Didn’t realize I had comments off sorry guys!
Also thanks for the views!! Lmk if you guys have any other questions on anything or vids you wanna see!
Quick how to on changing the headlight bulb on your chevy equinox 2015 vs paying the dealer price!
Takes less than 5 minutes and all you need is a t20, flathead, and the bulb!
Hope this helps! Also I’m in no way a mechanic and did this no problem!
Solid contribution helping Equinox owners. The space is so small I had to do it without any visual. But your video was so good I was able to reach in and figure it out blind. Took me 10-15, but not possible without this tutorial.
@@phokinskaya heck yes Mate! Glad you were able to save some $$ and time in the long run! Thanks for the reply!!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. This is my first time replacing my headlights and this made the process so smooth and simple
Heck yea! Glad this was able to help! Lmk if you need anything else done and I can make a vid of that possibly!
Thanks so much for such great instructions. That's the first time I ever attempted to change my own headlights and it was a success!
@@PeggyAllange excellent!! That’s great to hear!! If you need anything else done I have my car for a few more weeks and can give it a go! Gonna do my tail light fixture this week. Congrats on the first time, you’re a champ for even trying!
I was about to remove the entire bumper to take out the headlight assembly. Thank you, my brother!
Dude, you are awesome!! I saved that money and popped it in myself. Followed your instructions to a T. It took less than 5 minutes. Thank you so much. Yes!!!!!
Awesome! Glad to be of help. About to do my cracked tail light in the next day or so (full replacement and bulbs )
That's pretty easy just do it during the daytime. Idk why anyone would complain about that. Simple stuff like this is worth saving alil money by doing it yourself.
Thanks fam!
Exactly super easy and save a bunch of dough! Defs a day time or wear a headlamp if there’s any lighting issues when trying to find the bulb to all those having any difficulty!
video was great, I changed it in 5 mins or less saved me a lot of money on this. easier then i thought it would be. Thank you!!!!😃😃😃
That's what's up fam!
You missed the blue gasket that goes around the cap, this keeps moisture out and protects the build from contaminants
As a single mom thanks dude saved me time and money
So glad to do so! If you need any other fixes let me know and I’ll make a video! Need to do my tail light assembly still as it cracked
Thanks for this. And for not having to take half the car apart to get to it.
Heck yea Mang! Glad it worked out for ya!
I did this. So happy I did not have to pay to dealearship 200 dollars + 32 for the bulb lights. Thanks bro!
Of course my guy! Glad it worked out
🙏🏼 Thank you soO much for this video! I was able to fix it myself w/ a little help from my neighbor. His bless you ❤
You’re welcome!
Very good video. I changed mine in the parts store parking lot. Thanks!
Heck yea mang! Glad to help and thanks for watching!
Great video, this was quick and easy - it may help future viewers if you put the bulb type in the video description (it was H11)
That’s a great idea! Thanks for that and for watching Kevin! I’ll go in and edit the description when I get to my laptop 🦾
If you go to the front bumber there are two nuts when removed they make this much easier and it may take an extra minute to open up but makes it much quicker
Thank you. Super easy. Did both sides under 5 minutes.
Yay! Glad it worked like a charm for you! Taillight replacement video is next!
Excellent video. Helped me out quite a bit with mine!
Thanks for the instructions. It was easy to do it once I knew how.
Exactly! I have done a couple other repairs to save myself some $$$. For instance, I switched out my battery when Geico said it would take two hours for them to arrive and I had bought my battery at Costco thinking they would swap it for me. However, they do not anymore
Thank you! The video before yours...took the whole bumper off 😂. I knew there was an easier way.
Oh no 😂😂
Glad you hit next vs trying that 💯
Get it brah! 🦾
Great Time Saving Procedure!!!! Thanks a million.
You nailed it, glad to hear! Thanks for watching!
My fat stubby fingers and a Maine winter won’t enjoy this fix but thanks for saving me an unneeded trip to the garage.
No prob mate, get a neighbor or someone to do it for you and save the $! If I was closer than CA I’d help a viewer out forsure!
@@Chemical-H I thought that was California sun I saw. Peace from the land of cold and lobster.
Thank you. This made it really easy!
Heck yea glad it was cake!
This is what you do was made for...
Thank you
Glad this vid was of help!!
Perfect explanation! Ty, sir
Glad to be of service brotha!
FYI -
- There are 2 7mm hex screws under bumper, heads facing the ground.
- The dust cover seal isn't on, it's a blue formed ringed the size of the cover. You can see it laying in the wheel well when you first open the plastic.
Mine was same way, I assume they fall off easily and are never noticed to have been there to be missing. That bulb had been replaced at least once. Its a pain putting it back on, I used a bit of superglue to hold in place and grease allow it to go on. Press hard
I want to agree with you, however if you notice it is already lying there before I opened the headlight. The headlights have never been swapped prior to this by anyone so not sure how it would be there if this is the first time I’m opening it. I will re open it on both sides and see it the other one has the “o” ring
Just replaced mine and I have the blue ring you are mentioning.
Easy fix! Thank you!
Did you take out the silicone O ring? I couldn't get the GM cap back on with it. Fought it for a half hour...
When I took this off, I did not notice a silicone ring of any sort so it was able to pop in super easy. Check back in the video around 1:36 and I believe you’ll see an O-ring that should have been attached to that GM cup. I have not opened up this side of the car before, so I’m not sure if that silicone ring would’ve been there, I opened up the other side before making this video, mistakenly thinking this was the side that needed to be fixed ha ha!
God I need to hire a man to live with me 😂
If you follow the steps in this video, you don’t need one ha ha!
@@Chemical-H Man I love you I just got done doing it myself and I’m canceling the appointment tomorrow lol
@@milkchocolatebeauty78 nailed it!
@@Chemical-H you missed your shot bro …😂
@@ryancarriveau87 I have a wife my guy so there was no shot…nice try my guy 😂
Help!
I got the 2 screws and 2 plug things out. But I can’t seem to get the piece of plastic out of the way to get in and take off the GM cap.
Around the 42-44 second mark in the video, do you just pull? Or push in and pull?
I don’t want to break it. 😂
Thank you. 🙏
Heyo! Once the fastener was removed it should easily tilt forward for access (by pulling toward you)
I’m thinking about doing it myself because Firestone wants to charge me $93 for each side I know they always trying to get ladies
Do it yourself. It’s extremely easy! Just watch for yourself 🫡
Thank you brother I have the same make model and year
It was 70 degrees today and I was off so I did mind today
THANK YOU!
@@scotthopkins1113 so glad I could be of help!!!! Thanks for letting me know!!!🦾🦾
Thank you Gary you just saved me $50
No worries glad to help!
Great video! Made replacing the bulb so easy. But has anyone else had trouble plugging the fastener back in all the way?
Did you bend them or break them by chance? You can get some easy at auto zone or equivalent place or try bending back and maybe that would work if something happened to your fastener
@@Chemical-H I eventually realized what I did. Didn’t pull the top cap all the way that’s why it was only fitting like halfway through. Appreciate the response and the video!
@@daotero great!
Thanks for the instruction. I was rather confused when i popped the hood. I could see the housing but i was like, who has small enough hands to access that? Thanks brother.
Dang the call out 😂
Haha my hands are I would say average or maybe a little meatier 😂😂😂
It twas a tight fit 😉
It was so easy thanks
Congrats and Your welcome! Glad you got it handled and were able to save some $$! I just swapped a battery on my car as well since dealerships wanted 250 to do it. Took me 6 min lol.
Hey was there a cap on the driver side?? I didnt see any cap on
Haha I found it now .. waayy up there Dude Thanks for saving me $150 to put on Both
Cap as in where the bulb is?
If so yes there is the twist lock cap that you want to twist to unlock and reveal the bulb
Can confirm it’s the same as I opened the wrong side originally when doing this the first time and now it’s in the outtakes 😂😂🤦♂️
Took me 7 minutes. I must need more practice. Thanks for the video
Nice job mate!
Thanks bro
@@danrobinson7968 so happy to help!
Hope it is as easy as you make it look.
I’m no mechanic brotha and I did it. Don’t have fear
My arm is too damn big to maneuver properly under there. 😐
Haha shoot! Get a partner or neighbor to help out 😂
You should be able to pull the flap back pretty far and reach your boulder shoulda in as long as all the studs are out (if you break any they are like .25 on Amazon)
Should have watched your video first but thought I knew how to do it. I was wrong thk you
No worries bro you got it in the end that’s all that matters! Nice work!
Yep, I agree!
@@kevintate2821 sorry it doesn’t give me a time stamp what is this in reference to?
Good deal
The dealership ship wanted 150 to do both. F**k. That. I'm going to do it myself.
What is the bulb number?
Hey there Sherri!
It’s an H11
Here’s where I got it @
www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/long-life/sylvania-h11-basic-halogen-headlight-bulb-pack-of-1/syl2/h11bp
Is it the same for the trax?
I would assume so but check your manual or search your yr/ model for a pdf manual. Or let me know and I can check as well if you have trouble!
That light probably won’t last more than a couple weeks. Especially after you used the same gloves to touch the interwell dirt. Good luck!
Heyo Brotha! I have not had to change it since uploading this video 😁
This has made me hate my equinox even more. Who the hell approved this to be put into production? Who doesn't let the headlights be accessible directly from under the hood? Shitty design but thanks for the video this was the most infuriating headlight change I've ever done.
Your welcome bro! Haha I was shocked when I looked at the manual and was like bruhhhhh but glad you got it!
They defs try to detour people from easy stuff so you pay more
I literally said the same thing when my wife's low beam went on hers. I said who was the idiot who designed this
@@shockhead2009dsi I am gonna do a tail light repair one day when I remember. I did the light bulbs but it cracked and rain went inside so top blinker shorted :(
All car these days are designed so you have to bring it to the dealership to be worked it's retarted
Wow I don’t have to pull the engine 😂
😂😂😂
Man’s hit a that’s what she said joke while he could
brooooo 😂😂 i gotta go back and edit this for that haha slipped out 😂
This is actually decent design compared to the Chevy Malibu, I couldn’t do it myself you have to take off the bumper lol smh
This shit took 2 hours also if you have a LED setup there are more steps to remove it
Ouch how did it take 2 hours my guy? We all did it in under 5 mins on here?
What was the problem?
If you have led bulbs it’s just the bulb you are replacing
@@Chemical-H the last bulb the led didn’t come out right and we didn’t know that until we just forced the remainder of the old led setup out
These vehicle developers make it more dumber to do simple stuff to newer vehicles
Sorry guys! Didn’t realize comments were off! Hope this helps y’all save some $$! Gotta love those dislikes, still creates interactions 😍🤘🏽
Talk about a STUPID DESIGN! Chevy! I don't know and trust anymore. They must be hiring the bottom of the barrel engineers. I mean Straight out of Walmart or something! Sheesh!
What does this mean bro 😂
You a mechanic is that why ur mad a average Joe can save $100’s of dollars? Because the rest of us aren’t, and like to pay true cost of part…not 2.5 hr labor on this fix vs 3 min like showed. If you do research on any car, most fixes like this take only minutes. I’ve done stuff on a 2017 Honda Civic as well if anyone is interested. Will be doing my back tail light in the next video!
Thanks for watching and commenting brotha!
@@Chemical-H You read it wrong. I commented on how the designers at Chevrolet could have designed the car with some commonsense. My Blazer, you open the hood, reach in and replace the light bulb.
Now, you have to take the shielding in the wheel well partly off and reach up into a place that you can't see.
Stupid design!
Your video helped me figure out how to change mine, and I thank you for making the video. I'm not a mechanic. Not even close.
Just think if an older woman needed to change them out. Or an older man. They would have to shell out nearly 200 bucks and sit all day at the dealership to have a headlight changed out?!? LOL. Ridiculous!
@@victororo462 oh I understand and interpreted it wrong. I agree a from the good would be way easier.
I will say to remove or change the battery was just about the work as the lightbulb with the screws and pieces I had to remove to access it (I had a dead battery)
Thanks bro
💯!
