- We hiked the Manitou Incline and the long hike back down! The Manitou Incline is located in Manitou Springs Colorado which is just outside of Colorado Springs.
The Manitou Incline is 2744 steps and a 2000 ft elevation gain! In this video you will hear me huffing and puffing. I came from Fort Worth Texas which is only 500 ft above sea level. The Manitou Incline starts at over 7000 feet above sea level and ends over 9000 feet above sea level. This is hard if you are not used to elevation which I was not! At the top of the Incline there were some very friendly chipmunks that we got to feed trail mix. Lots of fun!
Once you reach the top of the Incline you can go back down the stairs or take a long hike on a connector trail to the Barr Trail which takes you back to the parking lot. The Barr trail is the trail that will take you to the top of Pikes Peak. The total length of the hike back down was about 4 miles. It was a very pretty hike and I suggest taking it.
If you are planning to try this hike for yourself you will need a reservation! The reservations are free and you can get one here:

The more videos I watch about the incline, the more excited I get about trying it.

Wow. You were incredible to watch!
It’s not a just a boulder, it’s a rock! The pioneers used to drive these babies for miles.! 🤣🤣
😂🤣😂
Was first just to take supplies up the mountain ...then was a train to carry tourists up....originally when it was abandoned it was off limits...but so many climbed it that the town of Colorado Springs fixed it up
