Hiking to Eagle Rock on the Pacific Crest Trail

- Eagle Rock is a popular waypoint on the Pacific Crest Trail outside the town of Warner Springs. It is a great 6 mile trail that takes you through a nice shaded area out to a valley with massive views. We did this hike in February of 2020 and there was a lot of green and a small creek that ran alongside the trail. I imagine it is pretty hot in the summer months though.

We just did this hike and it was just as you described. You mentioned live stock and we were blessed with walking right past a herd of cows grazing under the oaks.
Perfect timing!! Kids no school, everything CLOSED, means plenty of hiking options.
It is a good time to be outdoors in nature and away from people for sure
Drove through temecula. Wonderful part of the wine area ☺
Hike this with my son this weekend. Really very easy hike. Josh you do a great job on these videos thanks for sharing.
Went there years ago, took a picture, got the photo published in the local Temecula newspaper.
The trail is really relaxing with lots of geocaches.
Thanks for showing your experience to the public.
I just did this hike a few days ago. Obviously, not as green because it's winter. The creek has barely any running water. Started the hike at 8:30 am and there were barely any people. Cool story: As I was walking back, I found a cellphone that someone dropped. I got back to the parking at the side of the road and found the owner of the phone!
It really doesn't like an eagle that's crazy! Thanks for sharing!
Love your content.. hoping you have a lot of content to be release here soon. Going to be bored at home with 3 weeks Of school because of what’s going on.
Thanks for the comment! It has been hard to get a lot of content but hoping to be able to stay on top of it. Lots of great video inspiration on the channel already though if you are looking for some places to explore!
We have a Eagle Rock West of Kingsland Texas across the Llano river from Long’s Fishing Camp
Spectacular! The rock truly does look like an Eagle about to take off out of the ground. Thank you for taking us along on this hike. Have a great evening. Regards, Randy in Arizona
Wow! What a neat spot & a nice hike!
Very cool rock formation! The hike looked pretty sweet too - great job as always!
I love this. Thank you ❤
That is my type of hike. I appreciate your play/work?
Thanks for the comment! Yep it is hard to call it work to get to explore so many cool places
Thank you!!
3 miles down, 2647 miles to go to complete the PCT
Haha I need to get back on the trail!
Great video, thank you!
The drone footage was awsome.
Awesome.... join into PCT even small part. So beautiful and calm place. I wanna say small happiness in our life. I wish trying PCT someday even in my dream. Thank you for wonderful video every time.
Awesome place. I just took my kids here last weekend.
Thats awesome! It is a great hike with a fun payoff at the end.
Fun area. We haven't hiked here in years! 👍
It was my first time as well!

Thank you
cool drone footage! and video overall
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Nice drone shots.
Thank you, just messing around with the small Mavic Mini
Btw that cactus he passed fried taste like okra. And Cactus Apples aka Prickly Pears taste and feel like watermelon. (Also the juice is a cure for hangovers)
I love Rosa's. My home town favorite. Try Miguel's JR, they have great bean cheese burritos.
Sweet, will do! It is hard for me to pass Rosas every time I go to Temecula haha
@@californiathroughmylens I have all of your Route 66 Videos, and most current Catalina Isle adventure. It Looks like I have time to go back and catch up on some cool CA Adventuring!
Love your channel. Keep it up man. I wanna do vlog style hikes on my channel and I’m not sure exactly how to integrate that
Think you'll ever do a thru hike of the PCT?
Would love to do the JMT but I don't think I would ever do the PCT
How will you be traveling with the coronavirus??
Yes!!! Rosa's cafe is amazing. The fajita nachos are sooooo bomb
Oh dang, I need to try that next time!
Where do you park to start this hike?
This looks like it would be a great hike for me. So basically, from the trailhead, 3 miles to the rock, and 3 miles back then?
Yep, it is around 3.2 miles each way. There is 800 feet of elevation but it is pretty spaced out along the trail. I just wouldn't do it in the heat of summer. Here is the trail map www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/pacific-crest-trail-to-eagle-rock
Thank you Josh :) Gonna check this link out, and yes, I agree. A sunny, but cooler day like in fall, winter or spring, would probably be the most ideal, especially for the open space-no shade portion of the trail. That is cool that the trailhead is next to a fire station.
Stop & say hi !
