The basics of putting

- There are so many different ways to putt but I guess there are some Basics in terms of grip, ballposition and adressposition which can certainly help you to get a better stroke done.
I am explaining neutral positions, so of course there can be different handpositions like cross-handed, what I like doing too.
Just watch it and let me know how you found a good way to putt!

Martina - what a great, simple way to explain almost everything about putting in a few minutes! I agree, if we use our “normal” grip - which is designed to help a much bigger arc there could always be a slight pull! So good - hope we can get you to visit Italy(more important) and England next spring

Went out with my course pro yesterday. I got on the green in 1 on 2 par 3s and in 2 on 2 par 4s. My putting let me down. Just watched your video and have been practising. So well explained feel more confident for the next time I go out with the Pro. Thanks so much.

I have a toe down putter. I thought it weird when I had a little arc that the putt was straighter. But I still fought to keep the straight back straight through stroke because I thought it was correct. I have never seen this explained in all of the putting instruction I’ve watched! Thanks for this basic but important putting instruction!
There is always an arc in putting as we never stand 90 degrees bent over the ball. For me it feels more arc once I am more upright and if I am more bent over, it feels a bit straighter. Just try what works best for you!

I lived in Perlacher Forest in Military Housing in the 70's. My father was stationed there. I'm half German I was born in Kassel.And I own a Odyssey white hot putter.@@martina_eberl_coaching_en

Important Putting video wealth of points. It would be great to have a video on how to read the greens I find it very difficult to understand which direction to Put. Sometimes there are breaks and 2 breaks

Is the grip pressure very light. Like holding a bird? Thank you for your videos they are very informative and well done.
I think its a bit to easy. Grip it like you feel like and your wrists still can be involved for a little bit. Not much, but if the tension is too high, there is no touch!
The arc of the putter head only appears on the ground as an illusion when in fact the arc is on the Face of the plane. All swings are three dimensional including that of the putter. The putter works on the incline so shaft control imperative. Keeping the shaft on plane is imperative.

What kind of grip do you recommend for toe down putter?
I don't have an arc when I putt,keep mine as low to the green, slightly push it..

Actually a mirror is super good. My Puttingcoach Robert Hamster developed a really good one. Check it out on www.golfhamster.de Other than that, carry plenty tees in your Golfbag, set drills around the whole etc. I ll make a special video about it... Filming next week!

What about the long or belly putter?
I have no experience in teaching this. I used to play a belly putter in 2008 and I loved it. But then the idea got banned unfortunately by not having bodycontact with the club anymore....

Which of your eyes is your dominent eye? For me, mine is my right eye and my putting improved when I moved the ball back to under my right eye. I am a left-handed person that plays golf right-handed so I am prob weird!
Not weird at all - funny wise I have a few students of your kind. Its just important to ask important questions when you are putting or swinging the club like with which eye or arm you are managing certain movements.... My eye is the right eye as well...
