    I've been giving this topic a lot of thought, thanks for posting this.
    In another video you mentioned that you hate trailers, and yeah, sure a truck with a lift gate is the best... but, when you are just starting, as you mentioned previously... renting trailers from U Haul, for eg., runs around 25 (open) to 40 (enclosed) for the smaller ones in my area AND they DON'T charge anything for miles on trailers, however, all the truck rental services I've used recently charge $1 per mile on top of the rental fee... I ended up spending about $130 or so just to move stuff about 30 miles last year and you really feel those miles you are doubling up on. At least with U Haul, you can return to different locations, which is nice. But, I think I'm going to end up using U Haul for trailer rentals vs. renting actual trucks to save on the cost of miles... and also, with trailers.
    Although, it sure is tempting to pull the trigger on a nice new enclosed trailer with 6'-6" high interior, to start with.
    One thing about purchasing a new trailer is they are not all that much more than used if you can even find one, and they are hard to find with all the features you want... like ramp, walkable interior, side door... and the smaller 5 x 10 or 12 is hard to find used... it looks like they don't lose too much value. If I end up spending $4000 on the one I want now, and I end up selling it, it would likely sell quick for around $2500 to $3000 so it's not that big of a risk. That's just a big chunk of my start up budget though.

    I get what u saying... But living in Cape Town South Africa its difficult... Gas is priced so high... It's actually difficult pricing delivery, and clients are difficult. I have a custom made cake home business, and prefer clients to pick up themselves... Once the cake is out of my hands it becomes your problem, unless asked for me to deliver... And am try to venture into hiring... It's something I love...brings me so much joy to decorate venues... But I'm finding is so difficult to do. And ur videos are such a great help and such a confidence booster. I'll try and not feel so crap when charging delivery fees.

    Let me make sure I got this formula correct. 75 cents a mile then round up to the next hundred then throw some more on top of that. That correct?

      Local, we stuck close to the formula. .75x4. Raised it though to 1.00 for the two round trips. So 1x4. Further away we round up. If it’s $450, I’ll just round up.

    I plan on starting a party rental Business tables and chairs only For now where do you recommend I buy my tables and chairs and which ones do you recommend i buy? 6” tables or 8” tables and how many tables and chairs should I buy???

    Awesome video. My wife and I are strongly considering starting small for events and maybe small weddings. Do you charge a flat rate no matter what. Or if the party needs your equipment for two days do you just double the charge? Is it a day rate or for x amount of hours? Thanks for all the info!

      Hi, we consider it a weekend rental, just one charge. Drop off 1-3 days before, pick up 1-3 days after. The 3 days before is for things like big weddings. 1-2 days before is more realistic for smaller stuff. If it’s spanning two weekends, we charge 1.5 to 2x, depending what it is.

      @@thetentguy I had to use a different vendor where I live and they charged 10 dollars for the delivery. I think I will do that. The places in my area are barely 5 miles away.

      30x60 to 40x60. They can be sectional so you can make smaller or larger if needed. I buy from Aztec tents and eureka tents.

    If a delivery is 1 hr 30mins away from the business location drop & Pick up, how do i price that delivery?

      I price it at $1 per total miles. There and back for delivery and then there and back for pick up. If it’s far away, I will even round up. So it comes out $266 for delivery I’ll round up to 300. If it’s a larger order that’s several thousand dollars I may round up to 350 to 400

      Same here. Thinking of purchasing an existing event rental business, where the owners are retiring. They have some kind of software they recently started using, but they are not super technically minded,and said it has been hard to learn.

      1099 is hard to justify in this business. And that’s a hard question to answer. You need someone responsible enough to drive, so you gotta pay enough for that. Obviously, minimum wage would be great for you, but you’re probably going to have to pay a bit more
