    Tim Foust (Home Free) has hit the “lowest” note between he, Avi Kaplan and our man Geoff. But…that note was done through a “growl”. Geoff has the lowest note truly “sung” in a chest voice. Avi and Tim…my hat’s off to them, but neither one can touch Geoff overall. Tim, I think, also has the highest falsetto, giving him a 5+ octave range. Geoff is right at 5 octaves, Avi is CD a couple of notes away from 5

  • @DavideBaroni
    @DavideBaroni Před 2 lety +45

    "We don't talk about Bruno" is from the latest animated movie from Disney, "Encanto". And it's a great rendition, which you would IMHO appreciate much more knowing the original version. It shows their humorous and self-ironic side as well as their vocal and musical skills. 🙂
    As you like Geoff's voice so much (the bass singer, you know... 😉), one thing you should check is his solo channel here on CZcams. You would see many different songs, and the last, "Way down" (a cover of Elvis Presley's song), shows a very nice humour and self irony as well... Beside offering him the chance of singing WAAAAY DOWN (a clear C1 in chest voice: literally the first key of the piano). But you just MUST watch his "Far over the misty mountains cold" (from "The Hobbit") before watching "Way down". You'll understand why when you'll let "Way down" run until the Patreon list 😁.
    There are so many other songs from both Voiceplay and Geoff's "solo" channel that could be suggested. "Queen in 5 minutes", for example... Or "Hoist the colours" from Pirates of Caribbean III. Or their rendition of "Dream on" by Aerosmith, or "Enemy" and "Warriors" by Imagine Dragons, or so many others. But why don't you just explore their rabbit hole by instinct, and see what it brings to you? 🙂
    Always enjoy your reactions. And I love this "calmer" tone you had this time. It sounded like you were "letting the feelings get across you", if I can say so. You seemed to be more... "Aware"? Maybe "less surprised and more aware", yes. Or maybe I'm wrong. But it gave me a very nice feeling. 🙂
    Can't wait to see you dig deeper into this endless rabbit hole. 🙂🙂

Do the movie original first to give you some degree of context. (You still won't understand everything without seeing the movie, also recommended.) One of the things about VoicePLay is the brilliant arrnagements. all the amazing chord structures. Of course they tend to be musicians too. Geoff plays piano but clearly knows how to be a bass guitar, Layne and J.None both play violin, (see their Warriors) not sure about Eli but Earl plays brass - maybe trumpet? Can't remember offhand. So they know music, and it helps a lot. I don't know why people say Tim Faust is lower than Geoff here. I don't think he is. The Home Free fans like to argue but really Tim and Geoff have a very similar range, but to me Geoff has the smoothest tone which makes it sound richer. Most people comment on his smooth as butter tone. Bruno is a good one but so is anything they do. And yes, the most fun. If you haven't seen Hoist The Colours yet, that will blow you away.

    You might also want to check Geoff's solo cover of Elvis Presley's song "Way Down" where he hits a C1 which is the lowest C on the piano and he has a lot of dance moves and humor, you won't be disappointed

    Definitely recommend "Enemy" "The Dragonborn Comes" and "We Don't Talk About Bruno" but I'm also gonna recommend one they did from the musical Fiddler on the Roof called "If I Were a Rich Man/Girl." We get to see a lot of Geoffs range in that one and it's a banger, lol.

    I really like the passion of your reactions. You would enjoy just about any song in any genre that they do. There might be one or two that are not my cup o' tea, but only because of old teen angst prejudices against the song ;). For pure fun try the Little Mermaid Medley - Eli (Ellee, the maniacal berserker in Hoist the Colours) crooning in a bowtie and shorts. And Geoff as a blue Ursula, with a riff that goes from a rock scream to the abyss. Rachel Potter is featured in that, and it is very interesting to compare her first audition on X-factor (singing Queen) to where she is now. Pretty much just throw a dart and grab one at random!

    I'm a true VP fan and love Geoff for his incredible talent. Try his Ain't No Sunshine and Down Low. He's starting to make us guess if he's going to drop that bass or hit a high belt. His tone is what I like because it's so rich and full. Tim Foust from Home Free is another amazing bass. His tone is more suited to country (just my opinion and I love country music too) but his range is also jaw dropping. Compare him singing in Brothers in Arms and then Mayday and you'll see. If you want to see what a group of basses can do check out The Bass Gang. They're really starting to impress me and are close to nudging PTX down to my 4th favorite now. Listen to Centuries by them, and to really hear a bass/tenor with a SEVEN octave range listen to Tomi P and his cover of Hellfire. All the voices in that are his and it'll blow your mind.

    That gentleman's name is Geoff Castellucci and he has his own solo channel that you will probably want to look into. His voice is beautiful no matter what range he is singing in. In my opinion he is one of the best singers ever it's not that he can sing really low and also really high it's the tone I think. His voice is so rounded and full sounding at least to me anyway.

    Definitely check out Geoff Castellucci’s (the bass) latest, Way Down. He can go lower. Misty Mountains is another good one, and 16 Tons. And Ain’t No Sunshine, and… oh, heck, go to his channel, bring up his videos list, close your eyes and scroll.
    Other basses to check out: Peter Barber just released a great one (not acapella), The Bass Gang just dropped four new ones. If you like Metal, Jonathan Young (he’s featured in one of the Bass Gang’s recent ones as well as having his own channel).

    Found your channel through this video. If you like Skyrim, you gotta react to their Dragonborn Comes cover. It is absolutely amazing. Another of their great song covers is the Halo Theme. You gotta watch it all the way through though. I'm not saying why, but watching it all the way through is important. They also had a little series where they did Aca Top Tens. Each of those has a different theme, one of them Video Games, one of them movies, there are too many to name. You asked who the bass singer was for Voiceplay, and that is Geoff Castellucci. He even has his own channel on CZcams where he does bass covers of songs. Voiceplay is absolutely amazing and I am excited to see more reactors for Voiceplay. The other bassist that you were talking about in the video is named Tim Foust and he is the bass singer for the group Home Free. Between him and Geoff, I think Tim has the lower range.

    Geoff's bass is not technically the lowest, but I personally feel he has the best tone and resonance. He has a 5 octave range although he says he is a low Baritone, naturally. He is my absolute favorite singer, performer. Check out his cover of Elvis' Way Down on his solo channel. He goes all out and you get to see a side of his personality he doesn't often show.
