I’m so glad I clicked on this video, I really like it even though the thumbnail was trash

I started probably just a little before you but same era and oddly enough had the exact same feeling about Innova and Discraft and I'm from the great lakes region where discraft is supposed to be king. I did throw a Surge SS as one of my first bomber discs but have moved on the Wraiths. Bag the Passion on and off as well.
I hear a lot of ppl say the same thing as you about udisc but I feel like dgcoursereview was and is still fine for finding courses. It was definitely around back then but never gets any love.
    Thanks for the content!

DG Course review definitely did help a ton! Got a lot of hits from me and my family back in the day 😂
I think overall ratings and course info/layouts with modern day udisc make it a great time to be a disc golfer now though.

@ursadg Agree with all that except the ratings. Everything on udisc is 4 stars and above! There's an awful church course near me that is literally 9 baskets in an open field and it's 3.9 on udisc and appropriately a 1.3 on dgcoursereview.

I used to avoid Discraft as well…..then I threw a zone and a buzzz. The only two I’ve ever thrown and I bag them both.

hard to deny how good the zone is i’ll always give em that

This guy knows what he’s talking about. My first “distance” drivers were crazy flippy, and all I did was throw on massive amounts of hyzer. When I tried to throw a power shot it was always on crazy hyzer.

Seconding the not throwing only understable stuff. I started on really flippy discs and have a 20 degree hyzer as my current stock shot. Lotsa re-learning to do.

doesn’t get as much talk as the super overstable but can definitely still cause issues!

I got into the game because a friend gave me 3 discs - 2 of them Innova, 1 of them Discraft. I lost the Buzzz almost immediately and was given more Innova discs. I pretty quickly had a full lunchbox bag of Innova discs, and I ended up just filling up one of those cheap $20 backpacks with Innova Discs. I eventually switched to open bags, but there's so much Innova out there - even as found discs over time - that it's just too easy to get stuck to that brand.

definitely the best to be stuck in IMO, they're the standard for a reason and have every slot well covered

    A couple insights from me:
Once you get hooked on disc golf, it's WAY TOO EASY to keep buying and buying and buying discs. I personally would have been much better served sticking to a couple putters, a couple mids, and a couple fairway drivers starting out. That's actually what I bag now.
On that same note - online retailers are fantastic but there's no substitute for feeling a disc in your hand to decide whether or not it's for you. This is ESPECIALLY true for putters. If you're considering a new mold, try to get your hands on it before you buy.

you know what they say, the discs start coming and they don’t stop coming

Throw mids and putters off the tee.
