    The height ajustment might seem like a minor thing but if you're adding a feature to a monitor, don't half-ass it. My $180 Dell S2419HGF is height ajustable and will stay in the position I set it to without issue. Got to wonder how this got through development without anyone raising a flag about the height ajustability.

    the thing is that the va pannel has much more motion blur than you think even though it has a .5 pixel response time if you want more detail about it go to dawid does tech stuff were he uses this monitor and shows how much worse it is compared to an ips

    • @TheJjjoj
      @TheJjjoj Před rokem +4

      Motion blur is an issue that comes from pairing an underpowered backplane with a particular display type. It's not a panel or panel type issue. These companies keep trying to use cheaper backplanes with VA panels, which require at least LTPO backplanes in order to be effectively driven. "VA has more motion blur than IPS" is both inaccurate and frustrating because it's such misinformation. However, VA panel based monitors typically do suffer more motion blur, because, again, trying to cheap out on the backplane.

    • @KissesLoveKawaii
      @KissesLoveKawaii Před rokem +7

      @@TheJjjoj this is all false and misinformation btw. VA does have more blur than ips, THAT'S why majority of high-high end monitor is a IPS. IPS renders motion better and it's a fact.

    • @TheJjjoj
      @TheJjjoj Před rokem +7

      @@KissesLoveKawaiiYou are incorrect. That's not how these technologies work. Motion is a matter of pixel transition. The backplane of a display drives the pixels by sending specfic current to switch the subpixels into an on or off stste. Any pixel transition requires an adjustment to the amount of current. On the whole, TN panels are the easiest to drive, then IPS, then VA, then OLED. TN panels can be paired with the cheapest A-si backplane and still have solid motion performance. IGZO backplanes were developed specifically for IPS because of the cost and power inefficiency of LTPS backplanes. They meet the required current capabilities of high refresh rate IPS displays. LTPO was developed as a lower power draw alternative to LTPS for OLED displays but they are also ideal for VA panels. A good example of a VA panel that uses a higher end backplane is samsung's oddyssey neo g7. It has some of fastest response times and least motion blur on the market yet uses a VA panel.

    The HDR 400 standard calls for true 8-bit color channels, which is what we expect from SDR monitors.
    If you want 10-bit color channels (actual HDR), then you need to move up to HDR 600. That said, some HDR 600 (and higher) monitors that have 60+ Hz refresh rates, will fall back to 8-bit color channels when set to more than 60 Hz. When the monitor falls back 8-bit color channels, it stops being HDR 600 (or higher) compliant.
    Edit: The HDR 400 spec calls for 8-bit color channels. That means that a monitor must have at LEAST 8 bits per color channel. HDR 600 and above calls for 10-bit color channels. One of the great things about HDR content is the reduction of color banding due to the larger color range that's only possible because it's using more bits per color. HDR 400 monitors do NOT guarantee 10-bit color channels. If you find an HDR 400 monitor that does proper 10-bit, then consider that to be a nice bonus because that monitor wasn't required to do so when the only thing you are told is that it's HDR 400 compliant.

    I appreciate the screen shots of actual video and RGB. Unfortunately I didn't see any video that I would say is good. Usually we hear of NITS and how bright the monitor display is. It wasn't very White or Bright. Thanks for the review, I am considering a monitor in this size and curvature.

    This is why I prefer Gamers Nexus reviews of PC oriented products, they don't do fluff pieces on overpriced PC products and they'll dock it for it's price AND performance. They have a firmer grasp of what the average consumer is willing to spend and expect, this isn't that at all. TVs are quickly making gaming monitors obsolete in both performance and price, not to mention real estate with the sizes you can get. For the same price or a little more, I can get a TV for 55in that has more features and better specs aside from input latency and a lower refresh rate. I'd rather compromise there than for the few benefits I get with a monitor like this that offers far less for my money.

But the GM34-CWQ however does have the fill screen option which is actually what I'm looking for for my Xbox 360 ultrawide movies. @11:15 I'm a professional what it comes to computers, AV-devices and upkeep/maintenance of them and I'm "way old" from the CRT days. The day I learned that MONITORS need Firmware updates (when trying to figure out an issue with clients streaming studio setup like 3 years ago) I wen't like "oh no... oh well... that's better than having to live with it for the rest of the products life if it's buggy from the factory" and I took that immediately into my checklist when receiving monitors or installing them... check the firmware and update.
    It's equivalent to "always update bios when installing new PC" would be to anyone else as well. just a thing you do because it'll reduce the possible issues you'll have.

    Sad story time:
    I am having a bit of a PC gaming return since I bought a 3060 a few months ago and now I have been buying peripherals and accesories to return to PC gaming. I have a 29" 1080p ultrawide monitor that I've used for a few years and it's fine. I like the ultrawideness of it, but 1080p even for productivity is not that much workspace.
    A month ago, I went ahead and bought myself my "dream" monitor, the QD-OLED Alienware. It was on sale and I adore OLED screens, plus it has all the specs that I've been looking for in a monitor. Mainly ultrawide and high refresh rate in a big size that is still manegeable.
    I bought it directly from Dell and there was no estimated shipping date when I bought it. It's been a month, and it still hasn't shown up.
    That was entirely fine since I was not in a hurry to get it or anything. Well, at least I wasn't. My company is now offering me a job in another country, and the way that they will be sending me means that I'm not going to be able to take much of anything with me, at least at first.
    I'm leaving in a few weeks, and my monitor still hasn't arrived. I spent so much in a monitor and a GPU that I won't even be able to use at least for 6 months until I get a chance to do a full move.
    So I guess I'm in the market for a cheap PC and a cheap ultrawide when I arrive there. It just will not be my amazing shiny new QD-OLED Alienware.
