    Xcellent work like always and thanks for following my request in regards to the glassing table.
    New one looks amazing and with those 3 improvements even better.
    Could you share measurements so we could replicate.
    Once again thanks for everything!!

      Measurements!
      Table is 8 ft long, 32” wide
      Rails are 1.5” tall
      The table is sitting on a small table that is 30” tall at a nice mid thigh level
      Short glassing rack is 22” wide and stands10” above the table, 40” total height
      Y’all flip up racks stand 28” above the table, so 58” total
      Feel free to adjust the height up or down 4-6” or so depending on your height for optimal comfort! I’m 5’10

    i like to have a separate pair of shoes dedicated to just glassing. i also like to wear a pair of white pants so that the resin colors get all over them and they look very cool. - also a lot of shapers/glassers lay down ram board on their floor and shovel off the buildup resin. a lot of glassers have been doing it so long they don't really care about if the floor is "sticky"

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před rokem

      Huge regrets on not just laying down ram board or tar paper right off of the get go, cleaning would have been about 1000% easier! Definitely recommend!! Yes, I’ve seen some very cool resin caked shoes and pants with hundreds of accumulated layers, very cool!

    Are you going to screw a rail across the two movable arms so you can do it in one motion, with one hand? This tickles my pickle- inventing for ease of use!

    Great video! With your shaping standings how do you make it level once the foam is on top? Been finding the tape and zipties on mine slip up making it all wonky but the stand itself is level? Cheers!

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před rokem +1

      Hmm, for me just ensuring taping my foam level and under enough pressure securing tight enough it doesn’t shift is key! So enough pressure to permanently secure!

    When lift the board to transition to the higher height do your resin drips on your forearm? and I assume you cover the area facing the ground completely with tape or paper so your resin filled hand doesn't get all over the deck or bottom?

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před 11 měsíci

      What's up Breezey, unfortunately I do get an occasional drip on my forearm, but if you are careful and have it pretty tightly and cleanly squeegied you can really minimize dripping and avoid it mostly. Yes sir, for cut laps I fully tape off opposite side of the board, I have a pretty in-depth tutorial on all things glassing here czcams.com/video/v5miveyGlfk/video.html Hope this helps!!!

    Just out of curiosity... how to do dispose of built up resin and surfboard making waste??

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před 6 měsíci

      Unfortunately not much that can be done recycling wise, the excess resin solidifies then you can just chip into shards and throw it away. Any excess resin that you have that hasn’t dripped onto the table if you just have leftover in your bucket, I like to pour into little molds and make shifter knobs. Sort of a fun way of using excess resin.

    I sense disaster going from low to high or vice versa just like you almost did. Imagine something like a barber chair that you can raise or lower. That's what I am talking about! Just pump it up with your foot.

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před rokem

      Gary YESSSS, I’ve thought about that too, that would be really neat, and definitely involves a precarious transition every time 😂. One cool option I haven’t tried but would probably work would be to build a scissor lift, probably wouldn’t be too hard, just might be tricky enough to really make it super sturdy. There is an ozzy company out there that has an adjustable glass stand but it costs something like 400-500 bucks

    When I do a lamination. Turn it over to cut lap when tacky; cloth sticks to glassing rack and separates from foam. I have tape on the stand. Stand top is about 4" X 1". Any tips? ✌️👍

    • @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop
      @RockandSeaGarageBoardShop  Před 10 měsíci

      Ooh that’s frustrating! Let it cure a longer so it’s not as tacky. It should cure to the point where it’s tacky, the cloth will be slightly flexible but it shouldn’t be sticky at all.
      If you let it cure longer, that will typically do the trick, but if it is still staying sticky there are a couple of things to try. First make sure you have a good clean lamination where you have squeegeed away excess resin, excess resin may remain a little sticky. If you already have good laminations with excess removed, you can mix in some sanding resin into your next pot, 30-50%, that way it will cure harder. Adding sanding resin will make it a little harder to do the cut lap because the fiberglass will cure harder and is less malleable when pulling up your tape line to cut, but it won’t be sticking to your stand at all! Just make sure you flip your board and cut your lap before it becomes rock hard and you will save yourself a headache! Hope this helps! Good luck!!

      @@RockandSeaGarageBoardShop I let it cure a bit longer. Squeegeed a bit firmer. Used grease proof paper on top of the racks. Seemed to work. 👍
