- F1 Team Manager's Ford Escort race at Brands Hatch in 1971. Brabham, Chapman, Surtees, Williams, Mosley, Tyrrell..they're all here, with pit signals from their GP drivers! With commentary by Graham Hill.

A lovely reminder of how hilarious Graham Hill was.
Barrie Gill: Jack must be using his mirror more than looking out of the windscreen, mustn't he Graham?
Graham Hill: Highly unlikely. I've never known him to use his mirror at all.
Thanks for uploading this. My dad purchased Surtees car, Ford Mexico HLA 206K after this event. At the time we only knew that Surtees had driven the car but did not know where. I now know. Dad used it for many stage rallies and then entered it in the Welsh Rally a couple of times in the 70's. Great memories.
Do you know where the car is now ?
@@cdim5672 Hi, sadly no. Dad sold it after doing a couple of Welsh rallies and them moved onto sprinting with a Cooper S. I had only just passed my driving test at the time dad got the Mexico but I took it out for a few times - awesome car.
Great car
The golden days of motorsport. Unimaginable today.
Great to see Frank Williams doing some racing!
*_"Unimaginable today."_*
I don't see why. Maybe insurance would be a problem...?

Insurance is a big reason. Plus the different CVs of current team principals.
Fabulous video ! The amazing thing is you can virtually "race" this and have fun using the venerable GT Legends with the exacting Ford Escort Mexico mod... And on any classic circuit !
bought back memories i was there that day standing at paddock hill bend wonderful
The best race I've seen in a long long time and being a former MK1 Mexico owner this was great to watch.
Here from the Autosport forums. Thanks Ensign14 for posting this. Such a great idea from the days when most if not all people involved in F1 were ex drivers themselves.
What a race bad luck to Colin. Awesome era for racing.
Some excellent footage of a golden age, sadly passed, before health and safety spoilt everything. Thanks for posting, brilliant Escort coverage, love it 👍👍👍some great drivers in a "real drivers" Car
Awesome motor racing.
Brilliant race. Back in the day when a Grand Prix had a good race card for the afternoon. Thanks for sharing.
This is perfect. Close exciting racing and banter filled commentary.
Horner would probably be fastest of today's lot.
I think Wolff would give him quite a run for his money - Horner never achieved anything significant - in fact in F3000 he only qualied for a couple of races,,,,,,,,,while Toto has held lap records around the Nordschleife. Pretty much the same as managers - Christian would have been sunk if it were not for Newey's genius.
@@CosmicSeeker69 Yeah, Toto would be my tip too. And if it doesn't work out, he can always throw his headset across the garage.
Brilliant video. My father was at Team Lotus in these days.
The Mk1 makes such a great spectacle.
What a headbanger Chapman was, on and off the track! We will never see the likes of these people again!
This was on the morning of the World Championship Victory Race (ironically a non-championship F1 race) in which Jo Siffert was killed
Loved my MK1 mex , BCV 40K.😊
Great video. Thanks!
Anyone noticed the actual racing 'Wing mirrors'
great race !
This was the terrible day that Jo Siffert was killed. I was there as a 14 year old boy and I still remember quite vividly the huge cloud of smoke coming from the woods and the silence as all the drivers switched their engines off.
Quote of the day: "I've never seen Colin (Chapman) look so happy - unless someone mentions money".
RIP Sir Jack
This is great.
I wish that I still had my Yellow Mex!!
Graham Hill was a very witty man
How entertaining!
Ciao!
Wish they would do a current day event?
This race was made up of a lot of ex drivers. Today they're all businessmen who get chauffeured everywhere!
Wonder how many of these cars survive in their original condition?
Certainly none of the ones from this race! They looked very second hand. Chapman would have thrown out all the seats, the dashboard, the spare wheel and the jack and probably all the door trims too.
I got two escort mk1's sitting in my garage
No doubt that alot have been shreaded and made into cutlery 😖😵😲😢
@@no1aussiepaulHi have you still got any of team challange car ref Hlaxxxk
