- It's Wayne again, back again with a training video for beginner tow truck drivers. In this lecture, we'll be reviewing a little trick that I learned over the years, along with some tips on staging your truck.

I lay the bridle up about 3 foot from the end of the bed. If you put it at the end the chain gets trapped between the bed and the ground, just like what just happened to you in this video.

Have one more day of training before they cut me loose on my own. I've been just winging it and doing a pretty good job and I believe tomorrow I will utilize this method for the rest of my time doing this work. Thank you very much sir.
How Long Was your training?
@@RM-lk1so A week , but I have a lot of common sense and have operated many different trucks and vehicles and equipment over the years. Also worked on others and my own vehicles for ages. So this stuff comes somewhat naturally.

From my experience chevron beds are always out of adjustment with the icc bumper .the bumper his the ground and you still have like 2 feet of bed to roll out by the time the bed hits pavement . I really dislike it
This isn’t realistic. Nobody will ever use this. Your going to learn your bed drop pretty quickly, and you’re also going to learn that you can’t put your bed right against tires, because then you can’t adjust your chains so they don’t rip the front clip off
A few thoughts.
First, stating your opinion as a fact is a poor habit to be in, and that's a fact.
Second, the glove trick and variations is exactly how I was taught well over a decade ago. The point isn't that you always do it, the point is you do it for a short time until you learn what the distances look like by eye. It works.
And last, this guy took the time to put out actual helpful training materials in a world (towing) that is severely lacking them.
