Never had the original just got the slim… haven’t had any problems with it at all.. no over heating or loudness my kid plays it for about 4 hrs a day and I do about 2 it plays fine

Just got a second hand PS5 Phat. I'd consider exchanging it for a PS5 slim but the stand is not included. And its just too much hassle to get accessories.
Same deal. Bought my PS5 OG second hand, no problems, no overheating, etc. was considering exchanging for slim, but everyone’s been telling me Og’s heat sink is superior as is cooling. Slim has more internal storage, but you can already just buy more storage for your OG phat. So yeah, I’m satisfied. No need of the slim

The Bluetooth dongle for the 3D pulse and pulse explore can only be plugged from the back instead of the front of the console.

@R-M148 I bought another OG. It was hard to find because in so much demand but I managed to grab one from a hobby store at the same price as slim. I have a good experience with my original OG so it is tested. I can't say the same for the slim version. I really think Sony should have put some more sleek design and not this cheap looking one.
@@Kashif314hey, not trying to force your opinion, but the slim would be a better option if you don’t have the OG. The slim has more storage and better connection. something very cool about it is that if you order the disk version, you can remove the panels and the just take out the disk insert. No screws required. What I’m saying is, you can turn a disk version into a digital version of the slim. It also runs very smoothly and quietly. I got the slim 2 months ago and I have no regrets so far. Yea. I agree with you, the slim does look cheaper than the original, but luckily you can order some new panels for your ps5 slim to make it look less cheep and more premium like the original. It is so much colors to choose from. You can get some from Walmart, Sony, Amazon, or even temu. So in my opinion, a ps5 slim would be a better option if you don’t have an OG ps5.
@flxckzrl03828 thanks bro. Actually I did bought an OG after having great experience with my first OG. It was hard to find an OG but I managed to get one.
If I had no seen the OG fat version I would have got the slim version in a heartbeat but after owning an OG, the slim looks like compressed and out of proportion but maybe that's just me.
So far no complains with both of my OGs. Actually I should have waited for a PS5 pro but I wasn't sure it was happening anytime soon. But now there is no way I would pay to get another PS5 for pro features.

I was lucky and managed to snag a slim disc edition for 450 euro where I’m at. They’re becoming more available here due to people not having the funds to get one.
They should have put the disc drive into a section of that black area and got it off the outside .
Other than storage is there no difference internally? Size and design doesn’t matter to me, so ig I’ll probably just buy the slim version for more storage.

The removable disc tray is good because there has been times with Xbox and PlayStation where the disc tray fails and doesn’t read disc’s and they was married to the motherboard so was basically nothing you could do about it, with the ps5 slim, if you ever had that problem in the future you could just buy another disc tray

You didn't realy talk about needing a WiFi connection to register the DISC drive on the Slim model, which could cause future issues should Sony shut down the servers for the PS5. If you're going DISC based for the PS5, the original model is the only version you should get if you plan to keep the console and want to avoid potential issues in the future.

Maybe its different in regions in South africa the base models are all 850GB and the slim is a 1TB.
Same price so the slim is a win here plus the option to replace the disc drive if it goes faulty.

The only knock i have on the ps5 is the fact that it comes with very low storage and sony because makes people by an ssd fmto put more storage on the game other than that I'll still choose the ps5 over the xbox series x. I just hope whenever the ps6 comes out sony corrects that idiotic mistake.
I own 4 OG ps5 and just bought a slim yesterday abd realized that the ps5 slim download games a lot slower then the OG Ps5. I did a little research and realize other ppl notice the same thing

The two USB A Ports on the back are USB 3.1 gen 2 10gbps. I have a USB 3.1 gen 2 USB Hard Drive in one of the back ports and a 4 port USB 3.1 gen 2 hub in the other one for charging all of my controllers and headsets. I use the 2 front USB C ports for fast PD charging of other devices like my iPhone, iPad, and Nintendo Switch Lite. Btw the bottom USB C is USB 3.1 gen 2 10gbps like the back usb A ports, but the USB C version charges things faster. The top USB C port is USB 2.0 480mbps which means it’s the slowest port for data connections, but it does also have fast PD charging like the other one below it so I would recommend a USB C hub connected to that slower port to use it for charging everything.
I wouldn’t go for the the slim bc I it’s loud the fan I order one from Best Buy yesterday and played it and it sounded so loud then I exchanged it to a second and it was the same noise accpected it didn’t had the ufo sound so I’m returning for a full refund it was a waste of money anyone knows where can I get the og one?

It depends where you put it with any console you have to place it in a open space and maintenance like cleaning the dust out it legit might just be your setup. Even back then I've seen people place consoles in closed areas expecting the console be fine
It might be a faulty console. I got a Slim and it's quiet but not as quiet as my Og though.

You don’t even know if they updated the SSD inside of those things and just for the sake of your knowledge, both of those connections are USB connections, the old one that you referred to is called type A and the other one is just called type C but again it’s a USB type A or USB type C and what you need to compare is that what kind of USB type C is it on both of these devices because USB type C has also much different speeds
I remember all the fuss about the slim needing Wi-Fi to install/register the hard drive. Honestly the whole thing is done in like 10 seconds.
The problem is… no one thinks Sony servers will go down until they do. I was around when Sony got hacked during ps3 era. Couldn’t go on line for quite some time. If something like that was to happen again, ps5 slim owners wouldn’t be able to register their drives or use their consoles. Even people who have already registered their drives have had to re register them from time to time. Nothing like being able to use your console straight out the box.🤷 in the end, time will tell but I have the feeling the slim will prove less durable over time and create more buyers remorse. I mean, it’s made with cheaper materials so there’s that, as with most slim models, developers cut costs for production. They only fool the consumer into thinking they are getting the bargain when mostly they are paying for an inferior product that is made with cheaper materials and an overall design less durable, like the ps3 super slim which wasn’t built to last either.
The point isn't how long it takes to register the DISC drive, it's about future proofing. If something happens where the drive in the slim needs to be registered again and Sony's servers are down or permanently offline, your PS5 Slim is essentially bricked.

@@user-hf2qq7be8bLol I have both consoles too and the graphics looks identical. The cooling isn't even improved too! It has the same cooling internals inside of it, it has the same APU chip but in a smaller case with smaller heat dissipation. So probably here is the list at better cooling:

The slims/newer revisions were always way better than the originals for power consumption/quietness. This year around it seems like the opposite - worse cooling, higher temps and louder noise. The CFI-1200 is the best model so far
I have a slim and its sooo quite and always cool for atleast 4 hours afterwards, the people who have overheating issues either got a faulty model or dont keep it in a open space

you probably don't have to worry about disc drive software from the official website, because you probably won't be using it for more than 4,5 years, and even if you use it, I'd say you're safe for more than 10 years for that drive software scenario
@syedsameeraly I didn't want to take the chance with the disc drive stop working so I just went with the 1200 ps5 disc verison. I think about time the ps7 and xbox come out all system will be all digital future and I hate it. But you really not safe rather if u buy the disc or digital because at anytime any company can stop the software from working on both.

I've just watched this and one thing is plain to see. You have no idea what you are talking about. The slim is NOT faster at all, the cpu and gpu are identical. The only real internal thing is that the slim has slightly more storage space, 1tb compared to the 860gb of the original, but that has nothing to do with speed.

Here's the deal. Why would I spend $400 on a PlayStation 5 original? Who knows what kind of warranty, if any. Probably not when you can just get a brand new PlayStation 5. Slim with Spider-Man 2 for 499 ( when on sale) The one without Spider-Man 2 is $499 all the time.

What's the difference besides the outside
the internal structures are different, the fans sounds are different, the heat protection is a little bit different
You forgot about one big thing, not a decider if you already have a fat PS5 however, if you are a first time buyer you should go for PS5 slim. PS5 slim supports wifi 6 which means very fast downloads comparing to max 200mbps(wifi-ish)
with PS5 fat.

@@Spider-Fam2 that’s really odd, seen somewhere the info about this but can’t find it. Wonder if OG PS5 version has issues with WiFi 6 speeds due to controller issues as it’s been noted on various occasions PS5 do have poor WiFi speeds. Maybe PS5 Slim WiFi controller is more mature and better sync with routers. Anyways, if you have OG PS5 then I would rather add extra HDD if the you don’t fancy the new look of PS5 slim.
Its still the same as the big version, few cosmetic changes and better Wi Fi the processing and graphics are the same so your gaming experience hasn't changed. Yes its a tad smaller but that's it. I think this has been said before in the comments. I'm in Melbourne Australia and you would be hard pressed to buy the bigger version these days.
