- Sky host Paul Murray discusses a document tabled in the Upper House that advises Labor senators on how to answer questions during the ongoing Senate Estimates.
“It is, in part, advice that is coming from the highest office in the land about how to answer or, more importantly, not answer questions," he said.
“When, in this case, when the shadow ministers or the Liberal Senator start asking tough questions, well, you just consult the script and don’t answer the question.”

Pointless having Senate Estimates, a previously important avenue in holding government accountable for the spending of taxpayer money.
They need real teeth, contempt of the Senate, should be a minimum 5 years in prison. No matter who they are!!! One chance to answer a question, with factual data!
Regrettably, Australia is not the only country that allows this disgraceful practice to perpetuate. The performance and behaviour of ministers within the Albanese ALP (Labor) socialist left government is atrocious and despicable.

A minister within a communist government is subject to far more scrutiny and a standard of proprietary than they are in AUS. A failure to uphold standards and to have been found to be corrupt may well lead to a death sentence

I'm old enough to remember back decades ago when politicians where asked a question, and mostly they actually had done their homework and answered the questions with facts and figures, and they then argued about the merits of their answers afterwards.
What we see now in politics is just pure dishonesty and hiding the truth !
If these politicians cannot give direct and truthful answers without making excuses or saying " I'll get back to you " , they should be sacked !

I can remember Albanese during the election campaign making a big point that if elected, an incoming Labor government would be " transparent and accountable." In the last two years the opposite has occurred - the Albanese government is intentionally vague, evasive and dishonest. The Labor government is the worst in living memory.

Get Andrew Clennell the next time that he interviews any labour politician, that when an answer is not given, so that he can to ask the labor poilitician if that they will "take it on notice" for the written answer and to refer to the document mentioned that they are using for answering the senate estimates for a possible answer. Asked a how many question, give a number.
Say you will give information on notice, have the question and answer published in the newspaper that week.

Fail a second time, get an instant $1000 fine and another $1000 docked from your pension.
Filibuster and get invited back the following day for five hours interrogation with the same rules applying.

Why not submit a question prior the meetings so the answer to said question can be researched and compiled prior the senate estimates so they have no chance of saying they will answer it later.
