- In this video we go over the setup for a RAW 580 with a iKon FBL unit.the setup is for straight forward and simple. iKon gives you endless options for setup and tuning. Combined with a Spektrum Radio and SRXL2 you can do Foward programming right from your radio! As well as full telemetry with a Hobbywing ESC.

thats such great help...i was following it and getting on great until i left the usb cable in the brain and ripped the socket off its pcb board.....oh dear....i only have myself to blame but it is so tempting to try my best and find someone else to blame
I’m sorry that happened! You can get the remote USB and plug it in the side so you don’t have to worry about trying to fix the USB port.
Thank you very much for this video. Very timely and a big help as I am about to finish my raw580. I have the same motor, esc and servo. Just have a question on the throttle curve on the radio and the governor setup. Both setups would influence the head speed, right? Which setting will be used by ikon2?
You’re welcome! I’m glad the video is helpful. OK, so both throttle curves and governor affect the head speed governor is looking for a predetermined value/percentage. Governor quits for whatever reason do you have your flat line throttle curves to fall back on.

How do your ikon vibration logs look. I've had a spike on the tail vibes since the beginning. Took the tail apart but all mechanical setup is fine. It's only above a HS of 2200 so I'm guessing resonance. Don't notice it in flight so I have op chasing it.
Thank you! I have not had the need to look at the vibration analyst on the tail. But how is your tail belt tension? It sounds like the retention might be a little loose and the belt is causing a frequency vibration over 2000 RPM.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 it's on the tighter side rather than loose. If it wasn't for the Brain 2 and the logging I would have never known. She flies rock solid.
As long as there is no issues from the vibration on the actual machine I wouldn’t worry about it. The only time I ever start chasing down a log is if I’m having a problem. But since you are not having any actual issues I would just leave it alone. The vibration analyst is super sensitive and just a small frequency vibration will cause it to go up.

Thanks for the video. In the Brain 2 setup under Governor it clearly stats to set your ESC to Ext Gov or Fixed Wing mode. I saw in another video you did on the Hobbywing governor, that you set your governor to Heli ElfGov and to Auto Calc? Can you share more on why you use these settings and also what's the pros and cons to this? Thanks again for having a very informative channel.
If you have any time can you do a video showing how to do this with the DX series radios?
Unfortunately I don’t have a DX series any more but I do have a NX series radio. Everything is the same for setup other then screens and menu lay out as long as it’s a 8ch and up. I know the 6 and 7ch don’t have a few features.

@@leonautic1979 ikon is very simple. They are $170 not $300. You can use a wide variety of different receivers with them. You can definitely set one up. You can download the MSH Brain software and use demo mode and get an idea on how it looks. It’s step by step.
those servo horns they have the hole larger.
the screw that threads in the uniball has a smaller diameter.
this way the screw passes through the servo arm.

I put the threadlocker in the uniball, but in the servo arm no because it has a larger diameter than the screw.

Sorry to bother you man, but quick question. When the software went into that mode where you had to change the value to -9 to allow you to continue with the process, I accomplished the same thing by changing the value of the travel on the throttle within servo setup. I wasn't able to find the throttle hold within the throttle curve menu on my DX9. Also, before I fly the heli, do I need to put the travel for the throttle back to 100 or leave it at 116 where it's currently at? 116 is only for the wizard, but not flying? You are not bothering me! Ask any questions you have! Yes, I go to -9 in throttle hold to get into “check” mode. You have to set throttle hold in the main screen setup on the radio. You need to set throttle hold for proper setup. That allows you have still have proper pitch and tail gain while in hold. You will see a screen that says flight mode, go in there and it will say hold and you click it and set your switch. I got it! Thank you very much!
So I have a question. I am setting up the Goblin 380 with the Ikon2 . And Futaba 16IZ . How do I setup the flight mods in the ikon . Do I assign a switch with Aux . How do I tell the ikon what switch . Thank you I did watch all your 380 builds you have the best videos on you tube . 🇺🇸
Thank you! Yes, you will assign auxiliary two and three for selectable flight modes and rescue if you want it. Got a 380 video coming out this week on the maiden with 8s! It was moving!

I have a question about the transmitter input setup page.
I have everything registering and acting as expected. Aileron, Elevator and tail stick are all working and adjusted to be at 100% at full throw.
The pitch stick, rescue, banks and hold all register and act normal but the throttle stick won’t register or more.
Anything you recommend checking? Have you come across this before? Iv rewatched lots of your setup videos and can’t see anything Iv missed. Iv also set up 4 other helicopters and never had this issue it’s really odd.

@@westhobbiesrc8051 unfortunately throttle hold/throttle cut isn’t on. I was hoping it was something simple like that.
Earlier I was having an issue where it was only getting heading lock in bank 3 and in the flying style menu setup 3 was stuck illuminated. So I reset the FBL and started over and it resolved the issue but now I’m having this odd issue.

G'day mate, really hoping you can help me. I can't seem to achieve 760/ 300 in the servo setup, when I changed the setting to 760/300 my servos went weird off to one side. So I set them back to what they were. Also after I finished the setup I tested the gyro operation all good but when I moved the sticks to check forward back and left right cyclic the move quick to the input but are slow to return to the centre, my blade 180 does the same and it's a pig to fly. My Heli and parts are SAB Goblin 380, Tareq Xenova motor, 100a Hobbywing, MKS HV93 servos and MKS HV9780 tail servo and IKON receiver not IKON2 but he first one and a spectrum satellite. I have not yet flown it as I'm still learning on my OMP EVO M1 and flight sim, and am hoping to get the 380 flying like my M1. Cheers Steve.
Hello! So, you got two things fighting you. One iKon 1 does not support 760 for cyclic. Number two, the MKS HV93 does not support 760. They are 1520. So you will have to run them at 1520 for cyclic. That’s normal to slow return to center. That does not mean it will be slow to respond. You can set your style or rotation rates to your liking.
So on my NX8 the check mode does not work im at negative 9 at throttle but when push up on the throttle the check mode error screen comes back on.
Is Throttle hold selected in the Radio under Flight mode setup?
Quick question man. When you use the auto level and rescue function, will it always flip over to upright and then give it positive collective? Or if you are inverted, will it self level to the the inverted position and then give it negative collective?

Hello! So it will always upright the heli and then add positive pitch and climb out. It work’s actually very well! I set it up on EVERY heli and never really need it but it’s always there.

I use spirit fbl and I always had this issue at 20:19 sec in ur vid discussing pitch differentials. When setting up my servo 90* I had to use a fair bit of sub trim in the fbl to get 90* that in turn messed up my pitch travels. Spirit says never to touch ur radio travels which leaves me with this 1-2* differential. Luckily I use torques servos and bought the program box to electrically re centre the servo. I wonder why spirit would not allow their users to make up the difference in the radios pitch travels?
Also, all the specs for the Raw 580 are the same as the Kraken 580? The gear tooth portion of the video?

Yes, it should be in head locking mode on the tail.
On the top Of the Throttle Out And Telemetry and Governor Setup page There is an OUT MIn 1100 and Out MAX1940 Ajustment Plus and MInus buttons for your Transmitter.How do you adjust these?
I setup with an AR6610T and plugged the remote sat into the SRXL port on the receiver itself versus doing the pin swap/conversion. Is there any benefit or drawback from doing it like this? I noticed that the Ikon software does not recognize the satellite even though its bound to the model.
So the way you have it done will work but you will not get telemetry that way. Your are still SBUS the AR6610T and it will still work a RX but the AR6610T is not needed, you only need the SRXL2 and then you will get telemetry if running a Hobbywing.
Hi Jeff, I hope you're doing well. I'm currently facing an issue with an Ikon 2 that I'm trying to set up with a friend. He followed your video, specifically the one on the Raw 580 assembly guide, to purchase all the electronics. Our setup is identical to the one in the video, except we're using a Futaba T14SG Radio.
The problem we're encountering is with the governor mode. When we're setting it up, the motor takes an unusually long time to start, approximately 15 seconds. After that, the motor revs up to 2600 RPMs and then drops down to 1900 RPMs, where it remains. It's worth noting that we are currently testing without blades. Any insights or guidance on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! Do you mean on wiring the battery in series? I go over it in the last part of the crack in 700 bill video. You are going to wire and series so you equal 12S.

Is the gyro setup in the radio always going to be control of the tail gyro? Or do other fbl systems have it control something else
It will always control the tail gyro. Some to just have it done in the FBL unit and out the radio.

But you move limit servo for -13 you move limit 100 and -100 in the first pannel.
In rescue this servo will have more excursion.
Even if you achieved negative and +100 in the first panel you will still have to go into a negative or positive value in the sub travel menu in the transmitter to get it equal throw of the pitch range.
ok, great job, when you're setting up the pitch do you put your radio transmitter in idle up mode or it stayed in normal mode.
Thank you! So always in hold mode. As that’s the “check” mode in the software. It also depends on your pitch curves. So for example I run a lot less pitch in normal mode (so there is not a lot of negative pushing the heli down on spool up) but a Pitch curve in hold and Idle one and two.

When u setting up the blade o pitch u put throttle stick the middle do u have to put throttle idle mode or no
No because your mid stock should always be 50 in your throttle curve. So as long as you’re mid stick is 50 on all your curves then it won’t matter what mode you are in.

No, you do not need to set the pitch to 100% on the transmitter page.
How did you connect the srxl 4 wire out to the ikon 3 wire system. And is it connected to channel3? Or to the sat ports or to the system i/o port
You remove the grey wire from the SRXL2 as it is not used or needed. The crimp a servo plug to the end and plug into CH3 of the iKon.

Yes there is, there is forward programming with any NX/IX radio when using a SRXL2.
What is a good fbl unit for those whom don't have a PC/computer?
Its 39% gain on tail on goblin 500 why to much?☺️
Why do much? 39% is not a lot in normal mode or low head speed.

you're wrong to move limits servant to have -13.
put the servo limits back as before and after to have -13 go in advanced mode and move servo negative travel.
in the screen where the frequencies are etc.
I spoke to the creators of the flybarless and YOU MUST NOT limit servo why in diagnostic in this mode you don't have -100 in the software but if you follow my method there are no problems.
just move one servo travel there is positive and negative run or move negative travel or move positive travel.
in your case negative run servo

I disagree, been doing it this way for HUNDREDS of helis. In a perfect setup world you can get it equal but unfortunately that’s not always the case with every heli so you must adjust by your servo travel.

But if you use function automatic during the negative run of the pitch exceed the limit of 100%
