Nooran Sisters earned worldwide popularity right after the release of song “Pathaka Ghuddi” composed by legendary composer A.R. Rahman. Jyoti and Sultana Nooran were trained in Sufi music by their father Ustad Gulshan Mir. Following the tradition of Sham Chaurasi Gharana and Mirasi, Nooran Sisters quickly catapulted into success by staying close to their roots.
An initiative of Sun Foundation; ‘Dhaka International FolkFest’ is a celebration of sheer musical brilliance where myriads of folk artistes from home and abroad perform on a single platform.
নুরান সিস্টার্স পাদপ্রদীপের আলোতে আসেন কিংবদন্তি কম্পোজার এ.আর.রহমানের গান গেয়ে। তবে জ্যোতি ও সুলতানা নুরানের সংগীতজীবনের সূচনা একেবারে ছোটবেলাতেই, বাবা উস্তাদ গুলশান মিরের কাছে গানের তালিম নিয়ে। শ্যাম চৌরাসি ঘরানা এবং মিরাসি ঘরানার গান করে নুরান সিস্টার্স সাফল্য পেয়েছেন অল্প সময়েই। ফোক গান দিয়ে শ্রোতাদেরকে মাটি ও শেকড়ের কাছাকাছি নিয়ে আসার অসামান্য ক্ষমতা রয়েছে তাদের।
সান ফাউন্ডেশনের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত ‘ঢাকা ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফোকফেস্ট’ লোকসংগীতের এক মিলনমেলা। এ উৎসবে বিশ্বের নানা প্রান্তের লোকসংগীত শিল্পীদের পরিবেশনায় অসাধারণ সব লোকগান শোনার সুযোগ পায় বাংলাদেশের মানুষ।

I've seen loads of troll videos where these ladies are mocked for the way they immerse themselves in their singing....that's sad considering how talented they are..and what a power packed live performance ❤️
Funnily, I found them watching those troll videos. and now I like them
I have no real cultural connection to the song or the style of music and had to look up lyrics and meaning, but idk how you can mock this? Its such an awesome energy, passion and obvious musical talent at work. Mocking this just proves a total absence of any sense of music. I wish more musicians could generate and transfer so much energy.
They mock these because they don't know even the "a" of music..

Western Indian or east Pakistani folks are often characterized by high beats, high pitched voice and high energy. Good music reduces the barrier of language, ethnicity and culture. The lyrics of song is all about breaking the chains of systems and stereotypes. Salute of these sufi sisters who devoted their life to MUSIC (i.e God or Peace or Allah for them).
East Bengal has lots of similarities with North Western India
