says God is near to the brokenhearted it is very true. I cried out to God in tears, and He eventually turned my sorrow to joy. I thank God for the gift of salvation that He gave me. Now I have a wife and 3 kids that God has blessed me with. Please stick in there and give God a chance to transform your life. Cry out to God no matter how broken you are.

I had resigned from the job I had for 10 years for this position... day 2 I was like I have made a terrible mistake, no-one knows what we are meant to be doing, theyre acting busy while doing absolutley nothing and hating their jobs, acting hostile and saying I wasn't working hard enough while simultaneously not doing anything!!.. for perspective I showed someone how to stack a shelf and the feedback was " oh! You do know what you're doing you're not just a pretty face..." i rang my old boss I told them what was going on and they offered me a new position. I went back no questions asked. It may have been chaotic at my old job but fuck I knew what was needed to be done and they have been nothing but supportive no matter how chaotic it is. Sometimes the grass is not greener.

I got a retail job after an interview like that. Plenty of downtime, no insane customers, and the delivery vans were in good repair. The only downsides were a relatively long commute, a few minor material safety concerns, and the low pay. (McDonald's area hourly)

I was straight out of college when I went on a job interview. I knew the boss was desperate, with her only other employee going on maternity leave just 2 days later. During the interview she actually started giving me work to do. I ended up staying there for 2 hours. I didn't know this was a big red flag, since I'd never had a job before. It ended up being the worst 3 years of my life. The boss was belittling, demeaning, and just an overall bully. What made it worse was that I was the only employee, so she focused on me 9 to 5. And because I was shy and had no self esteem, I suffered in silence for the 3 years, before finally she had to shut the business down due to low sales. Unfortunately the damage was already done, physically and mentally. I was scared to get another job, knowing the trauma and abuse could happen again. I developed permanent heart and digestion problems. I ended up on disability, which honestly was a big relief, knowing I'd never have to work again. That's right, I'm actually happy I have medical problems, just so I never have to work again. That's how bad this job was. If I could go back and tell myself not to take that job, I would have. But I was desperate too, getting rejected from so many places, feeling worthless, so I jumped at the chance to be normal and tell people I finally got a job. Hopefully my story can be a warning to others. It may end up being a great job, but just be careful. Don't be dumb like me and get out if you have to. Your wellbeing is worth more than becoming someone's punching bag.

In my country minors can only take summer jobs, but I couldn't do that, so I got my first job at 21 because of uni and then corona. It is a small family owned bakery(they had a small stand on the market before it) that opened a week after. The last thing my boss asked on the phone was if I really wanted to work. They were on a time crunch and the last girl they employed on the stand was an awful employee
