How to set up and use Google Pay

- Google Pay is a digital wallet tied to your Google account. You can use it to send or request money with friends (kind of like Venmo), use it in apps like Caviar to pay for things and use it at a store or restaurant with an Android phone or on a watch running Wear OS. But perhaps the real reason to use Google Pay is that it's faster and more secure than using a physical debit or credit card.
Replacing Android Pay and Google Wallet in 2018, Google Pay works without sending stores and restaurants your actual card numbers. Essentially, your credit and debit card information is securely stored on Google's servers, and instead of transmitting your card's numbers, Google Pay uses a token called a virtual account number as a stand-in.

Wil H Why ? They do the exact same, except that Apple Pay can only send money to iOS and can only work online in Safari.

On the bright side, none of google's services store the full number locally. No one can see the full number or cvv, not even you.

@@pdswrld5200 That way, even if your account gets hacked or your phone stolen, you can be sure no one sees or gets access to your money. Although if your account gets hacked, you have bigger problems to solve. :)

@@luckyogedegbe4776 yeah, it’s in the uk and other countries. if you have a Samsung, use Samsung pay becuase it works on any card reader in the world.

Thank you! I enjoyed your video. Question..there are some stores that require a PIN number (some don't). I can't figure out how or where to add that pin. Note, I did add a pin but it doesn't work when i'm purchasing an item from a store. So far I've only been able to use it at food places. Any suggestions?

I don't like it either. Google once was an ethical company that used to say "do no evil". Today, Google gives me creeps. We can only hope there will be no issues or nasty surprises.

@@dbe_manny This is not about security. We are talking about ethics. About how far can we be certain Google is to be trusted with our privacy etc. Some of their terms sound rather....unsettling to say the least.

Apple Pay since day one. I think Samsung pay is more versatile with the mst, everybody should get in on this trend.
In Sweden, Samsung removed the MST function in 2019. Only NFC now.
No way on mst anymore but yes on nfc. Mst works nowhere around me.
Samsung pay got cash back and discount on gift cards here in US
They're starting to phase out MST unfortunately. It's not on the S21. Basically no reason to use it over Google Pay now :(

I've been using my Google pay for the past few months and I love it. Wishing it co be used to get money
You can also get money from any 🏧 using Google Pay (make sure your debit card is set as the default for sending/receiving payments & cash withdrawals). Just tap your phone against the reader on the 🏧 (Google Pay will open automatically) and just follow the instructions on the 🏧 screen (you can also get cash back at any store when making purchases using Google Pay) 🙂🙂🙂

@@pdswrld5200 Yes, but you still must have either a credit, debit, gift or reward card to use Google Pay. Once you've set up & linked your card to Google Pay, you can start using it immediately 🙂🙂🙂

@@luckyogedegbe4776 Every country outside the US have the global/international debit/credit cards, mainly with the VISA or MasterCard symbol on them. You should be able to get one 🙂

When completing the application, on terms and conditions, GP mentions a service charge. What is the charge?
Its a small charge they do to make sure the account is real. They say they decline the payment anyway once you confirm everything so you are not actually being charged.

I’m a beginner to GP. I have a Nokia 5 with NFC that has Google Pay installed (no idea if this is all I need to operate GP). I was able to add a Visa credit through my Nokia phone and a Visa debit card from my PC. Later on, I got a welcome email saying to download the application. I’m a little confused, I thought the application was installed in my Nokia. Do I need to download the application from GP on my PC and phone? I like the card nickname feature; do I need the GP application to use this feature?

I don't want to pay with my Google Wallet I want to receive a payment via QR code on my phone. is that feature available. if so how do I do that cuz I can't find anything on Google pay that will allow me to create a QR code to receive payment into my wallet from my screen of my Android phone. although some of the Google searches say it's possible so it's really confusing I'm sorry. I'm actually usually pretty good at this kind of stuff.

Electric video that's pretty good I was specifically looking to see if Google pay did mobile bank deposit like I wanted to deposit a check and in my Google pay account but I didn't know if they could do that or not I didn't see anything on there that would leave me to believe that they do do that sometimes I do side jobs and I get moneys and it would be nice to throw it on my Google pay instead of having a transfer it from an actual bank account but hey I guess Google pay already does enough right. You know where you just take a picture of a check and it and the check is available or the money is from that check are available two days later you know

Do the Google Pay cards for like $20 and $50 ect... come with a card number and you type that in instead of your actual Debit bank card #?
I'm confused. I don't seem to have a Goole Pay app icon on my phone but I do have a Google Wallet icon. But Google Pay is listed in my settings and Google wallet seems to have one of my credit cards. The send feature is not available in the UK or other EU countries. Not surprised though, as Google services and products are mostly for Americans

Yeah ,but when you pay with a card you run the chip or swipe it thru the machine. Thats where the wi-fi comes in, other wise it has no road to travel .

I don't know when this was posted. But my Google pay so far is not resembling what's in this video at all. Hoping you post an update. Or maybe it's just my phone I don't know. I'll continue searching elsewhere for now. I haven't used mine yet and my concern is going into the store and holding the lineup since I don't really know what I'm doing.
