I usually enjoy the high complexity characters regardless of power level, but this convinced me to get this box to teach new players more effectively (sorry to my sister, you deserved better than playing Spiderman against Huntress).
After trying it myself: I can tell it's not remotely competitive, but my opponent was 20 life up and I chained Crit Bash into Rage into 5 die basic, and watching the panic as their sure win was now looking tenuous was priceless. I still lost that game as I was still at 10 and I wiffed my defence, but wild moments like that can really get a game like Dice Throne to stick with you.

Thanks for sharing that story. I love hearing about wild DT games with huge big swings.
You're absolutely right about these big moments that make people go "oooh!" being the magic that keeps us coming back to DT.

Just came across your channel. Love what you do with these analyses. Can't wait for more, to see how we both look at these characters.
Plus, Barbarian is an awesome partner for Teams and DTA. Paladin and him were crazy good. Gave him Crit and accuracy, and then he pulled Reckless 20 on the Mad King which was Epic.

More are on the way. Vampire is next. But got delayed. Should be out before the end of the month.
I completely agree with you about Barb. I think, once I finish the hero series, I want to do a DTA analysis for each hero. Not sure how that will be formated, but I'll figure that out once I get there.
      Glad you liked video!

Still watching and liking what I see so far, but thought I'd comment on a niche use for Fortitude. When playing free-for-all, it can be very useful to have your health at a sightly higher (but not the highest!) because of the bonus card draw for attacking the health leader.
If you don't need the card, but would definitely put yourself as the health leader if you hit someone with a strong attack, getting a little bit of health back while setting up your opponent to take your enemy's next action can be good.
But, as you said: "corner-case play".

Hey this is a really good point. In my analysis I tend to only think about 1v1 casual and 1v1 tournament play. But there's also DTA and, OF COURSE, multiplayer.
My playgroup does team and FFA games pretty often. I can't believe I haven't thought to include comments on these other game modes in this series before.
      Good call!

So it sounds like you're saying Barbarian's unique cards are sells except for his Thick Skin2 and Reckless 2. I like Barbarian because it is so fun to chase those high damage attacks, and I like to upgrade his abilities generally, but you make good points - it would be so much more powerful to have more CP to manipulate his dice to get high damage when and if those cards make it to my hand. I never thought of cards, even free ones, as "wasted CP" to buy the truly important cards but you have changed my mind on this. I will try him again and adjust my strategy accordingly and see how it goes!
Also I see what you mean about his Fortitude ability, it does help when I would have nothing else but it can feel like a wasted turn. It sounds like you believe 1v.1 it is generally better for Barbarian to focus on offense and not be concerned with regaining health?
I really like the theme of the Barbarian, though most of his artwork I think looks overly goofy and not like a serious character, not "cool" like most other characters (Thief, Monk, etc.), I wish he had more visually in common with Schwarzenegger's Conan, and his other weapons (ax, hammer) were used on the dice besides the common sword. And I would like him to have more tricks, just a bit more depth and better character upgrades then he currently does for us who genuinely enjoy the theme of a huge barbarian but want to play him at higher levels.
Thank you for the video and for the depth that you went into explaining your strategies and point of view!

Happy it was useful for you!
And yes, I do generally sell a lot of this Hero's upgrades in favor of investing that CP into forcing my dice to cooperate. However, if you enjoy using some of those upgrades, don't feel obligated to change.
I tend to take the outlook of a "tournament player" in these videos. I'm looking for the best way to win games, and a lot of my commentary has that focus. This is how I tend to engage with games. I love the puzzle of finding the best ways to win. I love the pressure of a tournament.
I also know that not everyone engages with games in that same way. So if you're doing something that is fun for you, then you are doing it right. No matter what any youtubers have to say.
I completely agre with you about the Barb having a delightful goofiness to him. If there was a DT character who personified the "Leeeeeeeeroy Jeeeeeeeenkiiins" meme, it's totally this guy.
