Personally, having experienced tornadoes in the middle of the night, I wouldn’t mind having a siren right next to my house to wake me up and give warning. The two scariest tornadoes I’ve been through happened around 11:30PM and 2:30AM

they should consider how far it needs to be from occupied structures to not cause hearing damage to the residents. decibel testing before installation close to residential structures should be done so that max db at a window by a residence doesn't exceed the level at which a person might need hearing protection. when that thing goes off, they shouldnt need earplugs to leave the house!

They only sound once a month and for serious emergencies so it's not that bad. This area is in need for coverage as the nearest siren is about 2 miles away. Nobody has ever complained over where a tornado siren was placed in my county. The reason it was put there is so they could hear it incase they are in an actual tornado warning and cant hear the siren if their outside. It may vibrate that bedroom ceiling when it rotates but if it gets too loud like if they have sensitive ears they could always buy headphones and they would be prepared when ever it was activated for a test or a severe storm. Too late for all that as they took the siren for granted.

In the UK, we don't have any warning sirens apart from flood sirens and near industry and navy complexs. So whole population demands on their mobile phone: that if it works and is kept update. Apart from television and radio, that give out warnings. It would nice have a warning sirens system as back up.

So their complaining that the siren is right next to there house and saying that, oh its too close to there house, what makes you worry that its too loud, its a siren and freaking air raid. Now I'm a siren enthusiast here so when ever a siren is put in that kind of place its there for a reason, you shouldn't have any problem with the siren is sitting there for what's so ever even if its a test, it will only last for 3 minutes or less despiting the fact its being put at a little distance will fix anything? Jeez dude, give yourself a break and even if there were an real emergency that thing can or could worn you from indoor's and besides and again siren test time last for 3 minutes or less, that's not that long.

I would pay to have a 2001 in my front yard. Idc how loud it is and its a true FACT that and you chose to put her bedroom there next to the siren. YOU CHOSE TO PUT HER BEDROOM THERE. even if she chose herself, its still a dumb thing to complain about had you let her choose or chose for her. Even if it was there before, YOU CHOSE TO MOVE INTO THAT HOUSE. NOBODY CHOOSES WHERE YOU LIVE. so like, if you’re gonna complain about the noise, and where you put your daughter’s bedroom, the closest one to the siren, well, its mostly your fault. nobody chose the bedroom unless your daughter chose it herself, but if you knew, which you should have already known the first DAY you moved in that the siren was towering over your driveway because of how tall it is and yet you are “oblivious” to it acting like its a ghost and then when it goes off you wanna complain. i dont care how loud it is cause i actually heard a 2001 in alert mode a couple weeks ago myself, and ive heard tons of train horns and yeah they’re loud and if thats what bothers you thats ok, i hear loud noises all the time but once again she LITERALLY chose to put her daughter’s bedroom in there, and ive also seen people complaining about train horns blaring in quiet zones, the same thing in this scenario. the person telling the news reporter about how loud the train is mentioned her daughter’s bedroom, and what do you know?
its the closest to the tracks.
and once again as you can see by my pfp, i hear train horns all the time and they’re loud of course but if you get used to it they’re not loud to you at all even without noise canceling headphones, and if im making this long “essay” for nothing, so what? This person clearly wants to complain and try to make them do something. Oh well just wait until an EF-5 hits your home and you dont have any siren near you. then youll be sorry you ever contacted the news.
and dont be an idiot like this person.

Hearing loss from a 2001-130 sounds idiotic. Even the SRN wouldnt do that as itd 127DB@100FT It's an alert given by Federal Signal (FS) that it could cause permanent HEARING damage, but they're not even that loud -- they carry about 1.850 miles away with 130DB@100FT.
