    I test drove the 2016 Kia Sorento 2 weeks ago and I was very impressed.
    1) The steering is totally different from previous KIA's. It's on the heavier side, which made me feel confident. No more numb steering found in previous Korean/Japanese SUVs.
    2) The interior was very luxurious and high tech. Heated AND cooled seats. The styling is very premium with real aluminum and no more cheap plastics.
    3) The AWD powertrain made this car very satisfying to drive. One of the better AWD powertrains I've seen. On-par with the Toyota Highlander and much better than the Nissan X Trail.

    I imagine that because the Kia is newer it has the new new 2.0 turbo that we saw in the redesigned Sonata. Though it makes less power, I recall hearing that it achieves peak performance at lower revs and maintains it for longer, which could explain why it beat out the lighter, more powerful competition.
    As for my opinion on these types of cars, they're not for me. Plenty of people are probably going to be quick to ridicule them, but the fact is plenty of folks want the long warranty and loads of tech at a reasonable price. Yes, you loose a lot in terms of actual driving dynamics, but some people don't care about that.

    I’m owner of a 2013 Santa Fe sport... same body design. It’s a thrill to drive. It feels sturdy and firm standing, good gas mileage and I get 0-60 just under 8 sec. I also own a 2018 Cadillac XTS and I drive the Santa Fe way more aggressively. I just wish the sport badge they put on these suvs meant more than a slightly stronger engine and firmer steering.

    The 2016 KIA Sorento and 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe are both excellent cars.
    They are definitely better than the Toyota Highlander and Nissan X Trail.
    However if there was one winner, it would be the 2016 Sorento. Superior steering and handling, more road feedback and more powerful engine.

    I have a 2011 Kia Sorento 6 speed Manual base model I use as a travel and work vehicle. I have fallen in love with it over the years and I think I might get another Sorento. As for drag racing, while these SUVs rolling bricks down the road, having a manual gearbox in mine allows me to rev out hard, do some gnarly burnouts, and freely rev until 6600rpm. I have walked several other SUVs, pickups, and other cars who never expect this thing to be this quick. The key is turn off traction control. It bucks the car back and forth like a fuel cut from the ECU which is strange. But, turn off the T/C and you're good to go.
    When I don't have my tools and gear in it, it's relatively light and nimble so I am sure that has much to with it. It's reliable as all hell and the things Kia has had to work on - sensors gone bad and a fuel door lock issue - were all handled fast and free under warranty. No real mechanical issues and I'm close to 80K miles.
    Anyways, the moral is this: I purchased my Sorento for work travel, carrying my camera gear, and big bags of tools - as there's a ton of room back there - and ended up loving it for personal use.

    I don't know if Nathen was brake torqueing like Roman was that could of played a huge role in the Hyundai losing. Could of also the Hyundai having more turbo lag or the power band? But I'm guessing Roman doing the brake torque helping the turbo to spool more. Like to see a rematch with both brake torqueing it.

    @925boosting Před 9 lety +1

    I have a feeling the Kia has more power than it claims to have like Audi does. I'm all for that which I see as an bonus. It's possible the Kia's engine has an linear power band meaning it gets to it's power band quicker and stays at it's power band longer.
    I like the Kia better but I wonder which one had better fuel consumption? It wouldn't be a deal breaker if it was worst.

      ***** The Kia 5-passenger Sorento T-GDI is a competitor to the Santa Fe Sport 2.0T. Kia does not have a short wheel base Sorento, and Hyundai offers the longer wheelbase only on the 3-row Santa Fe. It's a good thing, they no longer just make one car and slap two different badges on it anymore. The comparison is fair.

    Here is why. The heavier vehicle will be pressing down the tires harder. Therefore, more initial grip. You are driving on wet surface, which is less favorable when launching higher powered lighter weight vehicle.

    You are racing crossover cars to see which is faster? Dudes, these are not sports cars. Shouldn't you be testing them off-road instead? What's the matter with motorists in general. They would even test a truck for sportiveness. To them, it all comes down to speed and how sporty a car is.

    Here in israel the kia cost 73k
    The hyundai cost 73k
    It comes with 2.2 diesel or 3.5 v6
    You in usa have more features and the 2.0 turbo more efficient in fuel
    And the price of your santa fe is half from here
    Here it comes 7 seats even though the price in us is half
    That is insane

    why are the brake lights blinkin'

    • @KangHM
      @KangHM Před 8 lety +4

      +Sardar Khan Brake lights are LEDs and as you know... LEDs are not constant on lights. They blink and they blink so fast that to our eyes... they look constant on. Video cameras records at 30fps or 60fps depending on settings and some frames of the video will capture those lights when LEDs are off and some when theyre on. Thats why they appear to be blinking. Sorta light how when you watch a video of a car accelerate... the wheels look like theyre're slowing down. Hopefully I made some sense. LoL
