This song is so underrated for how catchy the chorus is

Yeessss!!!!
very much QUEEN-songs are underrated
its not underrated lol its a single (double a side)
Freddie was a gifted piano player. He wouldn't tell you that, but it's true
TheOfficialCMAN It’s kinda funny because he only took one year of piano class when he was 10
He made his compositions special enough to let him sing and play at the same time. That usually takes a lot of practice but at the rate he was writing these songs I wouldn't be surprised that he wasn't the most technical. He played very emotionally and you can hear it.
Silent Studios I didn't know that!
TheOfficialCMAN He was.so.much more than a gifted piano player
a man like that can play anything that sounds, and make it sound perfect.
this would be a great villain song in a musical

My teenage years were the 70's. I thought Ziggy Stardust was the best album ever, nobody could touch Bowie. Then I heard Physical Graffiti by Led Zep and I played it over and over. Now here I am in 2017, an old man of 58 years. There is only one album and this is it. Sheer Heart Attack is what I play in my car every month just to keep me happy. It is so unique and addictive. God bless you Freddie!
Same age and musical tastes, especially Physical Graffiti. I like this best of the Queen albums because of the unrestrained rock-n-roll feeling. The next three are all classics too (Night at the Opera, Day at the Races, News of the World), but there's a unique kind of energy on SHA, particularly in songs like Brighton Rock, Flick of the Wrist, and Now I'm Here.
stardust and graffiti were great albums, and sheer heart attack is pretty damn good, but it was also where QUEEN started to change....to listen to their best work, you need to listen to QUEEN 2...heavier and more melodic.....
i am 62 and was lucky enough to see the first queen tour here in boston, with them opening for mott the hoople....queens best and heaviest albums were their first 2 albums, with QUEEN2 being the best ever...
nothing in this world beats ziggy stardust
And just think, they were in their mid - twenties when they were knocking stuff like this out. Unbelievable talent.
I bought the Killer Queen SINGLE. Yes, I'm that old. This song was on the flip side. I fell in love with it, and Queen.
I truly envy you for being able to have done that. I would give anything to have been born in this era
Carrie Berry doesn't seem 5 mins since I walked into Woolworths and bought killer queen. nearly 56 now. 🙇
I bought the album when it first came out. Yes, I'm that old, too. I only wish I could have seen them in concert! I've loved them since their first album.

Such an awesome song. Anyone notice at 0:34 when he says “I’ll have you seeing double” Roger hits the snare twice and with both sticks as if to emphasize the double? Such a cool detail hidden within the song.

Somehow, the difference between the pleasant opening and the sudden dark tone doesn't actually feel jarring.
Bryan's guitar-work here is genius. He is winding his way throughout the entire song.
A great song to play when you're PISSED at whomever or whatever. Freddie just gets it!!! His anger is just pulsating and giving his listeners and fans the words, tone, and music to help us let off that fury.
If you look up 'underrated' in the dictionary... This song...
so this was the first of two songs about Queen being "ripped-off" by management. The second one, "Death on two legs" gets even more nasty - and probably rightly so
But i've just searched about thing song on google and wikipedia says freddie actually said that it's not about a specific person in particular , he even said their manager thinks it's about him but it isnt , so excuse me for asking but if i understand u correctly where did u get the information that this song is about Queen themselves being ripped off by management?
@@nightknightinblack czcams.com/video/JIfU1yCP028/video.html
Idk about this one specifically but death on two legs is about them getting ripped off by management and by the sound of it this one is as well.
@@ibitebats1729 yes, u are right death stranding in fact is about a specific manager ripping off queen but i dont think flick of the wrist was intended for someone specific
@@nightknightinblack - in all fairness to your comment, Freddie never actually went on record saying Death On Two Legs was about their management either. He couldn’t for legal reasons so technically on record Queen never wrote songs about their contractual problems everything is hearsay. Now, if you look into the lyrics and do a little bit of research as to what they were going thru in that particular point in their careers you’d know that they wrote a few songs about it, maybe not naming their management but explaining their business problems which is quite transparent. While both Brian and Roger have said that “Death” was written about their management, neither one can lay claim for it since they didn’t write it. They can’t tell you 100% what freddie was thinking anymore than i can tell you what freddie was thinking when he wrote Bohemian Rhapsody.

For a song about a bad manager it’s one of the best Queen songs I ever heard. Been a fan for 40 yrs nearly all my life
You have mixed it up with "Death on two legs"
75 yrs and still rocking love the imagery this song creates. Underrated ❤❤
It's clearly a song about a bad business deal or bad manager. I don't see why Queen wouldn't have more than one song about a terribly bad manager. Also, clearly Freddie wrote angry songs well, beginning with Liar in their first album.
@@FunkyDisco79 Both songs are about the same person.
@@clarenceeugene9692 I read the Wikipedia article about this song and there is a quote from Jim O'Connor that says that Freddie said "I wrote it as a sort of tongue-in-cheek story about the con-men and rip-off artists we're always running into. Our manager would like to think it's about him, but it's not." After I realised the quote is from 1975 I think you're right.

Yep Chelsea so true.
No Deaky in the description AGAIN??!!! It’s outrageous he must get credit too

But Mercury died, and he’s in the description.
It’s not about the current status of the band because Queen Official never posts what they’re doing nowadays. This channel is pretty much exclusively for what happened from the years 1970-1991, before Deacy quit, so he should still receive credit.
@@jamie6506 when Freddie died he never said he quitted queen
Yeah, I agree with you! Esp, when it puts like "See the best of..." John didn't take part in this song? John didn't take part in all the Queen music untill 1991 and Freddie's death? (Doesn't matter in the slightest that he quited.) He did. So should be given credit for it. It all looks... not nice.

Queen ii Bro if you want more queen
No question Queen 1970"s are the best!!!
Kelley Seiler Have you heard under pressure?
"Under Pressure" is a great pop song, but still quite subpar regarding Queen's discography... in fact, when Queen gained worldwide fame by the end of the 70's, their best was already behind them, Queen's true genius lies in their first 4 albums, when they were a Hard/Progressive/Avant-garde Rock band, which influenced many other bands (as well as the rising Heavy Metal genre), then starting from "A Day At The Races", they were more focused on trying to produce more radio-friendly songs, and they did it well, but that's not quite the same thing, no more epicness, some good songs here and their, but more uneven songs and albums, while Queen I (maybe my favorite Queen album), II, Sheer Heart Attack where awesome from the begining up to the end, and "A Night..." was slightly more uneven, but contained absolute killer songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Prophet's Song and Death On Two Legs.
@@debiruman9200 Agree about their true genius being their first albums in the 1970s. To be fair, though, all 70s bands that wanted to survive changed their sound in the 80s. Elton John, Queen, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, etc. The fantastic studio sound-production techniques introduced in the 80s meant that any band that didn't go more synth or new wave was going to struggle to stay viable.

The transition from this to Lily of the Valley is sublime.
The first time i heard this song i was like it's an okay song. then i heard it a few more times and now i absolutely LOVE it. Firstly Freddie's piano playing at the beginning is astounding. then his vocals are raw, passionate and so sexy. Brian on the guitar is fantastic and John's base gives it beautiful power and Roger's drum beat drives it home. To top it off you have beautiful recorded track and then Freddie takes it to another level with the live performances. I am in awe!!

+JoroJojoro ...aaah .. so this was also about their leech manager they had at the time.. I didn't realise that, but reading the lines, it all seems to make sense.
and "Sleeping On The Sidewalk" is the sequel, I think.
+MegaLisa830 it's on "News Of The World." It's like, "okay, we finally get rid of this guy, let me tell you how it's gonna be from now on"
You're welcome. "News Of The World" was released after "A Day At The Races," which songs were written at the same time "A Night At The Opera" songs were written. In fact, Brian May's idea was to release both of them as a double album, but it wasn't a popular idea amongst his band mates, foremost Freddie. So, in the practical sense, "News.." is the next album after "A Night.." so it's fair to say that "Sleeping On The Sidewalk" tells the story of how things were before Jack Nelson and how their career evolved once without him, and unlike the most somber "Fick Of The Wrist" and the acid "Death On Two Legs," both of them written by Freddie, "Sleeping On The Sidewalk" has the cute-chill out style of Brian writting and also his voice.
