Fun fact: You can't get a clearance to land on Runway 17L anymore as I did here! When the magnetic North pole shifts, runway names are changed to correlate with it. It's now 18L!
Well done indeed - something one also never forgets is their first solo landing - that's big time (;-)) - still after all these years of driving these machines I remember That one haha...
+Jim Patrick Same for me. My instructor tells me to put the throttle to idle as soon as we overfly the beginning of the runway. I try to land with about 65-70 and somehow i pull and pull and the Cessna kinda "falls"...
Well done. I was really struggling with landing and the way your CFI laid it out really helped me. Funny thing is that I told my CFI about this video and he got defensive and said that is what I've been telling you the entire time. I can't disagree with my CFI but when it's taught the way your CFI does, it's easier to understand.
Great job. Wasn't that a rush? Wait till you solo, you'll feel ten feet tall. Your flight instructor has such a great calm voice. Seems like your in good hands. My instructor was very gruff, he'd bark and growl alot but he was a terrific teacher and you had to have thick skin to stay with him.
Not bad! Remember to keep that nose down on final. I saw him pushing on the yoke for you. Also, he didn't answer you about the rudder. You can add rudder if your passengers are uncomfortable with crabbing. If you do add rudder, in this case, you'd need some left aileron to keep you from drifting to the right of the runway. You want to take the rudder out as you're touching down, for obvious reasons(veering off the runway).
ColonelBumButt Yes, I was wondering why he didn't answer my question, but I didn't want to expand on it in the heat of the moment. I did add some opposite rudder to counteract the wind. I'll have to work on keeping that nose down next time! Thanks for the tips.

@@apertureaviation6417G yeah, hasn’t happened where I’m at yet, current approach course for KHIO 31L where I’m at is 318, so we’re very close to becoming 32L.
It was just a typical GoPro plastic mount on the hard plastic piece on the ceiling. Not sure I can describe it much better. Just mount it there and then angle it right and you're good
The instructor was wrong when he said "a plane will weathervane into the wind". That can only happen when the wheels are on the ground. An aircraft in flight is moving in an airmass and moves relative to it. The yaw to the left was probably your left foot pushing on the pedal! I had the same problem at about 15 hours and it took a sharp instructor to see what I was doing wrong.
I think it makes sense if I was maintaining a line with the runway, if there was a crosswind from the left. The aircraft would have had to be on a heading a few degrees to the left to keep in line. So right rudder would be used to compensate and straighten up right before or as the wheels touch down, right?
Yes, before touchdown you would use right rudder if there was a left crosswind. . But there was no tendency to drift to the right on the approach which is what a crosswind from the left would normally do, and you would have had to make a small turn to the left and then maintain that direction to keep in line. But no matter, you did a great job landing it on the centreline! @@apertureaviation6417G
Hardly any wind, the windsock isn't fully extended and it is close to the runway direction. The yaw to the left was probably a student pilot's anxiety, pushing on the rudder pedal without realising it. The instructor was wrong about "weathercock into wind" - that only happens on the ground.
Are you referring to the lack of left aileron after landing? I think my training on that was lacking at the time, or I forgot. Or there wasn't enough wind to warrant it? I'm not sure.
Super smooth landing! Especially for your first. I'm 7 lessons into my PPL and have been trying to record as much as possible, my last lesson was my first circuit work but it was a bit windy. Take a look if you get chance. Happy Flying. czcams.com/video/a-OfjUQ4qsg/video.html

Hey are you a pilot 😵💫
There is no other feeling in the world than when you make your first landing. That's when the addiction starts!
I like this teacher. He talked that one in real nice. wish there were more Like him
+Paul Wiles Definitely. I wish he was still here. He ran off to the airlines. :P
Your instructor seemed like a real chill dude, nice landing man! B)
Thanks!
youre welcome
That CFI seems like a genuine person and very professional, amazing chap. This is how instruction should be.
I really enjoyed his instruction!
For a first landing, you absolutely nailed it. Great landing. Congratulations...several years later!!! 😜👍☘️
Thank you!
@@apertureaviation6417G Still flying?
I can imagine the student pilot grinning pretty widely after the CFI said "annnd you just did your first landing." haha
Just another Brandon G passin through🤘
It was an amazing feeling hearing him say that.

Well done! I had my first lesson in a 152 the other day and can't wait for another!

Great memories! Flying the 150, 152, 172, 182 is a really wonderful experience!
That looks so fun to see the world like a bird does such a free feeling no roads, or traffic.

Those flaps looked nice, when I was taking lessons I had something that resembled an emergency brake for flaps.
your I stucco is so chill he just doesn't even care well he cares but he is so relaxed
Greetings from America 🇺🇸
How are you ❤️
Been there, I remember those nifty wing root air vents, dont pull em too hard when flying, they pop out.😂🛩🛩
your centerline accuracy I'd phenomenal dude.
Haha, thanks. Keep in mind this was a 150-foot wide runway.
Aperture Aviation still, for a first landing, looks great! I just flew for the first time in a year yesterday, I was WAY off...
Great job. Wasn't that a rush? Wait till you solo, you'll feel ten feet tall.

Nice landing! Good instructor keeping you calm and giving you the right info.
i also did my first landing in the 152 :) one of the best training aircraft ever made :)
Nice video dude!!
Good flights for you!
That was your first landing? Pretty impressive. I remember my first, not very good.
Thank you. Meh, part of it was I had a great instructor guiding me along.
Excellent first landing. Well flown and a very good instructor as well. Hope you are doing well with the flying.
That was a great landing for your first landing. Very well done
Thank you!
well done. great landing.
Thank you!
Great first landing. Congratulations!
That seems right rudder needs to be applied a bit , as the ball's slipping to right and the nose are deflecting to left....
Congrats, and welcome to the club!
Thank you!
nice job congrats on the milestone
Excellent instructing. Good job by the student.
Thank you!
I love the camera position. That's a great perspective.
For your first landing that was brilliant
Great Landing.
I was looking at your general handling if the aircraft not just the landing, you look like you have prepared well and are a natural! Well done sir!
Thanks! Practicing in the sim helps :) Let me know if you notice any bad habits!!
Love this man!
Solid landing!
Very nice landing
Not bad for a first landing, well done buddy
first landing affirms your status as a self-responsible entity. OUT FREAKING STANDING
Wow that was a nice one man.
Great job! Got my first landing tomorrow...
Nice Landing dude. Also your instructor seems very nice and chilled out.
Dood weddo Yes, he is really awesome and chill.
Awesome landing!
Thank you!
I wanna fly a C152 again, but not sure I can fit. Great memories!
My instructor. "Now full throttle!". Me "wait what? I gotcha".
Me: " who am I and what is a throttle".
Very good mate!
Good job!
My instructor would still say it ain’t perfect yet 😂
no such thing as perfect friend

Good CFI. Nice.
Nice 👍
Some people say it is recommended to turn off carb heat on really short final as it might reduce engine power on go around.
not bad at all especially for a first land.
nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! especially with crosswind

What configuration does the gopro have configured? (fps, resolution, ISO, etc.)
If I may ask, where did you mount the gopro in your 152 and with what mount? About to start my first lessons and your camera angle is fantastic.

@@AustinMarti Great! Thank you so much!
the approach, as in sims, seems more difficult than the landing itself
where'd you mount the GoPro in the 152?
Now I feel the runway where I'm learning is so short hahah

Good job

What equipment did you use to fix the GoPro so well? I’m also using a C152 at the minute and have just purchased a GoPro. Thanks
The flight school had glued a regular 'ol GoPro mount to the ceiling
Is the Insructor AirforceProud95?
when you don't know you landed....that's a good landing.
Great landing. Nicely done!
That was darned good if it was really your first one! Nothing to it right?
Nice job buddy. Very curious what you used to record the footage and sound?
Thanks.
I used a GoPro Hero 4 Black and a Lightspeed Zulu.2 headset + iPhone (and their app) to record.
So does that mean you use GoPro to record the image and zulu headset to record audio and then synchronized them together?
I used both the image and audio from the GoPro. But yes, you'll have to sync the audio from the headset in post.
Aperture Aviation Thank you very much! I just had 6hrs flight time but hope to see new videos!
What’s the cessna’s landing speed?
With a cross wind!
