I have one of those motors, and I have been using it for years on my pontoon boat. I plumbed in a secondary gas tank on mine and it draws the gas in as I go so there is never a need to stop and fuel. That was the biggest pain ever since the tank on the motor is tiny. I have a video about it on my channel, however, it is in Russian. If you would like I can make a video about how I made up a secondary jerry can gas tank. There is no electricity involved it just works on suction, and it works awesome!!
Worth every Penny and more! I’ve had the Hangkai 4T model for four years now and it’s never once let me down. 👍🏻👍🏻
I’ve always said to myself “ Who buys these things”...
My questions has been answered!
The smirk on your face during the 1st launch was “Priceless”
“Liked and subscribed” thanks for the post
Aluminum boat the buttered backups but if you had a little homemade driver bolt have been nice little trunk trying to get to your spot motor. No water skiing.
Doing a reach around while at sea... now that's a true sailor!
How can I have it
Thanks for the review man he did a great job showing me everything I wanted to see sweet boat
Thank you for the time and effort to make this video
Your welcome, cheers.
Thank you. Helpful to make decision. It’ll meet my needs. 😁
Well after a year, how do you like the little varmint? Has it lasted? It sounds like you are being chased by a swarm of angry bees.
The motor beats the hell out of rowing for $200.Some earplugs would make it quieter.
great video mate, thanks for covering all the bases, neato lil thing ill look into one, reminds me of an old tanaka 1.5

Add a little B & S Muffler to the exhaust pipe. Trev from across the ditch in NZ cobber. T 😃
nice review mate... its easy to install and carry... i wish to have 1 soon
As far as the choke, [ | ] would be open, [ -- ] would be closed. Close it to start the engine cold, open it after a minute or two. I do miss AUS, I was stationed on the RAAF base in Darwin, NT when I was in the USMC back in '93. Loved it there.
Stfu boot
I put this exact same motor on my kayak mounted between the outrigger and the kayak.
I cut shortened and welded the shaft around 7'' shorter as it was way to long for what I needed. I also put a custom made exhaust extension that points the exhaust out and away from your ears, as you mentioned it is damn noisy.
Half of the trouble with this little motor is, the plastic propeller flexes, you can upgrade the propeller to a cast aluminium one for under $30.00 and you will get a little more speed, around 15 kls ph top speed. The motor is very reliable but sucks a lot of juice, on a calm day out in the kayak I will only get around two kilometers out of a tank.
This little motor is great for a kayak as it's light, a proper 2 to 4hp outboard motor is way to heavy for my kayak and this no brand is 5 times cheaper.
Were can you get a propeller
Whipper snipper is a new one for me. I've heard weed wacker or weed whipper. I've always been partial to edge trimmer, but I'm adopting Whipper sniper from now on.
Thanks fornthe review Simon , im in newcastle nsw ,thinking of buying this motor for a canoe , how has yours held up?
Good video and review. Thanks!
Loved your explanation and video
Good to have a review in English thumbs up from Scotland
Thanks :-)
I opted for the 2 stroke wet version because the exhaust goes down under the waterline so it’s significantly quieter.. not fast by any means but it’ll do the job

thanks for the review
Parabéns pelo seu vídeo.
Muito boa a demonstração do motor.
Comprei um aqui no Brasil e fiquei muito satisfeito com ele.
Uso no meu caiaque Hunter Fishing.
Antonio Marcos amigo oq vc axou desse motor sera melhor q o jet turbu
Edvaldo Alexandre , tudo bem?
O boa tarde ele fica quanto o valor
I have a 3hp long-tail version of this waiting for me to weld up a boat from three 44g drums. As you say, time will tell. If I need more power, I'll mount two 3hp long-tails in parallel.😂
That would be so cool
Great review! Thank you!
I'd put a quieter muffler on it, but it looks good. Good vid.
That's the same engine/clutch assembly I have on my post hole auger and it has worked flawlessly for 10 years. Just run the gas out of it at the end of the season so the carb doesn't get gummy.
Mark Osborne - Well said. I would just had a small detail that I never miss.
When finishing the gas and engine stopping squirt some WD40 or similar into the intake. Next season had gas and enjoy. :-)
Yep , you got that right .
Just spent half a day cleaning out my Mariner outboard (1970's) carb after leaving it for 10 months.
The old fuel had eaten into the fuel bowl and left a coating of AL oxide , god only knows what they're sticking in fuel these days .
Just as a curiosity. A few hours ago I took the dust and spider webs from my preferred toy. A 50cc moped that haven't been started since last year (Summer).
Thankfully for me I follow my own advise. I simply open the fuel petcock shake it a bit to start the fuel flow. After a couple of kicks there she was back to all it's 50cc 2 stroke glory.
The ritual never failed in this past 3 years. BTW the mix has 2 stroke synthetic other than that it's the fuel from last year. ;-)
You gone run all the fish off with that bumble bee mate LOL
thanks for sharing, mate.

Hi,there are motors make for all sorts of applications. If you think it works for you then it's a great buy.
I see a design flaw already the exhaust is pointing straight up in the Run position so if you're caught in the rain or you leave it outside in the rain your exhaust will fill with water into your piston you get the idea.
its a china dolly- not meant to putt you in air?= beat half price your trolling motor? 10 times faster?
loved this review!
Thankyou

Ótimo vídeo vou comprar um motor desse!
Liked it. I have almost the same motor. Hello from Turkiye.
I was looking at the 1.5 HP 4 stroke Engine from the same people for the extra $50 although it says it doesn't go as fast I think it will be good for the noise level and less using of fuel. I'm going to make a mount for my kayak hopefully it is not a regretful buy.
breytonfilms did you end up getting it? If so how'd it go? I was thinking of getting the same one for my kayak
noturaveragewatcher really good I can send you some pictures if you send me a messages 0452179216
breytonfilms what size kayak you got? And does it add to much weight to one side or you don't notice it once your in the kayak?
I have a Viking nemo, yes it adds some weight but i just lean to one side. It’s not that bad it only weighs like 9kg. I would get the 4 stroke if you are getting one.
شكرا عالتوضيح المفيد جدا.تحياتي من الجزائر
Nice job
So peaceful . . .
Thanks for posting this, I've been looking for a small setup for my canoe, and I've seen the lower ends on sale for around 58$ and I've definitely got a trimmer engine waiting. Seems like for me it'd be a perfect fit, thanks!
@kidman2520 Can you share a link to the $58 lower unit? I can't seem to find on anywhere. I want to mount the Honda gx50 on it.
@@markfoxwv it was on aliexpress, but I haven't looked for them for quite some time now.
Great video! Did it last long?
I have the same one still runs but for all cable rusted super pellet didn't go round but then I didn't really maintain it or let and fuel line very weak they leak had to modify mine
Good video mate but one recommendation would be to let the brand new engine warm up a little before you start cranking on the throttle
For that sort of money you can’t really condemn that little out board and if your happy with it then fair enough , but I would sooner go for a decent seagull silver century ,I know that they are an old motor now but the spares are still readily available and looked after they will last for years
Thank you!, Very handy!
Good honest clear review you pays your money and takes your choice
Noisy whipper but very cheap price
Or pay lot more for dearer heavier pukka outboard half way house would be honda 2.3hp light noisy ish
Light but hi price but easy to lift to from tender to mothership..
Good review. What is the initial oil ratio for the engine.
Can see a good reason for the speed your able to obtain, I think it has alot more to do with your aerodynamic hair cut.
I'm certain should you of removed you sunnys you would gain more speed.
Over all great presentation, definitely good value for money.
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it :-)
Stihl will last many years I know that sound only brand I used when I had my lawn service.
Great review bud! We call wippet snippers, weed eaters here in the USA.
Thanks :-)
Great kayak for the price. Others spent 3x the price to get exactly what I have in this floater.
1.) You never rev brand new engine. It needs at least 10 minutes of working on idle. After that you usually need to break in engine for 8-10 hours.
2.) You don't rev engine without any load !
I think this is just a weed eater motor... They are revved without a load all the time
بغيت شيموطور ليلبيع صغير8+7+10
Nice info here. Thanks.
I suppose that this would be more efficient with a better propeller. (Aluminium)
Very nice ... but can you add another crop to go back? A brass tube should be placed in the form of an elbow in the exhaust area to protect your face from the heat and smoke. Very nice, my hands. I hope to get this but I am now in Saudi Arabia.
I hav a brand new 40HP Yamaha 4 stroke for my 450 inflatable boats... But it way too heavy... Looking for this motor for just fishing in the lake.
We race these motors but you need to remove the air cleaner & spark arrestor from the exhaust & run it on 100:1. We get an extra
1/2 a knot.
Nice, thank for the info
it would probably do really well on a canoe of you can find some way of mounting it
Just put it on a flat back canoe
I would put a more quiet exaust and point it downwards so when it rain I’m ok
Small air cooled 2 strokes hate constant high RPM.
I’d be impressed to see how long this engine would last in this sort of application.
Quakes Outdoor Adventures air cooled 2 strokes run great at varying high and low rpms. But sustained high rpms generate more more heat than air cooled 2 strokes can dissipate. That’s why pretty much all 2 stroke outboards are water cooled. Because boats require constant high RPM
I have a 43cc husqvarna weedwacker and i can rev it to the max 24/7 and it loves it. Depends on what quality masjien u use.
umm no? whipper snippers are designed to be run at full throttle...
how hard is it to replace the propeller and are they readily available, is there a sheer pin or dose it rely on the clutch as a safety,
Victor lawn mower years back made two styles of outboard motors, using the good old reliable two stroke motor, they had a propeller unit, and they also had a pump jet unit, the propeller version would push a 14" bond wood boat a little faster than rowing, probably 5 knots at best. I would like to see a 10 hour review, not sure how a free running motor will last whilst under continual load, as it is when pushing through water. good video hope to see more.
There easy to get off (just a pin/screw to remove) but i havnt found a plastic replacement propeller to suit it yet only the alloy ones. Yes a replacement plastic prop is hard to find, but so far mine is still going fine so Ill cross that bridge when or if i ever break this prop.
Brilliant review. £139 over here, absolute bargain for the price let’s be honest
Mine lasted 3 hours before the con rod broke, paid £149 for it.
And then I swapped my 4stoke Weed Wacker engine and now it’s quiet and good fuel economy
neat but way to loud maybe u can set up exaust to go under the water to reduce noise, may interfere with ur 180 stearing but be worth it i think cut an weld up pipe an baffles to drop in the under water line
of course this is a large weed whacker motor, with a bicycle twist grip control, and an OB lower unit. Tanaka made an even smaller OB ( 30 cc) using what was then a bicycle motor ( bike bug) in the 70's. The noise is opressive.. but it works.
Please let us know your first breakdown on this outboard. Thanks in advance.
amazing
That nice for once spot to work fish that can get into water close. Don't need speed boat fishing.
Great review thanks. Go OZ
Thanks :-)
I've ordered one-delivery awaited. Thanks for a good review
I don't expect high quality or quietness but;
I only need it for fishing a tidal bay and some freshwater lake fishing in the UK;
I wont be trolling so I think I can stand the noise for the time required to get me to my fishing spots
I want lightness so I have chosen 2 stroke over 4 stroke
I want simplicity-so 2 stroke again
I don't think it's reasonable to expect a cheap chinese motor to survive saltwater use if it's water cooled so I wanted air-cooling (I've owned Johnson/Evinrude/Tohatsu/British Seagull etc over the years)
Lastly-and this remains to be seen- since much of my fishing is done in shallow water the absence of an underwater exhaust should mean less noise/disturbance (To the fish !) - though obviously not as good as an electric motor
We shall see!
If anyone wants an update click a like/reply and I will try to oblige
Add a briggs lawn mower buttet muffler - chinese knockoffs cheap as chips & work !. Trev NZ ps owned a Tanaka 1.2hp - anyone want a repo prop for 2.5hp Trev
PS...noticed the exhaust is exiting upwards - take to General engineers or fab a pipe to exit with a little muffler or better a tuned expansion chamber to route down & exit under water like TAS Tanaka 1.2 or 2.5 hp. T☺ u should be able to build 1 & quietin down significantly ..- i'd say its making just over 1 hp - tell by size of prop & gearing. Cheer mats Trev.do what i suggest & youll get results hearing u can't get back - that around 100 db full throttle - too much.
Good, thanks.Do you know about scooter muffler, which may install on this motor?Or make underwater exhaust,it will many more silent!
I have a eBay purchase 4 stroke, 1.5HP Petrol Power Outboard Engine and mounted on my kayak. Seller says 20km/h with 3 people... I must weight more than 5 people because my kayak was going at 8km/h on full throtle. I use watersnake 24lb with 50ah lithium battery now and it travells at 6km/h. much more peacefull.
thanks for the info. I think that a metal prop would do a better job.
Quite handy. I wonder if this is any good for an inflatable Kayak.
Thank you. New enggine
Did you add grease behind the propeller? And there should be another spot to add grease as well
Good. It has smoke. Not smoking scares me with these!
thanks for that . good review . I am looking for something to put on the back of a canoe I have cut the back off to make it a square back . seems a bit slow and noisey? . I am now looking at a 4HP very much like that one .
Spend a little more and get a longtail kit. Pick your required HP and put a Honda or clone. Probably the best power per dollar and a real benifit is their shallow water and debris, mud etc ability. You can power boats with both ends pointed with a little fabrication and no need to install a transom.
Trolling motor is more reliable and better
I purchased this motor new, this is not a salt water motor to begin with, a week after having it the throttle cable broke, one of the mounting brackets broke and the exhaust came loose after four hours of use.
wondering if a metal prop that has a different pitch, it might go faster.
It's closer to 5hp. It's a "Demon" weedwhacker engine, made in Poland. It can easily be replaced by a Honda 4- stroke motor, they' ll fit.
How do you know it’s the demon engine. There’s 100s of these engines
nice machine
Looks nice for the price.
You should built so the exhaust goes down in the water near the propeller then the noise gets smaller
JUST found it @ $1250 WAYYYYY OVER PRICED, i'll get a better deal from China :)
(AGAIN, your review was great!)
Mick Gatz Amazon $300
That was one of the DRASTICALLY marked up listings for that 2-stroke outboard, you can find them regularly for $160-$300 (depending on HP, brand and model). Here's a 2.5HP model (probably manufactured in the same facility in China, where almost all of these cheap engines come from) for $170 Shipped: www.ebay.com/itm/Seadog-2Stroke-2-5HP-outboard-motor-engine-superior-performance-propeller-kayak/223164559198?epid=8024243587&hash=item33f5a4ef5e:g:8dwAAOSwQt9brFsT
honnestly i like it
Also just a FYI if you put it on a avon raft it goes much faster then this boat
A trolling motor is more reliable and it will go about the same speed
joey it’s cheaper to
And also quieter
Great review!. where you get this unit?
You can get this on amazon.I recommand this link below to you.

cheers mate ! great vid. Patonga?
Sorry for my english...is HP of this motor same with HP of yamaha or honda??i mean the speed...thanks
Nice video
Super videó!!!
Run a pipe from motor down in the water ,,,muffler,,, think that help with the noise
Nice boat
Nice Video good demonstrate your engine for your boat. Where did you order that engine? can I asked where we can buy for it please? Thank you
Bought it of Ebay Australia in the outboard section. Cheers.
Please share the link
Hi Simon I purchased one of these after watching your vid, mine came with an oil leakage I presume from the prop gearbox?
Sorry not sure but i would ask them to exchange it for another one under warranty as any leak means water can get in and seize it up.
Yes Simon It was just a small leak from the gearbox screw being a little loose during transit, all fixed.
Also I just bought a spare prop kit from the same ebay seller for $15 au inc, they dont actually have them listed but they are readily available if you need one.
That,s good i couldn't find a plastic prop only the alloy one, but so far so good my prop still OK. Ill ask the same eBay seller & see if i can get one to. Thanks for the info.
dentray it doesn’t sound like the motor in the vid is under much of a load so a prop with more pitch might give more speed.
Very interesting ... Can you tell me how big that boat is?
Hey mate did you do anything to the propeller before you used it? Grease it or anything? I have bought one and just curious
Usually have inside to propeller ,valvoline. Number30 from factory.
Nice bro 👍
Buen video, gracias
