I think it honestly had to do more cause of injuries cause he did his military service in 2014. Came back in 2017 and had a bad knee injury and didn't fight for a year and half
Probably would’ve had more exciting fights, but he was never gonna win the belt, we saw how he did against top 5 competition.
Nah those years actually benefited him gave you opportunity and nice timing so he got undeserving title shot and Holloway fight make no excuses lz was never that good or elite

He needed those years to recuperate his body...

His win vs Dustin Poirier was remarkable.
You should've included the story of his retirement gloves.
During his walkout a fan swiped one of his gloves from his hand while he was giving high fives, he was planning on keeping both but since one was stolen he threw the remaining glove to the audience. Max Holloway heard of this and instead sent his gloves of that fight to TKZ along with some goodies from Hawaii. Fortunately, news of this got to the fan who caught the glove TKZ threw and decided to reach out and send it back (fun fact: the fan who caught is also Korean).

Absolutely! Josh Barnett does NOT get enough coverage. His record has incredible depth, and he holds some amazing wins. He was a Worldwide top 5 heavyweight for years and he's never had a proper retrospective on CZcams. Kiiyon should be the first to do it, as that's what got Kiiyon big in the first place!
@@The_Sacred_GroveProbably because he was juiced to the absolute gills. He managed to test positive multiple times back when drug testing was barely existent. Sure, a lot of guys were juiced too, but imagine how much more Barnett was to fail drug tests back in the 2000s.

KZ is a legends as is but as think big question about him will always be what if his country didn’t take him for military service for 4 years of his prime. All the stars were in alignment and I easily could see him winning the title once if he kept on taking the strides that he was.

Even though Jaldo is on a different tier TKZ was there stalking in the same level. I didn't know that he injured his shoulder during that fight. It was an even fight considering Aldo was on his prime.

People don’t realize KZ never actually served in the military he was exempted because of his shoulders so he was public servant which mean he could go home and train

1. He would have to fulfill all his obligations during the day and maybe train once in the evening. Not to mention all the issues with recovery and nutrition.
2. He wouldn't have been able to compete regularly, the ring rust would have been incredible
That is true, but he was still not allowed to compete during this time. Considering how he was probably in his prime physically during this period, you can't help but think that KZ and the fans were robbed of multiple great fights that could've happened had it not been for his public service duties.
