The sound of an air raid siren is actually one of the scariest noises to me, it's just so ungodly unsettling.
It is in silent hill
Dittoes to you! I am only 48 years old and I obviously wasn't around during WWII. But by merely listening to this siren, it is a terrifying sound to hear. This means imminent danger is approaching. Actually, there are some tornado sirens in the Midwest that sound the same way and are just as frightening. I bet that is one sound that no one in that region never wants to hear!
I agree! There is simply no other sound like it!
it is the siren that goes off across my city as i am about to fap after no fap September... *KABOOM*
ellyosa id say its the scariest noise ever
There is no sound on this Earth that terrifies me more... Sends shivers down my spine and gives me goosebumps... It's like a death wail... I hope I'll never get to hear it in real time...
Thats what is happening in Ukraine right now.
Ukraine! Does
Ukraine heard it
It just awful whats happening in Ukraine right now. I really hope this war in Ukraine doesn't turn into ww3 😔😔
We play these during tornado warnings
This sound is so scary. I'd freak out if i actually had to hear it..
Lowri Silverwood-Owen Indeed!
me too ;-;
+Lowri Silverwood-Owen I would like to activate one when kids are entering my yard on halloween >:)
Same!😱
I am playing this for my 5 year daughter, she is reading a book about the war. This gave me chills. I can't imagine how those people must have really felt. Utterly terrifying.
The one sound that no one wants to hear for real ever again.
are you ill?
No I think 9/11 was worse, because terrorists actaully attacked the US, but I might be wrong.
No offense but I do think WW2 is much worse than 9/11.
Cyrille Yukimaru
Agreed
Emiel Booth 'again' we aren't all nearly 100 years old to be alive in ww2 to hear this and hoping to not hear it again
My dad grew up in Yugoslavia and was like 10 years old when his area was occupied. For years my brother and I were never allowed to whistle and we never knew why. He’d get so mad and upset. Then one day he told us it was because it reminded him of the sound that bombs would make as they came screaming down. He said the allies were trying to flush the Germans out and they had
No precision bombing. Just blanket bombing from what I have since learned. Can only imagine what hearing air raid sirens would be like for those that heard them live back then. Horrible
The Germans used to put whistles in bombs so when they dropped they would make the Enemy fearful
@@1603fox I did not know that. War is horrible
Eee, that's sad...
My dad always said no one wins in a war. Even the soldiers are traumatized. Hence why they had so many legions back in the day. So they could drink to forget. Many of them carried a lot of baggage when they came back but back then it wasn’t called PTSD. Men couldn’t admit they were traumatized I feel.
I am never allowed to whistle when I'm home because my neighbors doesn't want to hear it I don't know why but hopefully they didn't suffer if they were in a war zone
There are still many air raid sirens that are in place and ready to activate in the event we ever come under any kind of aerial or nuclear attack from a hostile force in various cities or locations. A rather frightening sound indeed!
They use them today in Britain for floods!
And in the US, are often used as tornado warnings.

I hear sirens like these for tornado siren testing every Wednesday, and also when there's severe weather. And every time it's the most chilling thing ever. I can't imagine hearing it in ww2.
What happens if a real thing happens on a Wed? Do you just ignore it because it's so normal? XD Asking as a Brit, we don't have anything weekly like that. Helps me keep track of the day when I'm on holiday though XD
@@pixelperfectstreamarchive7176 I still keep an eye on the weather. My phone notifies me if tornadoes or severe weather are likely. But growing up in tornado alley our real indicator is going outside and looking lol

my hometown had an air raid siren that would go off almost every day. it used to wake me up in the night when i was a kid and i'd be scared. the thing is though, I didn't know it was an air raid siren, we called it the 'fire whistle' and I thought it was for when there was a fire, but that was not the case. it was loud and would go on for a while. edit: thought I should add, this was in West Virginia, US. the town had a military base nearby, so that was probably the reason for the siren. even so, they tested it so often, in the event of an actual air raid, no one would've paid attention, havng heard it so many times before.
I heard this siren followed by all clear during Indo Pak war in 1965 and 1971. I also had the experience of blackouts (all external lights had to be extinguished). Subsequently in Calcutta sirens were sounded at 9.00 am by the government followed by all clear as a time check signal. Later discontinued as more people started using watches.
My dad too
Looks like we'll hear it now.
*that sudden heart attack when I remove my earphone and still hear it*

I’ve literally just learned all about the Battle of Los Angeles back in 1942 from a podcast where WWII soldiers fired God knows how many rounds at an unidentified aircraft. I looked up the image with the search lights and everything. Just thinking about that image and hearing this siren is so chilling, knowing this is what people heard and witnessed back then

First it was warhorns and trumpets, now it's sirens. The call of battle always get your heart racing.

Yo really gave my granpa the memories thanks king 👍
Since I was a kid I really hate the sound of siren 🚨 😔😔😖😖 it's like the world is ending in a worst way 😔
I remember this going off when I was a kid. It was tested once a week as I recall. One time it went off as we were walking past the water tower where the sirens were usually mounted in small towns. I wasn't expecting it and it scared the crap out of us. I think I was 15 or so. Back then the government would make us fear atomic attacks.
Finally something to wake me up every morning
I'm from Bulgaria and these sirens sound annually across ALL my country for two minutes in one specific day, to honour the memory of the revolutionary, poet and rebel Hristo Botev, as well as in tribute to all who died for the freedom of Bulgaria. All citizens stop moving and speaking for whole 2 minutes.
There's a noise similar to this near where I live in England, it goes off every now and again, pretty sure it's something to do with the oil rig thingy up the road.
Yup
creepy but really cool
i love this sound!!
At noon on the first day of every month when I was growing up, civil defense always conducted tests of the storm siren and the attack (air raid) siren. Whenever I heard them test the attack siren, I always said a silent prayer that I would never hear it for real. So far, so good (even though sometimes I hear it in my dreams, as I did a couple of nights ago).
When You Pause the Video But still hearing the noise
! did'nt know my town liked this so mutch! i hear it when i pause it
My dad still distraught big time when he hears sounds like this. He was a kid and remembers little but that sound does something.
Thanks for the upload mate !

The first time it's scary. The 100th time, it's annoying.
-A berliner during ww2.
In my town, they still test the air raid siren once a month, as we are located next to a large facility that produces explosives, a potential target in an attack. It's exceptionally terrifying if you don't realise it's coming
We hear it a lot here, wish it was a test

Those sirens were actually powered by Chrysler straight 8 and then later HEMI V8 engines. The initial tone of the siren "whooring" into life is actually the ENGINE starting up, then the clutch being engaged, then the siren drowning out the sound of the engine at wide open throttle. The sirens were 138 DB @100ft away, and could be heard 25-40 MILES AWAY.They were powerful enough they could actually disperse fog.
I love that sound. It’s the last thing ya hear just before corruption is exterminated.
