The results of this one were pretty odd compared to the video where we tried lubricants - • We cover brake rotors ... .

"Like the man said, toothpaste."
A bit of translator commentary there ;).
I liked that also
Hello! Always make sure to keep your car's dental hygiene up to date!
All four rotors on my Jeep Grand Cherokee have holes. Should I take it to a dentist and have them filled? This is very scary. Oh, what to do! Oh, what to do? Anybody? Anybody?
@@Colorado_Native It depends on whether or not your rotors are designed to have a cavity tolerance or not. Sometimes they have cavities to help the brake pads bite without burning their mouths. In your case however, I would likely recommend an automotive dentist since I don't know if those holes are supposed to be there.
@@itsskip Oh, thanks for the reply. We've found the holes in the rotors quite handy fo squishing the mud out when going over some of the high-mountain passes here. Do you think making the holes bigger would help? How about drilling out the pads? My mechanic recommended flossing. I think he meant for the Jeep and not me. Ideas? Thanks.
You wanna have those brakes to have a nice bite. Keep em healthy.
@@rianhines8747 Mine has a noticeable overbite on the front. Should I be concerned? Will rotating the tires help? I seem to use the brakes more going downhill. I'm concerned about this. Have you seen some of the dropoffs on Hwy 145? They're scary.
Garage 54 you take science to a higher level. Now we don't have to go through life not knowing the truth of all these crucial bits of knowledge . Maybe you should wear those white lab jackets, they always give a serious look to scientists.
Na, they take science to the grocery store. 😂
I usually put a few breath mints in my engine oil. It makes my oil changes minty fresh.
you should put condom on your stick shift knob. it might protect from wear and tear xD
Marvel mystery oil 1/4 wintergreen by volume.
Marvel Mystery Oil does the same thing.....
@@Colorado_Native So I imagine that you can hear the man speaking Russian under the English dubbing, since it is pretty obvious that you are a paid Russian internet troll posting here in order to sow discord among Americans...
Even if you do at least you pay some attention to your engine oil and not wait till it turns into jello and has to be pryed out with a crowbar.
HEY GARAGE54! Would putting different smelling 'Essential oils' in your fuel (or engine oil) make the exhaust smell nice? Like Peppermint, Lavender etc etc? 🤔😏 🤣🤣
😎🇬🇧
They do make a sent additive for kerosene it's also a cleaner have not used it in gas but in diesel in heaters and it's cleaned up every heater that I have used it in first time had a kerosene heater that blew out nothing but black smoke used a hole bottle in 2 gallons and by the end it was clear no smoke and had a good sent u can get it at home Depot but a lot cheaper at Walmart just not as much of a selection
8:28 I actually laughed when I noticed the pun with the polish artist Tobi King singing in the background when it was the abrasive polish wax... good job

greatest packaging design ever!
Toothpaste usually contains Hydrated Silica as an abrasive. Essentially sand.
I suspect the heat tolerance is a big factor. If the liquid part of the formulation has a low boiling point, I assume there will be a "steam hydroplaning" effect, where the steam creates a low friction barrier of steam. Has happened in aircraft runway overruns before
The 800 grit abrasive particles are thicker than the steam cushion could be.
-Had they pushed the pistons back so the pads were not that close to the disk, and then sprayed the disk itself with something like 3M 80 spray on contact adhesive, I bet that thing would lock its brakes right up and stop in shorter distance than stock.
Well, the metal polish is a great way to clean the rotors up before an MOT test, just remember to change the pads... :P
What if you put sandpaper in between the brake pad and rotor to increase friction?
I'd imagine it would very quickly polish the surface of the paper like their wooden brakes they tried
Better idea would be to try coarse grinding stones like you would use to sharpen a knife
1:17 I never expected to see an organic vegan product on this channel😂
why not?
Another awesome experiment. Love you guys, and all the amazing videos y'all make. You guys do everything I've ever wanted to try, but never did because i didn't want to ruin my car. A stick shift is hard to find here in the USA, and I'd like to keep my 1997 Kia Sephia as long as possible instead of scrapping it. The engine is still quite healthy after about 500,000 miles (800,000km) and aside from a few electrical gremlins and no air conditioning, it actually doesn't run badly. I replaced timing belts and the clutch myself at home in my front yard, and still drive it till this day. Anyway I love you guys, and y'all's awesome videos. Much love to y'all from South Carolina USA.
Cheers Guys. Have fun with all these cool car vids. Enjoying it here in Canada.
I have an idea for G54 to try.
Engine Centipede.
Air goes in an engine, exhaust is hooked up to the next engine's intake.
How many engines can run like this?
Bonus points if you can make it per cylinder by going by firing order. How many cylinders will have usable air?
Only the garage 54 lads would do a brake test on a road lined with huge trees 😂😂 Legends 😂👍
I believe the biggest issue with this is that as soon as the pads start to compress onto the disc, it will not let the particulates pass between them, rendering no advantage, and any fluids or detergents will leave a film reducing effectiveness of the pads futher
My brakes never smelled so fresh.
Need to try and use sand paper or even use a grinding stone as the brake disc this will grab the brakes great
The packaging for that valve grinding paste is genius
Once you contaminate the brake pads like you guys did with the previous experiment with all kinds of lubricants you have to change the brake pads after each product to make a precise comparison on the braking distance
Who knew toothpaste was such a good lubricant. I would never guess.
Great channel👍 Would be cool to see common rail diesel engine ran on waste oil's & straight into the tank.. To see how far the tolerance's can be pushed
The whitening part of the toothpaste is probably hydrogen peroxide. Toothpaste normally has abrasive in it. There's a dental abrasive index (I've forgotten what it's called), and toothpaste varies widely in its abrasive content.
int he first to say to make a marble rotors and rear drums from marble counter tops....it very hard and heat resistance good looking And another idea test sand in stock , aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and wood brake drums to see the damages results made from the shop...
I think toothpaste has so many other things in it acting as lubricants it really leans more toward just being lube. A paste of water and sodium bicarbonate slathered onto the rotors instead might be more accurate for "abrasives"
NICE TO SEE THAT THE SNOW AND ICE HAVE MELTED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My guess is the toothpaste grit is acting like tiny rocks under tires, for the pads to brake rotor contact causing tons of slippage
Minty fresh Lada brakes! How refreshing!👋🤣👍
Check their other videos for the Sandpaper and Grinding Stones test. Not the same, as they didnt actually drive the car. But the effects on the rotors are interesting to compare.
Stay gold.
This is all fun. but the only way to test it correctly, would be to put on the stuff, brake. then clean all the parts, and do a second brake-test. then you have to replace all parts before testing the effects of a different stuff to put on. It will also be expensive. Anything you lube the brake parts will only lube them, not help them.
Definitely try with snail creme, (or snail extract) as a replacement for the bearings grease to see if the car goes slower :D
Wonder if you could turn your rotors with polishing paste and a set of cheap pads.
Now i want to see Teflon treated brake rotors then the stuff they use for those granite stone frying pans on brake rotors
Hello vlad , I got an experiment for you.Make an engine half diesel half petrol with the desired bore stroke and a separate induction system
Dude really did this test without any protection again.
my ladas blower and rearwindow warmer only work for maybe 1 minute when starting the car do you have any idea what could be wrong with it
I pour Listerine into my radiator and use dental floss as a serpentine belt
Can you glue sandpaper to new braking pads to rectify/resurface brake discs/rotors? eventually the sandpaper will disappear so every time you put new brake pads you have a super smooth surface?
Its the stuff that makes your teeth sparkling shiny that makes brakes slip most.
Does it decrease the effective surface area of the pad?
Try the same tests with slotted and dimpled rotors
i never thought someone will do such a thing 😅
No Cavities and luckily thee rotors weren't crossed drilled .
Replacing the brake bads with some wood that has screws that poke through and contact the rotors would be "interesting"
Using some files as breakpads would be very interesting 😁❤
Press the stuff into the brake pads?
Those look similar my sti pads (no tools needed, just the tire iron.)
NOW I REMEMBER THAT FOREST, I THINK IT WAS JUST OUTSIDE CHERNOBYL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You gave those rotors and pads fluoride poisoning.
Try making pads out of grinding stone and glue it to metal base so it won’t break
Should try the most extreme super lubricants to increase braking distance LoL
Rotors and pads are specially designed to immediately wipe away all foreign abrasive substances.
Try Apple juice! Trust me. The suggar will caramelize and the pads will literally stick to the rotor.
Rode to a million subs evryone !!!!!!!
Nice!
At least your LADA doesn't have to worry about tooth decay or rotor 'black heads'' now!!
Is there any improvement in tartar control? 🤔
you should try filling drum brakes with different things
Put grooves in rotors but deep
Garage 54= LADA killer
I use Pepto-Bismol or Alka-Seltzer if I get a bad tankful of gas...
wait.. did you installed brand new brake pads and hard brake it?
Try thermal paste for computers on brakes next.
You should try to mount 4 pot radial calipers from motorcycle on this car
Hi, I just discovered this channel and I want to know if there is any place where I can watch it in the original language?
I don't speak Russian, but I prefer to watch it with subtitles than dubbed 😅
Гараж 54
@@alexdro4389 thanks man
Try new 0W20 oil in old Mosvich engine and measure oil pressure and watch how engine works at different temperatures.
How about making the brake pads out of cement or lead
That's not how we clean out brake parts, over here.
Is that an organic test?
You were disappointed that the whitening toothpaste didn't whiten the disc rotors
Make 4 separate brake pedals for each tire and see will it turn or drift better
Why not try different types of glue for breaking instead?
👍👍👍
The hayabusa is an inline 4, You should make a motorcycle with a lada motor :D
I wonder how baking soda toothpaste would affect it being more abrasive
Sandblast some rotors?
Queria ver vcs fazendo um carro com partida na manivela igual aqueles antigos os primeiro automóveis valeu abraço irmão 🫡
Must do it at least 3x to know whats going to happen
Remove all brakes an use an anchor ⚓️
Why the toothpaste not white?
Is that filmed at pripiat?
No.
Shoulda used drag slip tar
Maybe make GLASS brake pads.
Do they actually take suggestions from this channel aswell or just from their Russian channel? And what's the time gap?
Spray brakes with gasoline when stopping from high-speed.
So now we know if we want to cause somebody to have a bad day, toothpaste..
try superglue and then brake
😮😮
Can you get a car to have colored exhaust smoke or scented?:)
2 strokes using bio oil smell like french fries.
Why Sirgay has such heavy feet? 😮
make break pads out of sand paper :)
Yah, probably best to keep the tooth paste on your brushes . lol
So.... does this mean we should start using toothpaste instead of oil in cars? >:D
test watercooled brakes... ?
Peugeot tried that for F1 in the 1990's and couldn't make it work effectively.
Would have to be something other than water. Something that won't boil under 600 degrees F.
Still not enough to stop fast enough with yo mom in the car
I mean your mom is orbiting earth, what can car brakes do against that...
Yo mama so fat when she walks by people put on eclipse glasses.
Make wooden brake pads.
Tooth powders.. sounds like something russians would use.. tooth powder, laundry powder, gun powder, baking powder, in russia is all same thing..
They might even replace brake fluid with vodka, something that every home there has in abundance~

Is Putin your older brother?
