- It finally happened! After weeks of working on this destroyed Trackhawk, we finally made it to the painting stage of the process. This is the most satisfying thing to accomplish in the rebuilding game. Now that the paint job is complete, its time to piece it back together. Their sister edits the videos. They work - give footage to her, work some more.. she keep editing.. by the time they're done with the episode, it's pretty much done and ready to go, and they get straight back to work.

Because I’ve seen y’all painting and making it look so easy I attempted repainting the hood of my sister’s car since it was peeling really badly. It didn’t turn out perfect, but you can only do so well with spray paint cans in a pole barn that you try to close off with tarps.ill have the final results though when I buff it tomorrow. The one thing I did perfectly was taping. So, long story short, thanks for inspiring me to be more confident in repairs and things I can do myself with cars. Peace ✌️
You can go to harbor freight and get pretty good gun for $10.

When I painted in my shop, I'd use an oil based sweeping compound for the pre paint cleanup. This would seriously keep down the floating dust you'd kick up just walking around the car

I always was taught to hose down the area that you are spraying in as this will help keep the dust on the floor and not become air bound. Keep up the good work. It's looking great

Agreed and where to get the seal skin!
First tip, rent a paint booth. You can control contamination, humidity and you can use the heat lamps to cure the paint more effectively.
To add, my local paint booth rental price is $150 per day rental on week days and $225 on weekends. Full down draft with floor suction to pull the overspray away from the panels and eliminate dust, it saves more money/product/time and the turns out 100% better.
I just commented the same thing and looked below mine and saw this one. Lol
When I was doing body work back in the day we used to wet the floor with a hose then drive the car in. It used to help a lot with dust being stirred up.
Never painted a car before but I was also thinking to wet the floor to stop dust getting picked up or get a thick plastic sheet and lay that on the floor and drive the car on to give a barrier between the floor and the air and stop the dust.
I no expert but I thought the same... they could have created some kind of umbrella above the car to cover dust from falling on the new paint
The down side to that is, it can cause humidity spots to happen in the paint.
You can also lay down newspaper and wet it down
They use to do that when they painted inside the habor freight carport. It sat on top of the concrete slab that their shop sits on now. They have had humidity spot in the past can't remember why but occurred inside the current shop.

Seriously of all the build you guys have done this is by far my favorite, even more than the lambo and ferrari. It may not be as exceptional as the italian exotics, but seeing a car so badly wrecked come back to life is just incredible, can't wait for mods !

I’ve found that the bets garage paint jobs came out when I wet the garage floor to reduce dust and there is a lot less trash and dust in the air
Was looking to their setup and wishing they would wet it instead...

Another epic paint job. You boys have GOT to get a straight up spray booth. Really hope that'll be a key part of the new facility- a dedicated paint booth, properly designed, built, down drafted through the floor, sealed doors, maximum excellent lighting with a long concrete pad to ramps. Plenty of spare room to shoot ancillary parts like flares etc. This has been an incredible build!

A good way to keep down dust when you're spraying is to wet down the floor, that way it traps anything that settles and you won't track in dust from outside when you're mixing paint

Dmitriy Fedorchuk yeah they’ve done it, wont keep them bugs off, it’s just too hot in the blow up booth right now. If their new shop doesn’t have a booth I’d be surprised. Also if size allows interior blow up booth indoor could work great.
Wont keep bugs off but it keeps dirt from getting stirred up during the spray. I told them this in the past but they never seem to do it
I’m surprised they haven’t painted the floor, that would help massively! Although you’ve gotta empty it out completely for a day or two!
I don’t think they paint the floor due to there being gravel right outside the door and they’re about ready to build their new shop, I’d assume they’re waiting for that to get built so they’re just gonna deal with the garage for now until that shop is done
I knew a painter that used to do body damage repair at his home shop. He would mist the floor before painting. Satisfied?

Found soaking the garage floor with water helps minimise the dust and “trash” especially when clearing! 👍🏻

Suggestion would be to wet the floor around your work area to stop dust from floating around. Just enough to wet it...not puddles. Nice work guys!

8:35 I can understand if you guys were going to paint in there once or twice to put the tarps up but I'm absolutely shocked that you haven't built some sort of roller system for your tools and mezzanine area. Can't wait to see the new shop!!!

Awesome build as always guys!! Here's a tip when spraying in your garage: buy a really cheap garden sprayer at your local hardware store. The kind you'd put herbicide or similar in. Put regular tap water in it and lightly spray it on the floor and the drop cloths hanging vertically from the walls. This will allow any dust that is left behind after cleaning to stick to the water and not remain floating in the air where it can get stuck in your clear coat. Good luck fellas!

I water the floor down when I paint in my garage to keep the dust down

Hi. Just a suggestion from someone who has been painting cars for a couple decades. You might want to start using the grey scotch brite pads right before you shoot sealer or base coat. I see shiny spots even after you go over things for the last time. If a rock or anything impacts where a shiny spot is you get an instant rock chip for sure. The maroon is good for right before primer. The gold is good for right before clear if you are blending. You should get a box of all 3.

Amazing work guys. The level of workman you guys manage to achieve is crazy. In terms of tips for painting I've seen a lot of other CZcams video's when doing painting the people will actually spray the hole floor with a hose pipe so all the dust is wet so shouldn't lift when the spray gun is in use.

hey a little trick with the quarter window there is a tape called J TAPE it has a plastic edge molded to 1 1/2 inch masking tape you slide it between the window rubber and the panel lift it up a little and stick the tape to the glass it holds a nice gap between the panels also when you use the foam around the door gaps etc stick a piece of 3/4 masking tape over the top of the foam so when your doors are shut the tape touches the back under edge of the doors and not the foam so it wont stick and no wet sanding the edge from the foam sticking and finally put a piece of filter on the top wall fan any trash in the air will get sucked in but over all nice job guys.panel beaters painters and goonzquad rock cheers from down under
