      as for me, i sit on my chair, laptop ready on my desk, and I open PIU charts I want on youtube. Then you practice by stomping your floor while sitting and watching the chart on youtube. this might sound silly but Ive been doing this for over a year (im currently playing S19-D18) and i feel that this has improved my gameplay in some way.

    Over the past few months, I've been coming back to this video again and again to remind myself of how I can improve. I have found from applying your tips on cheating crossovers and bracket footswitching a significant improvement in my footwork, stamina, and scores on S18+ charts.
    I got my first SSS on a 19 with Twist of Fate back in August 2019 and I just got my first SSS on a 20 with We Got 2 Know last week.
    If it wasn't for watching your videos, I would continue to struggle playing 18s and 19s back to back. Thank you for your amazing content and helpful videos!! ✌🏼

      @@AuGAlaN Keep trying! I remember struggling on just s5 charts and I kept playing songs I liked and gradually got better. You have to watch charts on youtube and play the game in your head and with your feet, even while sitting on the computer. They have lots of resources to study. PIUcenter is also a really good study tool.
      Play many different songs to become familiar with different patterns, and don't try to skip too far up in levels. It's all muscle memory and knowing the songs you are playing really helps. Work on stretching and flexibility also, that helps a lot.
      You got this!

  • @niji_k
    @niji_k Před 4 lety +6

    The Bracket Footswitching, in fact, is a widely used technique on rhythm games and its' communities,
    and not only in PIU but also games like DDR, SDVX, IIDX and so on.
    They even have a word for that:
    Japanese players use あんみつ(餡蜜, Anmitsu), named after one of the earliest user of this technique, which was used for clearing "Ska a go go" from IIDX.
    Chinese players use 馅蜜(read "xiànmì"; same kanji from the Japanese one).
    Korean players use 뭉개기(to crush/ to squash: from "crushing" multiple notes and treating them as one single note)
    or 안미츠(transliteration from the Japanese one).
    Seems like they use 'Anmitsu' for communities and players of which uses English.
    Just wanted to point that there's actually a lot of people who use that technique, and not gonna lie; these tricks are just pure golden.
    Thanks for uploading such a nice video!

    I'd love some tips on using your tips and heels to play. I'm currently kind of stuck on S17 because I use my entire front ball of my foot for every note meaning my entire leg needs to move to do basically everything. This is n't a problem for most 17s but once I tried some 18s and the gaps between notes in runs got shorter and I had to hit them faster, I'm finding myself having trouble moving my legs fast enough. Or for example the final section of Travel to the Future S17 when you alternate front to back notes over and over, it's hard to move my legs that much distance in that short amount of time. I'm trying to learn to use my heels and toes to conserve energy and shorten distance, but it's a trial by fire kind of thing

    • @ThePondermatic
      @ThePondermatic Před 5 lety +12

      The trick to learning a new form like this is to go back to easy charts and force yourself to use the form until it feels natural, and then go back up in difficulty. I think you know what hitting panels with your heels looks like, you just need to get used to doing it!
      I suggest taking a play session or two and dropping down to the S10-S12 range, where everything is 8th note runs. Force yourself to hit bottom arrows with your heels and top arrows with your toes until it starts to feel natural and you don't miss many arrows by mistake. Then, move up through 13, 14, 15, and 16s until you're back up to speed with the new technique.
      Going back to easier charts like this can be a drag, but heel/toe form isn't that difficult to pick up, so there's a good chance you'll be done practicing it after just a few hours of play. It's unlikely you'll be stuck in easier charts for weeks, just a couple days.

      I hate to agree, but what he said. It's just building up stamina at that point, and with enough of it and foot speed, you can probably power through a few 10s that otherwise you couldn't without tech.
      Don't feel bad, I just cleared my first 10 and 11 today, they weren't pretty, and I'm wiped out. I'm still trying to read crossovers since I usually play the other panel stomping rhythm game and I barely got those down on a good day.
      If you're not me and using these games to cheat cardio, I would sincerely suggest proper cardio. While I'm almost at the point where I was when I stopped playing these games, the severe lack of it over the years has really turned me into a sopping wet mass of sweat and drool at the end. A HIIT routine would probably do wonders.

    You forgot one important part about Note, then hold. Some charts (Shub S19 being a good example and Interference S18) have holds that you are required to tap the start of. Similarly, Vacuum S18(?) has brackets at the end after the drills. The first set you can hold, the second you can't. But both sets of brackets look like normal brackets.

And paradoxically, I've found that trying to relax my body makes it easier to move quickly enough for fast trills than tensing up to try to give it my all.
