    That's an impressive study because even 2% is seen as good when it comes to studies like that,
    but 25%, that's off the charts

    80% of heart attack patients have "normal" cholesterol. Most heart patients are pre or full diabetic. High blood sugar causes heart disease. People who live long have high cholesterol.

      Agree 100%. Big Pharma loves doctors like this. Reduce all your drugs, majority not needed, diet can correct problems.

      Like I said, on the video, diet is always the best practice. The problem is, I’ve worked in hospitals for years, and people do not take care of themselves, no matter how many times you tell them what they should be doing.

      @@Pharmacist_Michael Ancel Keys had a study in Minnesota in the 70s of 9000 patients and the group was divided into 2 groups 4500 each group. One group was given a corn oil diet and the other was given a saturated fat diet. The idea was that a corn oil diet would lower cholesterol and it did, the other group was given a saturated fat diet. That group did lower cholesterol but still averaged 220. This report was not published for 16 years and they find that the lower cholesterol the heart attack rate increased by 22 percent for every 30 points of lower cholesterol and a side effect of higher cancer in the corn oil group.

    I’ve researched alot. I don’t believe that study is accurate. Pravastatin and Crestor are going to have the least side effects for most people.

    • @Pharmacist_Michael
      @Pharmacist_Michael  Před měsícem +1

      Actually, that isn’t true because Crestor is a high intensity statin so it is definitely gonna have more side effects.

    I had a MCI 2 weeks ago (blood clot and given 1 stent). I'm a 76YO female with an LDL of 79 and a LDL/HDL ratio of 1.5 with total cholesterol of 206. These numbers, it seems, do not indicate a need for a statin. However, I was prescribed a statin (40mg atorvastatin) and, of course, I'm afraid not to take it even if it seems unnecessary. My lifestyle is good and eat a modified Mediterranean diet. I eat at home, am not overweight, non-diabetic, and never smoked. However, I do have mild, well-controlled hypertension. Wouldn't the platelet reducer (Plavix) and blood thinner be enough?

    • @Pharmacist_Michael
      @Pharmacist_Michael  Před rokem

      Do you have any side effects from it? Your numbers aren’t bad. I would ask for pravastatin or possibly if you can just skip it.

    The standard American diet brings on type 2 diabetes. Obesity. Insulin resistance. CVD. Correct the diet, you would never need a statin. The 1st three things I listed bring on the problems.

    • @Pharmacist_Michael
      @Pharmacist_Michael  Před rokem

      That is true in many cases. Try to get people to eat correctly though. Most would rather take a pill?
