    As a detailer for over 27 years, I found out early on when it comes to rinsing the soap off of a vehicle, be it a car,truck, and motorcycle, if you use the spray nozzle it will eventually trap soap somewhere on and in the vehicle that you cannot see. I always recommend that you take the nozzle off and let the water cascade starting from the top and let gravity take place. This way it's less water spots, little to no trapped soap, and it will be a lot easier to dry in the end. Built up soap deposits attract dirt . Just my

      I was watching a Harley guy wash his bike. He had what looked like a gigantic hair dryer. Looked it up and it is a high velocity dryer designed specifically for drying bikes. The Harley guy spent about an hour cleaning his bike. Absolutely gleaming when he took off. Back in about 15 minutes and ready for another wash. Riding in the rain is the washing my bike gets.

    just tip
    1. when washing your bike, always scrub the fairings (plastic covers) first, then the engine then lastly the lower side (wheels, swingarm, underbelly) you do them last because mud and dirt mostly sticks to these parts and when you wash them it will mix to your soap and sticks to your brush/sponge, you wont want to have that dirt and soap mix on your plastics
    2. towel drying your bike is ok but i dont like it, first its more tiring to wring your towel every time, 2nd it would still leave a little pockets of water specially those in hard to reach area. if you dont have a blower try to ride your bike in your neighborhood (preheat the engine first), just to give your bike fresh air and it would dry those parts, also dries your sweat lol and saves you from tiny scratch your bike get from rubbing dry towel to it

  • @DawsonTyson
    @DawsonTyson Před 11 měsíci

    You shouldn't de-grease your chain. I clean with what the manufacturer recommends, which is kerosene. I also use what DID recommends as a lubricant, which is gear oil applied with an oil dripper. Came across a big jug of synthetic 95-140 for cheap, 4 years ago. I'm still using it. On a 250/300 you can get away with 1500 miles with no issues, 600 class and up should be lubed every 500-800 miles. I like the spray can lubes for long road trips.

    • @DawsonTyson
      @DawsonTyson Před 11 měsíci

      Just to cover what many will think, with all lubes, you will have some sling. What I have found is that the Heaviest gear oil is the best, and using as little as possible reduces sling. I was talking with an old timer and he said they use to mix gear lube and assembly lube to increase the moly and zinc content as well as the viscosity. I'm not sure how economical that would be today.

      You're actually lubing the sprockets and rollers for the most part.
      So when you return from a long ride.
      Take a minute or two and lube the chain while it's warm/hot.
      Then let it set overnight.
      No one said clean all the lubricant off the chain and go for a ride.
      It's not completely necessary to lube AFTER a ride but it helps a little.
      The heat will help the lube soak in around the O rings as much as possible , which is very little.
      As long as you let the lube sit for awhile it can tack up and not fling off straight away.
      I've seen plenty of dry crusty chains out there. A little lube is better than nothing.
      Remember. You're lubing the sprockets and rollers.

    Owel off then ride it dry as engine heat evaporates any puddles on engine nooks and crannies. Places blower never reaches on faired bikes
