- Y'all told me Saw The Final Chapter/3D had an insane twist reveal but you didn't tell me IT WAS A SECRET APPRENTENCE OF JIGSAW!! While this movie was severely lacking John Kramer screen time, I had a blast watching Hoffman go full on slasher mode in this movie... until Jill was put in the reverse bear trap. Bobby's game was also great to watch but they did his wife Joyce dirty! Doctor Gordon returning was great to see but I did not see him being team Jigsaw coming at all!
Now that we are done with Saw 1-7 marathon, it's time to finally watch SAW X! I Will check out Jigsaw and Spiral at some point after Halloween but most of you explained it is needed and that those movies are not well received. So since the 1-7 main story is done, it's time to see John back in action!

Gordon being John's apprentice probably seems more unexpected when you've watched the movies as quickly as you. But for people watching these movies come out year by year, it was a huge fan theory. A lot of people pointed out that the hooded figure putting the key in Michael's eye at the beginning of Saw II was limping, which suggested it was probably Gordon.
@TomMerson And what about me? Who only watched Saw 1 in 2006 and then Saw 2 in 2009. Then jumped to Saw 7 in 2011 and actually missed the first 30mins with the Gordon scenes. I was "WTF?????" when he took the mask off, didn't even recognize him at first because it had been so long. That ending alone was what made want to watch every movie and made me a Saw fan to this day.

@@a7000zo It's funny, i took so long to watch the movies because i was actually 8 and Saw 1 was the first movie to terrify me lol Couldn't even sleep for some time. Back then the Saw hype was real and i tried avoiding trailers, posters at the movie theater etc because i was really scared of it, i remember watching the beginning of Saw 3 on cable probably in 2007 and recognized the bathroom, never turned the tv off faster lol.
3 years later Saw 2 was on cable late at night and i decided to give it a second chance since i was older and this time i was like "Huh, that was interesting".
Never in a million years i thought i would be a huge fan 17 years later.
That's exactly how I figured he was in on it lol. I did indeed notice the limp! Just didn't know which Saw he would reappear in
Remember Strahm had a pen in his pocket at the start of SAW 5 but all his other items were removed? Some theorized Dr. Gordon put the pen in his pocket to give him a chance to survive the drowning trap Hoffman put him in.
Apparently the two pig masks with Gordon were Brad and Ryan from the opening trap

I was shocked by your reaction to the ending because you were rooting for Gordon and I thought you liked Hoffman. Maybe because Gordon was the one true apprentice who followed john’s orders, unlike Amanda and Hoffman
If you're gonna be Team Jigsaw, you gotta give it to Dr. G. Goat for never making unwinnable traps or interfering with John's games.
Hoffman murdered Jill and basically had Amanda and John killed as well. It wasn’t until after Saw 6 that I realized that so while I loved him throughout this movie still, Jill didn’t deserve the reverse bear trap for carrying out John’s final wish.
I still think Hoffman is a beast but he was the villain in this movie (which I still enjoyed)

Rumors are saw 11 is between 2-3 but saw 12 is a direct sequel to 3D showing us Hoffman fate. Maybe Gordon vs Hoffman saw wars.

Bobby makes Jeff from Saw III look like a mastermind by comparison. Dude's brain is smoother than a billiard ball. His entire character can be summed up by his reaction to Joyce's death. He just sorta stands there, calls her name, puts his arms up, and makes a sound you'd expect from someone who just had a lobotomy. Buddy straight up went "JOYYYCE!! Hhnngghh ahhh huuuhhhh!!"
John Kramer knew Hoffman would have what it took, to escape the reverse bear trap in the 6th movie. His REAL test was not making it Personal with Jill. Had he just left Jill Alone, he would have passed John's test and gone on to become the new Jigsaw Successor. Still you gotta give the man props for immediately diving for the Saw. He was fully committed to cutting his foot off to escape.

Dr Gordon was the best thing about this movie. The other 2 pig masks were supposed to be the brothers from the public trap at the beginning of the movie. It’s been an incredible journey watching these movies with you!
When I saw this one in the theaters as a kid on Halloween, I was truly satisfied and grateful of how the franchise ended at the time, especially when Gordon revealed himself to have survived! Definitely give Jigsaw and Spiral a watch after Saw X.

Congrats on getting through the timeline. In John's mind Jigsaw is not a person but an ideology, a pyramid system, John was the founder but always saw himself as a cog in the machine that needed to continually be replaced.. it truly makes John's final words from the morgue all that more scary.. "The games have only just begun!" because even if you're one of his students you don't know how many others are around you.. Amanda and Hoffman were never true students, they were murderers and what did John always say how he felt about murderers

I remember bf this movie there were SOOO MANY people with the theory of Gordon helping Jigsaw. People were analyzing the shit out of past movies. The surgery footage etc. people talking about the person limping etc.

I can confirm the movie looks a lot better in 3D. I never had an issue with the color timing until I saw some clips on CZcams and realized Lionsgate messed up the home release badly. Fortunately, I still own a 3D set up at home, so that's the only version of the film I ever watch when binging these movies.
As for the film itself, I always enjoyed it and thought the hate it gets from some fans is unwarranted. Granted, Joyce's death was off putting, Chad Donella's performance was... something, and I would've liked a little bit more insight into Dr. Gordon's motivations, but I think it's one of the better paced, more gruesome and shamelessly fun installments in the franchise. Hoffman's revenge plot, the irony behind Bobby's trial, and the ending are strong enough positives to outweigh the issues I have with it.
I know you just uploaded this and i haven't seen it yet but I'm already so excited for your reaction to Saw X . You're gonna love it so much .
Also how awesome is that outfit for John in the fashback , it's infamous in the fandom 😂
Good things about this:
-Brad and Ryan's trap had a satisfying conclusion
-The racists' trap (featuring the dearly departed lead singer of Linkin Park, Chester Bennington, as Evan; RIP) was elaborate AND spectacularly gory, a real stand-out
-21:25 Jigsaw serving his best Slim Shady.
-We finally get to see the reverse-bear trap actually kill.
-Cary Elwes as Dr. Gordon, chewing the scenery.
(Basically only the beginning and end are good rofl)
Bad things about this:
-Bobby Dagen is bar none the most annoying Saw character of all time. I just didn't connect with him at all unlike other people who have went through the traps. Still, there's no way John could've hated him more than William Easton to save him for last; compare Bobby to how complex William's character was written and I would have rather they switched movies they were in so the original 7 movies ended on a high note.
-The movie really suffers because the one big trap that is followed through the entire movie (Bobby's) isn't as interesting as the two unconnected ones I mentioned above. The watered-down A-plot means the story has to give way to the B-plot of trying to catch Jigsaw/Hoffman, leading to a somewhat impaired Saw experience.
-Matt Gibson just wasn't a good enough opponent for Hoffman, nothing at all compared to Strahm or even Rigg.
-Hoffman entering into his garden-variety slasher era really shows that he doesn't have the patience or meticulousness to be Jigsaw's true heir.
-Kevin Greutert suddenly forgot how to direct Betsy Russell as Jill in some scenes...lmao, but also it's pretty disappointing considering her awesome moment in Saw VI (another reason why Saw VI > this)
-The 3D shtick really didn't age well.

Is there a reason is because Kevin Greutert doesn’t want to directed Saw 3D but he was forced to do it, and he was originally to be the director of Paranormal Activity 2
@@andrew10gamesNot quite. Greutert was set to direct what would have been Saw VIII while David Hackl would have directed Saw VII. Executive meddling forced them into ending the series a film earlier than planned. Much of Saw 3D's problems come from trying to merge the two films into one.

In case no one else has mentioned it, Gibson was played by the guy who played Tod in the first Final Destination.
I was so excited to see my Saw V guy survived. Wish he had a speaking part so we could see how his life was affected.
I loved Jill, so I was sad when she died. And we had to watch her die twice because of the dream sequence.
Now that you’ve made it to this movie, I can finally talk about why I think Adam has to still be alive. I know people are saying that the guys from the beginning of this movie are who is supposed to be in the other two pig masks, but I feel like they could always change that later and make one Adam. Because Dr. Gordon promised he’d come back for him. Adam saved his life by getting Zepp with the toilet lid thing, so Gordon kinda owed him. Also, Adam’s test was to survive until 6, which he did. Gordon was supposed to kill him by 6, so technically, he failed. Also, at the end of Saw III, Amanda admits to being a murderer because she supposedly killed Eric Matthews as well as Adam, but John tells her he despises murderers and that she’s not one because he cleaned up her mistakes. Mistakes with an s. And Saw IV did show Matthews still alive, so Adam’s gotta be. Also, there’s a deleted scene that shows Amanda and Adam meeting on the stairs when he’s about to take pics of Gordon and she’s about to hide in his closet, and they were kinda flirty. Kinda irrelevant, but that was an interesting fact because I recently learned it, and I’ve had the idea that him and Amanda would’ve liked each other for a while, so that confirmed it. Oh, and in another deleted scene, when she’s about to kill Adam, John gives her a suspicious look, which they didn’t put in the finished movie, but the director thought it was important enough to include. There’s other stuff about the cuff being on the wrong foot of his decomposed body anytime they’re back in the bathroom, and that’s a pretty big thing to get wrong. There are other good reasons, too, in The Film Theorists video about it. That video made me 99% sure he has to still be alive.
Anyway, can’t wait for more reacts. I’ll definitely be here for Saw X, Jigsaw and Spiral. I went ahead and watched Trick ‘r Treat for when you reacted to it. I hated it, not gonna lie, but I know I’ll still have fun with your react.
As for other horror franchises, I think Paranormal Activity would be a great one. Also, if you have time to squeeze in Talk To Me, that movie is wild. People are calling it the best horror movie of this year, and it was made by CZcamsrs.

The twist of Dr Gordon being an accomplice was theorized since Saw II was released, so it's not really a great twist to many. It is, however, refreshing to see someone that had no prior knowledge enjoy it without committing to the community's years of speculation. Saw 7 is probably my least favorite, but they do improve in the later installments. I can already tell you'll love Saw X and I look forward to your thoughts on it.
Even though so many movies do twists for better or for worse… but man, this franchise does them so well. It’s like whaaaaaat?! I felt bad for Jill, but she should of gone off the grid and hightailed it to a different city. I can’t wait for Saw X.
Hoffman might be still alive cause in film when they cut to black, It means that the person hasn't died. They left 7's ending very open to Hoffman being alive. He's cunning enough to escape the reverse bear trap, so he could easily break his ankle to escape the bathroom.
Id love to see a Saw movie where Hoffman amd Gordan battle it out and set traps for their comrades on the way.

3D Installment Fact: A week before filming began on Saw VI (2009), director Kevin Greutert was informed that the film would be post-converted to 3D. He was upset at this decision as he hadn't planned or storyboarded such a move. The idea was dropped for that installment due to time constraints, but resurrected for this film. Had the longest pre-production schedule of any "Saw" film. The complexity of the 3D process inflated the usual 9 week prep into 21 weeks.

Dr Gordon was hinted at being involved with Jigsaw throughout the series. In the Saw 2 opening trap, when Michael watches the tape of the key being sewn into his face, the hooded figure has a limp. In Saw 5/6, we see Jill delivering the envelope in the hospital. Unfortunately his actor fell out with the Saw producers over money. After the lawsuit was settled, he agreed to come back, but only for the final film. He's since confirmed that he's never returning to Saw.
As for the other two pigheads, its something left over from the original scripts. Saw 7 and 8 were planned to be filmed back to back, but where condensed into one rushed script after Saw VI underperformed. In the original, Brad and Ryan's public trap was meant to be a flashback set after Saw 1, and would be Dr Gordon's first game. (it was also originally supposed to be set ontop of a building, where the trap would push one of them off), it would have been revealed that they had been helping since then, and where the two assistant pig heads. But since their story was all scrapped in the condensed script, the identity of the pigheads was left a mystery and up to viewers own interpretation. A lot of people like to believe that Daniel Matthews or Adam was one.
Also in the original scripts, Dr Gordon would have recruited other survivors from the help group. They would have been present in the bathroom when they chain Hoffman up there.
The backwards cap is legendary!!!! 🧢 Oh man… I got chills the whole time the music started and the twist commenced!!! Even just watching you! But yes, this one has another couple heartbreaking deaths with Jill and of course poor Joyce!!! 😢 I LOVE Dr Gordon and I wish he wasn’t so unhappy with the franchise because it would be Everything to have him be the new jigsaw!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤🪚👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I must say, for all the horrible reviews and mixed feelings towards 3D, it is so refreshing to see someone have a happy and excited reaction to the ending and the Dr Gordon twist. These reactions are what make Saw that much greater as a fan.

I think that the First Game and the Game of the fake Jigsaw survivor were made by Gordon and not by Hoffman, because Hoffman was already hunting down Jill and there was no way he could do more games with so little time.
They were made by Hoffman. Gordon couldn't make the game because John forced him to stay in the shadows. Dagan was chosen by John to be tested and it was the last game the Hoffman did for John before he wanted to strike out and jigsaw on his own.

Fun fact: The two accomplices of Dr. Gordon was supposed to be the two boys in the beginning trap who joined him maybe because they are now reformed men and wanna help Jigsaw's cause. It was supposed to be filmed where Gordon convinced the two boys to join him but never went through maybe because it's irrelevant knowing they thought it will be the final movie of the franchise.

Honestly, I've been waiting weeks to see your reaction to the Doctor Gordon reveal at the end of this movie and you did not disappoint.😂 While this might not be the strongest Saw film overall, it was still solid, and provided one of the best twists in the series, imo. I just watched Saw X this past weekend, and I'm sure you'll love it. It takes place between Saw and Saw ll(My two favorite Saw films.😁)
It's Todd from Final Destination as Matt Gibson :D. The thing is, John Kramer should of at least expected with Hoffman being an escape artist, that he may find a way to escape that trap. But this Hoffman is fucking AMAZING. My favorite Saw character right next to John Kramer :D. This is the PERFECT ending and Dr. Gordon coming back to put Hoffman away in the Bathroom game. But the thing is? I could see Hoffman putting something in the Bathroom, thinking 20 steps ahead like John Kramer in case something did happen after he killed Jill. The Hoffman actor keeps saying that Hoffman isn't dead and I mean, after all? He was just left there to rot and we know that Hoffman is an escape artist :) . The Dr. Gordon actor hates these movies because he was kind of screwed out in the first movie money wise. I can't wait to see you react to Jigsaw when you get to it. That's one of my personal favorites and that twist completely got me in that movie.

I don't think this movie is as bad as everyone says it is. Sure, the acting can be pretty silly at times and some pretty goofy dialogue, but I still actually like it. I mean, this is the film where Hoffman goes full "Hoffmanator", and that's just awesome! We even got Chester Bennington! Bobby's game actually wasn't that bad. I just wish he could've saved at least 1 person to change things up a bit, and definitely not have his wife die!
This movie suffered a lot from studio interference. It was originally going to be 2 films, Saw 7 and Saw 8, but was changed at the last minute so Kevin Greutert, Marcus Dunstan, and Patrick Melton worked their asses off to try and re-write it within the very VERY limited time they were given before they had to start filming. Also, Kevin wasn't even supposed to be involved. David Hackl, the production designer of 2,3, and 4 and the director of 5, was supposed to direct but Twisted Pictures dismissed him and forced Kevin to direct it......2 weeks before filming. I still think they did a decent job wrapping up the series considering all of these issues. It's definitely a better film than Jigsaw.......that one just.....it played too much on nostalgia and it makes ZERO SENSE, but it revived interest in the series so that's some good that came from it.
As for some fun trivia, the "public execution" trap actually had a different ending. The same guys survived, but the camera would pan into the back of the crowd and show John Kramer with Dr. Gordon. This was supposed to be Dr Gordons first trap that he designed.
Something about the color filtering in this one made all the blood look pink and...yeah I still can't believe nobody thought to correct that.
Also my big issues plot-wise are
1) Jill going from a sort of mastermind secret-keeper who pulled strings in 4-6 suddenly being this meek and terrified damsel who did nothing but act scared and scream a lot.
2) The trade-off of Hoffinator in Saw VI is that by the time this one came around, any potential rival for him was already dead. No Rigg, no Strahm, no Perez; we had to have Gibson introduced for no other reason than "give Hoffman someone to face off against" and his entire personality was basically "be sarcastic at Jill a lot."
They were kinda forced by the studios to do 3D (more studio interference). I wouldn't be surprised if having Hoffman be more of a typical slasher villain in this was something the studios pushed for as well. It kinda contradicts all his development in Saw V and Saw VI as "not a true killer" and more of a manipulator, a strategist who only killed when he was cornered to preserve himself, sorta like Jigsaw in the first Saw. I'm honestly impressed the movie is as decent as it is considering all of the drama behind the scenes. Like, apparently, Kevin was up doing rewrites the night before they started filming trying to fix the film. It's pretty insane. It also explains why Melton and Dunstan didn't come back as writers for Jigsaw, Spiral, or Saw X.
@@Gioeli76 That's why like...as much as I get the criticism of the movie, I usually try and defend it (somewhat) as it really wasn't the fault of the writers/director/actors involved.
Also I'd not be shocked if the studios saw the response to Hoffman taking everyone out in Saw VI and went "yes; give us an entire movie of him doing that; please."
The public trap was supposed to have been Dr. G's first? If that's true, then where within the period of time that encompasses I, X, and II was this trap supposed to take place - after I but before X, or after X but before II?

Now you should watch Jigsaw and Saw X, in that order. Leave Spiral for the last one; it doesn’t continue the story of John Kramer, so it’s an stand-alone movie.
Jigsaw is worse, it ruins any continuity of John’s story. Still want him to watch but it’s a stand-alone too, otherwise it ruins cannon. I mean flat screen tvs, glowy eyed billy doll all taking place before even 2004 saw?

@@sproductionsinc like only watch it if you are a super fan really, which i am but i hate the film. nothing relevant at all in it to any other film, it is basically a self enclosed spin off with no returning characters besides one brief cameo. so yh i would say just do Saw X
@@tjdw5251 Jigsaws still cannon, so he should watch it. It’s not a good movie, but at least it’s entertaining. Besides, he will appreciate Saw X more after that one.
Also wanted to point out with how much I HATED Simone in this movie. While I don't expect every person who has survived a Jigsaw trap or test to be "grateful" or "thankful," she had NO right to belittle or berate Sidney the way she did at that Jigsaw Survivor group meeting at all! Had she not had been tested, she and Eddie would STILL be ripping people off and continuing their shenanigans. Simone should consider herself lucky to even have the privilege to be still alive at all! She's lucky to have "handicap parking at the damn mall" lol.

While the twist doesn’t make a whole lotta sense, I gotta say the ending is extremely satisfying and kinda poetic
yeah dude that was funny seeing jigsaw with a hoddie and a backwards cap just like hoffman using that dead women's head to nod towards the door and when he said to jill in that dream the problem killing you is i can only do it once that was ruthless and funny , i enjoyed that ending!
The real big issue I have with this movie is they kill an innocent woman in the most brutal way possible. Cooked to death in a brazen bull trap. Was pretty cool to see the aftermath of a reverse bear trap.
Also in case no one else said it the other two pig masked guys that were with Gordon are apparently the two guys that were in the opening trap.

@39:36 the other two in the pig masks were the two guys at the start of the film being tested. That game was Dr. Gordon's game.
The two pig masks working for Lawrence at the end were the two guys from the public execution trap at the start of the movie. This movie was meant to be in 2 parts but the studio decided that wouldn't work so they mushed the two plots together.
The two other pigs are supposedly the two young men from the beginning trap.

Agreed, he was a scrub through the whole movie. He did try pretty hard with Cale and Joyce but… they still died in the end lol
I know I’m in the minority but I really enjoyed this one! Bobby’s traps were pretty solid and the ending twist was so good!
And honestly, the public first trap was so cool to me! If we take Saw 2 out of the equation, this is the only other thing I remember from any of the other movies at all. Lol

I wish they didn’t add the scene of Hoffman gunning down the homeless man. I know he’s turned to the dark side but I liked that he initially only wanted his sisters killer to die, but that scene made it seem like he was always evil. Kind of ruined his character a bit for me.
I also wish they didn’t reveal Gordon at all until the twist. It would have been way more impactful for me!
feels weird? I cant imagine the pain of having a litteral FISH HOOK getting pulled through your stomach and throat. I would think logically the damage done by the hook on its way out would kill her either way if she is not in a hospital within seconds.

Like lots of others have said, the Dr. Gordon theories were rampant for years! I think they probably would have brought him back sooner, but there was a contract dispute between the powers that be and Cary Elwes (Gordon’s actor) after the first movie. If I recall, it went on for a few years. So glad we got him in the end though!
Oh no, please don't skip over "Jigsaw" and "Spiral", it makes "Saw X" even better if you watch the films in order of release.
I'm such a big fan of yours after watching all the saw movies with you and all of your other scary movie marathons but why did you skip saw 9? aka spiral? it is the 9th installment of the storyline. and then saw x is after that. just curious if you did it on purpose or just didn't know
