Hey, as a Polish person I'm really glad you enjoyed the song! I really think this could be a good chance for us to get a good result, maybe even win if we tidy up some elements of the song.
Basically, we don't know what's gonna happen just like you, haha. No idea if there's gonna be an internal selection or a preselection, but either way, Justyna has said that she'll perform in the preselection if the need arises. I do think we're gonna lean towards an internal selection since TVP is a mess right now and Justyna's song is becoming quite popular.
Oh, by the way, the words in the chorus are not Polish per se, I believe they're some sort of old Slavic incantantions.
Yea. Those are proto-slavic agmas. Words (mantras) of power that connect you with the slavic gods. For example: you keep saying "jarga" if you wish to have money and health. Some kind of slavic spells. Justyna collected all of them and created a song. Real witch queen. ;)
I dont think that this song needs a pop hook, i think that would almost ruin the archaic mystic of the song. I think the song as it is is enough of a hook, im certainly enthralled

@@neconeconeco Justina uses an ancient Slavic mantra composed of Agmas (Slavic Words of Power), which were used to get into higher vibrations, pray to nature and the gods, and cast spells.
For example, Tarahoro is one of the Agmas that carries the energy of love and wealth, and Jarga cleanses negative and heavy energies and attracts prosperity ;)
Justyna's entry from 1995 is my personal favourite in Poland's Eurovision history and it was years ahead of its time. This song and performance are completely different, but despite initial hesitation I am on board! She's got an amazing voice and can move, plus coming back 29 years later with a banger like this makes for a good story. Keeping my fingers crossed for her! And if she wins, it will be on the 30th anniversary of Poland's participation!

In 1995 she had a boring song but she is still one of the most ultimate music queens in Poland and had many hits mostly in the 90s. Still she looks gorgeous and is very popular. Currently more as a trainer in Voice of Poland. This song is great but also Edyta Górniak considers taking part (not known song her) and Doda with her newest song "Mama"
She is a good choice for Eurovision
The CZ sound is pronounced as TCH so you did pretty well. Interesting what you have said about Dominik Dudek but Justyna would be a much better choice. As for the chanted words, they seem to be some pseudo-pra-slavic mantras invented by some anonymous neo pagans. I was trying to do some research but that's the only conclusion i was able to make so far 😅 i LOVED Justyna's entry from 1995, she has an outstanding vocal ability and is a natural born performer.
I would be glad to see your reaction to another Polish canditate for Eurovision 2024 - Pan Savyan with song "W kolorku amaretto". I'm quite fond of "Witcher Tarohoro", however this one is the first goofy yet thoughtful entry from Poland, that's just so unique. It's a parody on campy, bad disco-polo genre. Truly brings so much joy! Brings back memories of 2021 entry from Iceland. Pan Savyan should definately have his moment!
TVP is slowly returning to normal functioning. Directors of regional TVP stations have already been appointed, and all news programs are returning. The former ruling party (Law and Justice) does not agree with the decisions taken by the new government (the 15 October Coalition) and is occupying one of the TVP buildings. Because of this, the new government has to produce information in a replacement building.
As for Justyna - she is the favourite in Poland. There are a lot of positive comments about her and her performance during New Year's Eve. Something wonderful!

Jann też był no-name, wygrał głosowanie widzów w preselekcjach, w tym momencie soon trasa europejska i trasa europejska z Madison Beer. No-name nie ma nic do stracenia, a wiele do zyskania, w przeciwieństwie do gwiazd z sceny lokalnej. Eurowizja jest dla młodych ludzi (i nie tylko)

Happy New Year. I agree this is a great track and I loved it but… as I was listening, I got ‘Fulenn’ vibes. The studio of Fulenn was also terrific but the execution left a lot to be desired. If this goes, the TVP delegation would usefully look at that entry and take note. After all, ‘ those who refuse to learn the lessons of the past are doomed to repeat them.’
No, there is no Polish language there. These are Slavic agmas (words of power): Jarga, Drago, Wese, Trado, Istra, Wejar, Valve, Ladodeja ;)

I hope they won't waste money on preseleccion, they will make an internal selection. Doda is too interested (I think I just want to promote song Mama), Luna, Marcin Maciejczak or Jan Górka (winner The voice of Poland, ballada)...

TVP Polonia is a sub channel of TVP's broadcast lineup. You are right that there's currently a bit of a mess in regards to media mostly because people who were kicked out are partially occupying the infrastructure as previous government officials aren't letting go of their propaganda tube easily. Currently rebuilding of public media is slow but it's unknown how things will turn.
There is no Polish language in the song - some proto-slavic chants only but she does folk themes most of her 25+year career so it's expected for her to use them. She's done songs in Yiddish so very striking oriental themes integrated into pre-WWII feel of the Jewish population and customs. Also she usually is dynamic on her dedicated concerts where she's being extremely active whilst singing and she's got the composture covered.
Live version is even better than studio version
The "cz" in "Steczkowska" is like the "cz" in "Czechia", so "Stetchkofska" or something like that. ;)

Have you reacted to her 1995 entry Sama? It's one of my favorites and I believe the most underrated entry in the history of the contest. If Poland decides to send her, all of my 20 votes are going for her just for what they did to her in 1995. I won't care about the other songs. And she is such an amazing performer. You should also check out the New Year's Eve live performance of the song.

The non-English words are apparently slavic words of power. As for TVP, I don't know what's going on anymore. The last I heard was that the minister of culture decided to dissolve it and presumably create a new company/legal entity. It's a whole mess.

I'm not sure I really like this song.
I mean, it's perfect as a background music, even as a title track for some fantasy series, but as self-sufficient solo for ESC? I miss something.
With that, Justyna is a striking woman with a great stage presence and she could do very well.
Maybe I didn't get the winner vibe here, but a solid top 10 for sure.

This is not for me. I like the vocal acrobatics in the last part which remind me of her 1995 entry, and the flute is nice. But tbh when that part comes I've already tuned out because the rest of the song is, frankly, ridiculous. Well lots of opportunities for TVP to practice their Windows Movie Maker skills again I guess

You're right, the chorus is a tad weaker than the verse. If the verse draws you in musically they have to make sure the chorus does it visually, and then I can see a very strong result. I loved her every in 1995, so I would LOVE to see this at Eurovision. Would she be the oldest female to ever win?

You know we Poles love to criticise 😅 There's nothing wrong with her English imo
her accent is noticeable, but an accent isn't bad, in fact her accent is quite pretty and adds to the flavour of her song. the lyrics feel slightly strange, but the overall feeling of the song makes everything work
I think it's great for Poland and much better than Blanka! Justyna is a great vocalist and the song has the spirit of Eurovision, Poland has all chances to get into the top-15 and maybe even top-10. I really like the non-English part! But the English part is the weak part of this song, I think it would sound better in Polish. And for me, other negative moment is that this song was clearly written specifically for Eurovision and is even inspired by Gladiator, which was successful last year even without participating. Unlike Jann Justyna cooperates with TVP and she is not a man in crop top, so I see no obstacles for homophobic and corrupt TVP to choose her. Anyways this time they will have better song.
There has been change in power in Poland, and the TVP is currently in the state of being separated from the former ruling party. There is a huge legal mess about it, so the minister of culture decided to officially put the broadcaster in the state of liquidation - there were competing bodies appointing TVP presidents (one of them newly created by and fully controlled by PiS, and deemed unconstitutional by the Constitutional Tribunal - before falling victim to PiS control itself), so the minister used the liquidation to clear up the legal mess, as a company in liquidation gets a commissar appointed by court.
As for Steczkowska - I do not think she got inspired by Jann. She is a huge name in Polish music industry since the 1990s. She is known for her broad musical inspirations and variety of arrangements, and she always had a soft spot for moody and mystical (check for example her 1996 hit "Grawitacja" to get a taste). Granted, in the recent years she did more mainstream pop, but she never fully gave up on the former.
@@berlineczka , will changes in the broadcaster happen so quickly? And will nepotism disappear after that? Although this nepotism is probably beneficial this time, because Justyna really has a song worthy of Eurovision, although she also has good chances in a fair national selection.
@@irinapilipchuk7479 Well, the take over has already taken place, now it is more cleaning the place. People are being sacked (or leave on their own), especially the most obvious propagandists. But the president (from PiS) just vetoed a bill giving TVP some additional money, so the situation is not easy. ESC is not the first thing on everyone's mind.
As for nepotism - hard to say. It will likely not be so obnoxious as it was under PiS, but I cannot say if it will be eradicated completely. However, in case of Steczkowska, who is an established artist in Poland, and whose song is widely considered to be good enough to go to Eurovision (and her great vocal abilities and showmanship a guarantee for quality entry), I do not thing nepotism would be necessary either way.
