The story of the IS tank family started in 1942, when a team of armor design engineers in Chelyabinsk began to work on a new heavy tank. The idea was to create a vehicle boasting both the mobility of a medium tank and the firepower of a heavy tank.

Correct me if Iâm wrong but from what Iâve seen the company That made the IS series continues making heavy tanks for the Soviet Union but they had to rename one of their tank T-10M because Stalin died, itâs originally named IS-8 and IS-9 and the name of IS-10 was accepted in 1952
T10 is very old now and now the company would build mbts probably now

But that would be a great WT irony. A tank that got nerfed by BR raise back in the days now have been hit by the powercreep..
My 7.3 experience is IS-6 spam. I kill nearly if not all with my Jagdtiger. I simply shoot by the gun. Itâs a 1 shot kill

An interesting piece of info for you guys here. During the tender, the IS7 was rejected due to its weight (Nearly 70 tonnes as you said) with the Russian government saying production tanks could not be over 45. but some some sources actually suggest that this wasn't the case. its thought that the IS7 actually weighed upward of 80 tonnes, possibly 90! and that the specifications were reduced to around 65 to give it a feasible chance at going into production... sadly (or gladly, depending) this didn't work
I treat the IS2 as a tank destroyer with a turret, due to the slow turret traverse

My is-2 122mm gun is too weak it can't one shot a tiger 2 p from the frontal upper glacial plate.

ah yes the stock br-471 shell, also known as the most bouncy in game shell perfectly paired with half a minute reload for certain death, also IS tanks (like all other tanks) comes equiped with no fpE or pArts to make you death easier
Fun fact:
When IS-7 was presented to Nikita Kruschev he said to the head engineer "You're fat and your tank is fat. I wont have enough steel in whole Soviet Union to build this"...and then cancelled the project.

The name was changed when Stalin died, how degenerate are WoT players these days, it said a majority of its vehicles are from the blueprints of famous designers like Krupp, Porsche, Ford, etc, while some vehicles even have 2 names instead of just 1, like the IS-8 which was renamed into the T-10M

I think the Maginot Line is my favorite map right now. Great mix of rolling hills and town so that all types of vehicles have a chance to shine.

Just picked the IS-2 . Big sister might be slow as all heck but she scares the enemy tanks to death , even if I miss .
To be honest. It's the only tank I've used in war thunder that consistently pops turrets straight up into the sky which is most satisfying . My various Abrams don't do that , even in custom matches against ww1 and ww2 tanks .

The IS-2 had a major flaw. The gun was so big that it had to be returned to a level position in order to fit the next shell into the breach after firing. So you couldn't keep your sight tracking a target if you missed the first time.
Considering that the IS-2 wasn't made to fight tanks that flaw isn't too bad
I once killed an IS-3 with an M3 GMC. So that was fun.
