  • Nike (NYSE: NKE) is one of the best-known athletic companies in the world and it's been a huge winner for investors. But On Holding (NYSE: ONON) is growing faster and has better margins. In this video, Travis Hoium compares the two companies and shows why On Holding may be the best buy in athletics right now.

I took a look at ONON recently and decided to pass. I continue to keep it on my watchlist. If my growth portfolio wasn't so concentrated maybe it would have made it. I know people really like the product and the growth is compelling. I guess what made the difference for me was that they are from the EU and apart from HSY, I've never had success in non-US listers. Additionally, I remember the years UA was growing but the stock went nowhere. It may be that the sneaker startup phase provides some buzz but quickly dies out. I've seen so many shoe brands get hyped only to die off after a few years. The shoe brand Hoka is a similar upstart that is owned by DECK and has similar if not better performance with much less volatility (depending on the time series).

You can find a million and more tiny young companies that have staggering growth numbers, but it's easy to forget that growing a small company is a lot easier than growing a large company. If I sell my first pair of shoes for $150 on one day, and continue to sell 8 more pairs the following day, that's a 700% increase from day to day. But you really only sold 9 pairs.

I’m very bullish ONON . Their shoes give a premium feeling that no other shoes give. So I bet as iPhones of sport shoes market .

Stylish people wear On but it hasn't hit the kids yet. Once that happens, then on will take off. Also, Nike has gone so woke that the symbol gives me the creeps. In fact, my daughter wanted air Jordans and if it were any other brand i would have bought them for her... in this case told her they were too expensive but the real reason was my displeasure with the brand. I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way and surprised they have not yet put a Hamas leader on their billboard.
