    I didn’t know that people actually did this. Because it is cost effective, and I was recycling a canvas, I used light weight caulking. It has been 7 years. Still looks great.

      With the mastic can we Roll the Canvas for the shipping , it doesn't crack ?

    Our products in New Zealand are less flexible. More likely to crack and not recommended for a timber floor because of movement. For several years I've been using flexible Selleys "No-More-Gaps" from a tube. It works too.

      Do you know if this material (tile mastic) can be mixed with acrylic color before it’s applied on the canvas and if it’ll have archival quality? If so, what would be the next step after it dries to conserve the quality?

      @@cristinaenriquezart I've never used that, but before u do anything. You have to Gesso/prime your canvas.. As for adding the Color, you can..

      @@wilmaballes8038 I use tile adhesive, which dries rock solid. I buy it from my local hardware store. Thicker pieces will have cosmetic cracks while drying, but the finished piece itself will not have the brittle quality that plaster has, so no structural cracking.

      Late reply but I’ve dabbled with tile adhesive and it is very, very strong. So would be hard to remove, And how long it lasts I am not sure.

      @@MalinLinneaCronholm I found out, apply gesso over top. Guarantees surface for acrylic and oils, and especially protects oils from random chemicals that are in the texture medium.

    Thank you for sharing this with the world! Your video inspired me to get creative with texture! I have a question. I have a 40x60 canvas and aim very disappointed with how it came out. Can you use the mastic over the existing paint?

      I'm pretty sure you can. It obviously needs to be completely dry. With the mastic being so thick, I don't think it would be a problem. I also have one that I completely screwed up and I'm probably going to go over it with some heavy medium. I'm still working on smaller canvases so I haven't bought the mastic yet. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

      Rule of thumb, regardless if your canvas says primed, always gesso it. You never know if a pin whole is in the wrapping which will leave gunk, and as well if the person packaging it touches it, then you have a greasy film.

      No, gesso is too liquid. Gesso is a primer. You'd need something with a lot thicker consistency.

      I have used gesso like modeling paste and it worked well for me! It dries softer than modeling paste. I painted acrylic over it which made it dry firmer. I experimented when I ran out of modeling paste.

      You can find the acrylic mastic and the trowel at the hardware store in the tile area. The trowel is used to apply the thinset or mastic on a surface at a consistent height level.

      I've used dry wall mud before and it doesn't crack unless you force it. I assume this would be similar.
