- Another interview special with Take That for The Ozone in 1995.
The near silence and body language from Robbie is really quite prominent in this one - A sign of his intentions of leaving, i feel!
Ahh Mark seems the only one who really loves Robbie. He kept touching Rob's shoulder every chance he could. Bless him! Lol. I bet Mark was gutted when Robbie left. Even more than the fans I reckon!
I remember an interview they did right after Robbie left. Someone asked Mark, when was the last time he cried. And he replied - When Robbie left..
I felt so sorry for Rob at the time.
how can they not notice how sad Robbie is
1:42 to 1:47 Jason looks at Robbie meaningfully. I think he noticed that Robbie wasn’t right.
They all new were just afraid to say it
I think it's pretty obvious he's either hungover or coming down from drugs or very very tired
No I love Robbie to bits and pieces💓💕🩷❤️🔥🔥
awww Robbie
I think Robbie would have left regardless. Plus, they did not stay together after he left, so ALL of their lives changed. Only the five of them will know what was actually said, but it seems that they all remember the departure in different ways.
To be child/teenage performers is tough/stressful, in a competitive biz...sink or swim.
I am soooo happy that they have all succeeded, that they are friends & eventhough they all seem to still hurt from the past, they care about each other & are friends/brothers from different mothers.
I cannot get over how talented they are...I have never seen concerts like theirs...amazing!
The reason why they split after Robbie left the group was Gary's solo career. Jason and, in particular, Howard didn't want to end. Even if Mark was very tired and shaken by Robbie's departure, he, alone, would have not taken the initiative to break up. They don't say it explicitly but the decision was of Gary. In any case, they were supposed to stay together as five two years more in order to conquer the US and afterward split to allow Gary to have his much yearned solo career. When Robbie left, Gary didn't want that Robbie's solo career (who acted as the first mover) foreshadowed his, so he (and Nigel) decided to end TT. Robbie left for many reasons. He was mentally and physically ill due to his addiction to booze and drugs. He was also suffering from depression, anxiety, insecurities, and self-hatred. His problems stemmed from his personality and stayed with him after TT but his relationship with other TT members and Nigel Martin Smith worsened his condition. He knew Nigel and Gary's projects and he felt useless, left out and used by them. He feared for his future and decided to step up for his own ambitions, but with no plan in mind whatsoever. From the start, he didn't like the "boyband" concept, and he couldn't bear it any longer. Plus, he has always been a lazy attention seeker, not very good at teamwork and planning. Finally, he wasn't able to perform and be dependable due to his mental and physical state. Thus, the others asked him to leave beforehand. Robbie would have left TT anyway because he knew TT was meant to end soon and only Gary was destined to succeed. This awareness didn't prevent him to spend a couple of years (1995/1996) completely wasted, secretly feeling alone, longing for TT security and success, regretting his decision. For his career, he has to thank his mother, his two managers (Kinsella and Enthowen), luck and, above all, Guy Chamber. Without them, he would have died of drugs and alcohol in his twenties, alone, in his London flat or in some hotel room around Europe with a notebook full of rough disconnected rhymes among his personal belongings.
Robbie bored and fed up but adorable
it's very hard to see Rob in that conditions :'( i wanna cry....
I think he is drinking again he has a large bottle of clear liquid
Robbie was very quiet in this!! So sad
Aww, at the beginning when Robbie makes Mark stop leaning on him. :(
It's just heartbreaking...
Omg Robbie looks so sad! :(
Rob looks so sad :(
the tension between Gary and Robbie is so obvious!!
This is one of the only times I've seen Gary trying to suppress tears. He generally keeps his emotions in check, but he can't look at Rob. He tries, but he cant....there's nothing harder than watching someone you love fall apart right before your eyes. 😢
S. MacDonald Gary says he didn’t realise that Robbie was having problems at the time.
@@Artois2011 Right?! I was going through comments to see if anyone else noticed that! There's so much going on here through nonverbal communication...you know something's gonna crack when stuff like this start to show in interviews.
They can see themselves on monitor infront and at 4:20 Gary obviously notices that Rob is off...and after 5:18 he looks completely devastated, as if he has just realised in what truly bad place Rob was physically and mentaly and that he was done. Don't know if he's suppressing tears but he certainly looks as if he's just been told that someone has died. This is the only time i've seen him like this.
@@yourvenus2304doubt it. At this stage of his life, Gary was always looking ahead. If anything, they were frustrated by Rob not being able to keep it together.
Robbie so high here he can’t even utter a single word😵💫😂
aww mark
you can tell there is problems here
Poor Rob, he didn't have much to do with "Nobody Else", the album - no lead vocals, just a few lines of rap on a song! It was just too obvious that he'd get bored, and have no priorities being with the band. It was good on him that he left, and that too becoming a successful solo artist which none could have predicted. I don't think anyone could imagine that he'd sell more records in the UK than the Beatles and equalize the tally of no. 1 albums with Elvis'.
+Manish It was was impossible to predict...even Rob didn't know that.Gary always wrote all of that beatuful music and lyrics, and was not successful as a solo artist...the oddities of life
At the time no one realised how bad his addiction was
apparently robby didnt wna learn the songs
This is so sad
Robbie seems so fed up
wow i feel glad that robbie left. he really doesn't look happy in this video :(
Rob has had enough and wants to break free - freedom
Robbie looks so sad, but also so in love with gaz!
Who you or Rob? Lol
and when Robbie does talk in this in the end..he gets cut off and no one agrees with him!!
Did anyone notice Robbie mimicking Jason and the others started to laugh! Lol
😄
Rob would be downright cruel to Jason at times, which he admitted and apologized for publicly in the doc special
Take That For The Record.
Wow good song guys
How come a human being be so gorgeous! Jason, you take my breath away! 😍
Yes, how come...who allowed you to be so gorgeous Robbie!?
Bet there's vodka in that water bottle
Shut up ya muppet
03:12 I chuckled at Jason's expression when Gary gives himself credit for picking Back For Good as a potential release.
This is so sad to watch. How could none of them see how lost Robbie was? Why did no one try and help him?
Robbie was a "baby" of 21 years old and quite arrogant in 1995. He didn't want to listen to people, in particular, his bandmates and manager whom he perceived as hostile and not "cool". He was hanging around with a group of opportunistic losers who provided him with drugs and alcohol. One cannot look out for an adult who doesn't want to be looked out for. For more information: "speaking tongue", Robbie Williams, 2017.
@sarahstevens390 Yeah he didn't join the band as a 21 year old though did he? He joined the band as a 15 year old and his problems existed long before 1995. Gary, Howard and Jason have all owned the fact they let Robbie down and didn't look out for him or stand up for him when Nigel was bullying him and playing mind games. He did it with them all but as Howard says, if it was hard for him as an adult of 22/23, how much harder was it to process for Robbie as a teenager. Fame messes everyone up kids/teenagers more so.
@@sunny70299 What they told when Robbie came back it was a little bit the storytelling, mainly in order to redeem Robbie "black sheep" Williams in the eyes of fans, to explain and justify why he left, he was angry and insulted his bandmates heavily. The manager was strict and temperamental (and considering their age, it was necessary to keep them focus) but he was no evil. Certainly, he made one big mistake: he favored Gary too much at the expense of the others but he was also the person who believed in the five of them all along and risked everything for them when no one wanted to do so. All the members, including Robbie, made mistakes, but they were all young/ immature (Howard, the oldest, was 22 years old). Despite his talent, Robbie was an arrogant indisciplined lazy boy from the start at 16 years old. Only recently, after his fatherhood, he has managed to mature and calmed down a little bit. Back then, they tried to help him and understand him to the best of their judgment but the young age, the immaturity, the hubrises, the pressure of a tight schedule and heavy money investments, the workload, the exposure and Robbie's hostility didn't help. As I wrote before, one cannot help someone who doesn't want to be helped. If Robbie Williams had not been so scared of death, he would have gone on taking drugs and drinking booze because he likes to have fun to the extreme. In the end, despite everything, they had a great time. In spite of his anger, Robbie himself stated it in "No Regrets". Otherwise, why did he miss the others so much all those years of estrangement?
@@sunny70299 The way you put it in your first comment (and following ones) was that the four of them (plus Nigel) were the guilty ones because they let down poor Robbie "victim" Williams, incapacitated and innocent like an infant. We can go on speaking for ages but the reality is that Robbie is majorly responsible for his own problems (which went on and on after TT for years) and he has his share of guilt like the others for what it happened. Again, despite his talent, he was lazy, arrogant, annoying, needy and attention-seeking. Howard was 22 years but 22 is still "young" and somehow inexperienced. Mark was 17 years old! They were all young and immature plus they were not Robbie's parents/siblings and they didn't have the authority to force him not to do something, considering the fact that Robbie has never wanted to listen to anybody, including his father. Regarding your reference to "Take That for the Record" (broadcasted in 2005, not 2006), they didn't redeem Robbie in that documentary at all (maybe you should rewatch it). I maintain what I said previously about storytelling. This doesn't mean that Mark, Jason, Howard, and Gary don't have their share of responsibility (Gary a little bit larger than the others). By the way, they tried to reunite also in 2003. They invited Robbie in 2006 to join in. They started the process to patch their relationship starting from 2006. As far as the consequences of fame, they were exposed to a lot of pressure but they were also granted a lot of privileges. They were working and paid a lot of money for what they were doing. When they began, they were all uneducated lads who couldn't sing, play an instrument or write music (aside from Gary). Try to find a decent job with these qualifications in the real world (Jason was a decorator; Robbie started selling glasses and so on..). In the real world, employees are exploited like commodities and they are not even paid well. All 5 TT members are not victims. They worked hard and deserve what they have but they were also very lucky.
@@sarahstevens390 Mark was 18 when he joined not 17. You are writing essays denying things the boys freely admit to and have apologised for. I don't think anything more needs to ne said.
Gary dan Robbie make me remember of Paul M dan John L...lucky they have waaaaay better story, after the similarity...but somehow i assume that, the success of each other motivate both (competition spirit~>in a good way) reaching their best achievement
Di interview ini robbie kayak nahan batin gitu.
oh man! Robbie is sooooo bored and on his way out! Glad he came back, but not for good...
4theloveofRob he's heavily
addicted to drugs in this time.
Stop with the Robbie is so great comments! 😂 at this point he was doing hard drugs. So yes he is disengaged. Fed up. Just wanted to go. He got in with some bad types after.
I feel sorry to rob at the time he look so sad fed up I wonder why left take that 1996
(
What’s the song in the background of their interview?
Was this before Robbie leaves! He seems so irritated by all the boys! Even Mark, and he and Mark were close weren’t they? He looks at them with such hate and disgust!
Rob's so hot but so bored lol love him so much
Robbie Williams the best !!!
Mitici
yep robbie looks bored
Robbie........LOL
Robbie is so cute
I think Robs getting too big for his boots here. There are some different opinions in the group but in a way, they all agree. They're sort of saying the right thing but thinking something different. Rob wants to crack America & do all that. He doesn't say anything because they're all saying being huge doesn't matter. He had other plans brewing. And he went on to become big. They all carried on growing after this...just young ambitious men in a room. Fair enough.
He didn't say anything because he was wasted.
Wow, seemed like some bullying going on there. Not sure from who or why. Robbie has always been good friends with Mark he says yet Mark keeps resting his elbow on Robbie’s shoulder. Robbie tries to subtly get him to move it then nudges his with his head which then works. However, having done it twice and Robbie clearly displaying he doesn’t like it, Mark does it for a 3rd time. THAT is bullying! Because of someone says once they don’t like something and the other person keeps doing it = bullying. Just wondering if Mark was told/being told to do that.
Terrible nonetheless especially when Robbie was in a situation where he couldn’t clearly tell him off as they were being filmed.
😂🤣
Mdr
In this video Robbie took drugs and was going to rave parties
Can anyone spot the fucking dive of the group?!?
Yep !!, YOU GOT IT RIGHT TIRST TIME.
The one sulking like a 👶
