  • How to repair your noisy Kenwood Fridge Freezer fan - for the home DIY enthusiast.
If your freezer is making a terrible buzzing noise and is vibrating excessively, it could well be the fan motor in the freezer compartment. It is a relatively simple fix to undertake with some basic tools.
The motor will be a common part used in several other models too. KEBALING MOTOR CO. LTD KB - 48ZWT05 -1204

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Weirdly enough, it seems to have sorted itself. The part arrived in the post when I got home but the sound of the wobbly fan had gone away. It’s still working as I can feel the cold air blowing out from the back. I’ll monitor it and keep the spare part, just in case.

That's a sure sign that it's on it's way out. Mine did the same and within a few weeks sounded like a grinder

I got the motor out (lost the 2 retaining screws)but it seems fine, no play in the fan spindle. There was loads of frost in there and I’m thinking this was what the fan was hitting. Should I be concerned about all the frost (or for that matter the 2 screws that I dropped inside)?

It might be worth defrosting the unit and cleaning it out Mark, plus check how cold the actual compartment is with a thermometer.
Is the freezer level on the floor and steady, that is, not rocking or vibrating. Other than that I'd just keep an eye on it and if the ice creams are nicely chilled for summer, you are on a winner

I was shown how to fix things by 3 fantastic people. My father first and foremost . Arthur, who was my foreman whilst an apprentice fitter. And finally Norbert, who showed me the German way to repair and maintain textile machinery.
They were all influential people who passed on a lot of practical skills, and more so in a way that I understood.👍

I was a maintenance mechanic in a modern day spinning plant at the time (1987 onwards) we made a 50/50% polyester cotton yarn 30's and 20's count.
I worked on the plant equipment from the Blow room to Carding, Drawframes, and Spinning machines . Nearly all the machines were German manufactured. They were good times and we all earned a good weekly wage where a product was made in Britain Terry

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I did 31 years in a weaving mill near Garstang, mainly as a weaver.Have you dropped into Calder Vale(near Garstang) on your travels? It is a dead end and has no cafes!, but has an old weaving mill at the bottom of the village.

@terrydickinson3296 interesting stuff Terry and thank you for sharing this info.
There was a cracking working textile museum in Helmshore which was well worth a visit, I'm not sure if it is open anymore.
Likewise somewhere over Buxton or Matlock way , there was a really big mill you could walk around.
My brother was a Weaver at the same company
