As a musician I found it irksome, once upon a time; but as a drummer I worked with said, “look on it as percussion , man”. In other words; as long as they’re keeping tempo: you can play with them. I don’t mind the clapping now.

At least they are clapping on the off beat! Not the totally square "one and three" that most unnformed listeners do!
